So for the 3rd time in a year Curse has silently and randomly given me a "Curse Premium" account. Not even sure what this does for me or why I should care. After a few weeks it disappears and I'm back to normal. This happening to anyone else?
Stranded on Krydon Renewed- A renewed version of Stranded on Krydon that is being constantly updated, has improved visuals, is more friendly to new players, lots more fun tweaks and much more planned to come.
So one of the devs was browsing through the forums, saw this thread and poked me about it. You lot are starting to grow on everyone here :D
We have an internal algorithm based on a whole slew of things that all together we call "popularity threshold". It's based on things like traffic, downloads, etc within a designated time period. If you qualify, you'll get complimentary premium as a way of saying "hey cool, you're awesome, and thanks for being a part of the community".
Previously, since SC2Mapster was ad supported to a certain degree, Curse Premium would remove the ads, but that's no longer a thing. However, you won't get ads on other sites that ARE still ad supported within the Curse network.
TL;DR
You're awesome if you don't have it. Awesome if you do have it. And getting it is all about doing awesome stuff.
Cool, I'm awesome. But more importantly, it's everyone that makes this community awesome, not just individuals.
Won't see an argument from me. I love this community for that reason!
Honestly, it's really more just to give you guys an ad-free experience. We don't like them in general, and believe it or not - this entire company is made up of gamers and creators. We would give it all away for free if we didn't have families to feed :D
But at least with the Premium, it was a way to offer SOMETHING, even if it's so insignificant in the scope of things to say "thanks". Also, we do like giving you guys goals to work towards.
And yea, we know that some of that doesn't quite fit in with the SC2Mapster culture. So we're revisiting a lot of that. I wish I could tell you some of the things that are on the table, but not just yet. :]
I was wondering about this as well. I have had it for about 3 years now; I just assumed it was a glitch in the system 3 years ago that was never cought onto. Are you telling me that I have been awesome for 3 years? Should I tone it down a bit?

I also got it and I don't care for it. A normal account is just fine with me.
Me too!

TL;DR: Nothing applies to you but "you can browse curse.com with no ads" is the closest to any relevant thing...
Oh, and a golden name, and the ability to rub your premium in the plebian's faces.
The condensed Custom Campaign Initiative is on this Google Sheet!

Haha. Got it too for whatever reason. And I never had ads anyway because of AdBlock.

Looks to me like all "authors" got premium. Grats.
