Since melee has never been for me as I am not a koream pro player. I happened to be more of a team player. The maps that require team work are and have been my draw for SC. Also the survival stress that comes with it very enticing to me. I have spoken with a few of my friends always getting different opinions. Now whats you "say" about it and maybe some thoughts on the next future commanders to be?
I find multiplayer as well stressful and co-op is the right balance of challenging but not overly difficult. Blizzard had said they where surprised of the popularity of co-op. I guess thats the reason why they didnt update this mode in a while. I think this mode will grow even more since its draws a lot of the casual gamers.
The next future commander is abathur which was posted on blizzard twitter. They seem to follow the toss, zerg, terran order so we can expect after abathur a terran commander probably nova or maybe tychus.
Blizz also said that Co-op was more popular than ladder in first month after release, along with that "Multiplayer, Co-Op and Campaign audiences are mutually exclusive to a great extent.. We think of these 3 audiences separately". I was sure there ought to also be an arcade-only crowd, but apparently not.
Makes me wonder if next RTC is gonna be Co-op focused.
I'm of the opinion that Campaign and Co-op go hand-in-hand as they are contained scenarios versus AI. There's a big audience out there that the CCI, for example, can grab just based off of the popularity of Co-op as it's more of a casual experience.

I really enjoy the coop arenas of battle. But the content of new maps needs to come more gradually.
For commander in the future my wish list..........Stucov, Zeratul, Sgt. Hammer maybe she can be a little more fem. maybe this time around and of course Nova.
I have to disagree with you because there are arcade games made by players that take co op playing to the next level.
I think many players never even tough the arcade because it's not fully supported by blizzard. Not official blizzard content either. Name brand over half brand.
I have to agree with you there are a few maps out there like Orion: Ground Zero. It those takes coop to the next level. I have always like that to be a mod with many more maps to pick from and have fun.

First-off, I'm glad to see that people can have fun with Starcraft II outside of the standard multiplayer. So that's cool!
But.. I also have to agree. Co-Op is essentially some campaign maps with a bunch of extension mods. You could probably achieve the same thing in the "Multiplayer - Custom" category.
And yet, it is the preferred game mode because it requires fewer clicks to get started, and (that's probably the biggest thing here) you're being put into a queue and don't need to wait for other players for too long.
I comparison, if you're playing a Multiplayer/Arcade map, you're at the mercy of whoever happens to check out the current maps in the list. This has been improved since Legacy of the Void (like with the "/lobbylink" command), but it's still not ideal.
Perhaps the Arcade also needs a random queue system that gets people into the game really fast.

Co-op is amazing! :D
i think coop is utterly boring. i stopped playing at lvl 9. it couldn't hook me
You know what's funny? Creating a co-op campaign, but never having touched the SC2 co-op :D
