What about old attachments? WIll they ever be back?
For the forums - not something I can promise. I don't know what tech that might require or if it's feasible with the current workload. I'll ask and see.
It's important you guys know that we announce updates and bugs over on the @CurseForge twitter. For anyone curious about the download count - that was a bug that was fixed relatively fast.
As for projects in moderation, they don't go into moderation until you successfully upload a file. We don't even know about them until that happens. This prevents users from uploading blank projects and having tons of file-less projects all over the place. And yes, you will need to zip the file up until we get an update out that will allow SC2map files, which shouldn't be too long as we recently added another file type for another game as well.
@houndofbaskerville - Your post is disjointed and confusing.
I'm not in charge, I'm just the guy who communicates. We have a team of moderators that moderate files. We also have a file processor that we have to make sure can properly scan and process hundreds of thousands of files as they come into our system.
As mentioned time and time again, the SC2Map file issue will be assessed, but since zipping up a project isn't a blocker to getting projects on the site, it's not been a major issue. I would much rather have our guys working on the new features to bring SC2Mapster back up to speed and get this community back into the hands of the people who made it what it is today.
So if you don't mind, please either quit with the silly negative nancy drama or I will happily show you out. You have the option to be a positive member of this community and help me and the rest of the folks here get what they need and want out of this site. That is something you CAN do.
You guys can always PM me or hit me up on Twitch App (MrFlamegoat, I hangout in the CurseForge Server), or ding me on Twitter @mrflamegoat anytime you have issues or questions. I will 100% always do my best to help assist or fix.
Thanks again to everyone for putting up with us! Be sure to check the community post that went up today. The last bit of the post is directed at you guys! Finally got some news about the front page and a variety of other things regarding SC2Mapster. Stay tuned!
Something we're also actively working on, since this uses the same framework as all our other sites. We want this to be searchable and index driven.
Also, no, we don't pay bots to be on the site. SC2Mapster is a part of CurseForge, which collectively has millions of users, millions of data driven pages, and millions of monthly views.
With daily updated user generated content, we're quite a large magnet for bot traffic from the big search engines.
When they are implemented, maybe give a notification as to what has been added vs what still is in the works so people do not lose hope?
That is the plan - I got worried that my broken record "we're working on it" would do the same thing since the roadmap wasn't clear for the year. Now we have a couple of more devs working on things, and dedicated some of those new resources specifically to community so I feel more comfortable coming back around to update everyone.
From here on out, you guys should expect weekly/semi-weekly updates from me on what we're working on, what's changing, what's fixed, etc.
They aren't lost. We're back in action on bug fixes, development, and feature requests. I've been out for conventions (PAX South, PAX East) as well as the Twitch Merge that happened last week.
We're working hard on rolling out new features for our other properties, but me and a couple of guys will be working for the foreseeable future on the communities now :]
You guys should see some of the other communities spam. CurseForge is a massive target at the moment, and we're dealing with a new "generation" of spam bots.
Also hi :]
I haven't left you guys. I just realized I haven't updated everyone in a long while. Some things internally shifted around, and we're working on some pretty gnarly overhauls and migrations on our backend at the moment. Dev resources have been entirely sucked away (we're working on a remedy for that right now). Training and moving people around. I'm spending a lot of time just trying to manage queues and backlogs.
We're working on getting a couple of guys dedicated just to community development work. I hate putting you guys off for so long, but hands are tied.
Hands are tied at the moment. Internal changes have our dev resources limited to the bare essentials. I'm waiting for a few things to be finalized before I can share news with you guys. I'm still watching for game breaking changes or bugs, but have very little time to dig into anything more than that.
We're undergoing some major changes internally right now (all good things, just time consuming and depriving us of development resources). Thin of it like spring cleaning. Until we complete some of these internal changes, larger features won't be ported over.
This is a question we've had from other communities as well and is taken very seriously, it's just a matter of time and resources as to whether or not we reimplement or replace the team feature.
Should be noted, however, that we still have all of the data regarding any previously existing feature and should we bring back any of those associated features it's very likely we'll bring back that data as well.
I know that's not the ideal answer, but it's the best one I can give right now. PM me if you guys have any further questions. I'm having a hard time keeping up with all of the community forums at the moment, but I still love hearing from you guys.
Quote from MrFlamegoat>If no one downloads your project or you don't upload one at all, you're not going to earn points. We get this all the time "why am I not earning any points" when the user doesn't even have a project.
I feel obligated to point out that prior to your updating sc2mapster, I was earning .07-.16 points per day from downloads. I have not gotta any points, or downloads, since the site was updated.
In your opinion, is it the fault of curse that something that was static for 3 years has abruptly stopped? Or do you feel that a major swing in the community happened at the same exact time, and that curse had absolutely no influence on the outcome.
Likely because of how we are displaying addons - and you're definitely in the right to question it. I'll add this to the list since you're an example.

An update for you guys:

In the coming weeks, you guys will have a lot more SC2Mapster related stuff on this list.
@R0binicus - working as intended. We use Mars based math, it's a little smaller than Earth's.
*sigh* Me and Zeldo had a good laugh at that - I'll see what we can do :D

Not just yet - waiting on a couple of releases.
We're actually getting some community features and updates out.

I will tell them that you personally requested PM's.
:] Joking aside, it's still on the list - I promise!

That was why we had that period of silence.
