posted a message on Wc3 like gameplay in Starcraft Theme?

The third map of my campaign Shadow of the Xel'naga (just search for "sotx" on battle.net) has a levelling and ability system similar to that of WC3, but the gameplay is more MOBA-focused. The sixth map also has units that gain experience and abilities, but it's more like a linear dungeon-crawler.

Might be they make up the categories if there are many entries. This is also the first contest of its kind, so I guess its also some sort of test-run.

At first I didn't like the idea of having only 3 months, but  this is a good way to not let maps get out of hand; focus on small 10-30 minute maps. I guess you wouldn't mind if the map was for co-op but also possible to play alone (like SotX)?

We're thinking around a month, but we're still discussing it and we're open to other suggestions.

I would be in no way able to create a map like I have in just a single month, but I just might be the slowest mapmaker ever.

posted a message on Nemesis (RPG Campaign)

Hi. I've only created a single campaign for SC2, with only 7 maps, but I tried really hard to make each map as different from one another as possible. This allowed me to learn many aspects of the editor. I'm not a perfect data editor, but I feel confident.

Your idea to have different heroes could be the excellent starting point for you to dive deeper into unfamiliar SC2-editor-territory. You should also consider a gameplay-first approach. It might be more time-consuming, but in my opinion the result is better when you focus on gameplay first, and then work on terrain and additional art.

Hello. Can you play Shadow of the Xel'Naga? It's finished, but i update it when I have time. You can find it on the Arcade by searching for "sotx". It's a co-op campaign, so, if possible, play with a friend.

posted a message on Feedback / Downloads

If I download something it's 99% only to look at triggers/data. I've played maybe only a dozen custom maps, as most of them aren't that interesting for me (quality usually not as high as some positive critics make them out to be; also, I'm just not that interested in fan fiction). I would probably not even play my own maps if I hadn't made them myself.

Lately I have been enjoying posting feedback on Jayborino's and deltron's RTC videos. If that's something creators are interested in I can watch videos and post feedback based on videos; but I'll not download and play maps myself.

Hahaha I found the map myself two days ago. It's crazy how similar the maps are. Dehaka on Zerus, needing your help to defeat bosses and collect essence. And the map isn't that bad overall, although I do find my own to be more polished. The fact that Dehaka is fighting on that map is very interesting though, and I like the effect that appears when he collects essence. I was thinking of adding at least the effect, but then I didn't want to add Dehaka as a unit, so I think it would be strange if he just appeared to collect essences but not fight with you, so I left him out completely.

I will update the map one last time over the weekend, with only a couple of minor changes.

OutsiderXE isn't just a nickname. It's a title bestowed upon the most dedicated Blizzard mappers/fanboys and has been shared since around 2002. First one created Lord of the Clans and Day of the Dragon and helped the second guy with The Last Guardian. Third created Shadow of the Xel'Naga and is helping me a bit with my co-op map (along with some other people).

We require three things from someone to become an OutsiderXE:
    - Absolute passion for Blizzard games (not all, but most) and their lore
    - Absolute passion for level design
    - Absolute dedication to finish a started project (or realize quickly enough that it's not worth it) and attention to high quality

I was chosen because I've been updating the old WC3 campaigns, and we are very happy with the improvements

Did you really think the best map in this contest is being made by a single person??

No it wasn't Pronogo (unless he is this guy: https://www.georgeexley.com/)!

The cool thing about these Void Crystals abilities is that they work like their own mutators. You always add more and more abilities and it will never be too much. Unfortunately I won't be having much time working on the map anymore, which is why I'm handing it over to you^^, so the map is now feature-complete. I'll only be assisting you with some bugfixing and polishing until the release date. I wish you good luck and I am sure it will perform well! If you win the tickets and visit Blizzcon please tell us about your journey and the convention!
