StarCraft: Mass Recall
StarCraft: Mass Recall (SCMR) is a project that recreates the classic StarCraft and Brood War gameplay as well as the entire single-player campaigns within the StarCraft II engine. StarCraft: Mass Recall contains 68 maps, 59 from the original StarCraft/Brood War game, 3 that were hidden or deleted on various StarCraft supports, and 6 from the 1998 demo campaign.
You need to have StarCraft II installed in order to play the Mod. StarCraft II is free-to-play, you can download the game client from the StarCraft II Official Game Site.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER: This Mod and all campaign files are free. This means, all who work on Mass Recall are putting their free time into an incredibly comprehensive remaster of all of StarCraft and Brood War, including entirely new custom campaigns such as the Stukov Series and Enslavers Redux. Thus, there should be absolutely no expectations that bug fixes or new features will be released in any sort of timely manner. This is a "we'll get to it when we get to it" situation. Please be aware the modders here have work lives, family lives, and simply do not have the energy to maintain a lively work cycle to keep the Mod 100% up to date. We do promise we will release updates when we feel they are ready to be released. We hope that you understand our position on this.

Auto-Installation
(for Windows, if you're using Mac follow the manual installation guide below)
For a fresh auto-install please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the SCMR installer and the required files (see the "Downloads" section above).
2. Move all downloaded ZIP-Files and unzip the installer to your StarCraft II installation directory. The default path to it is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\".
3. Run the installer.
4. After SCMR is successfully installed, use the shortcut on your Desktop to run SCMR.
Auto install video guide by DeltronLive
Note that this is for an older version, just make sure you have all the latest required files specified in the "Downloads" section above, otherwise the process is the same.
Manual Installation
If auto-install fails and/or you would like to manually install SCMR, please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the required file sets (see the "Downloads" section above). For StarCraft: Mass Recall to work properly you need to download the Campaign Maps - that are bundled with the Main Mod (SCMRmod) and a "dummy" Cinematics Mod (SCMRcinematics) - as well as the Assets Mod (SCMRassets) and a Localization Mod (SCMRlocal).
2. Then extract all ZIP-Files to a folder of your choice. The extracted folder should look like graphic [1] below.
3. Now, open your StarCraft II installation directory where the StarCraft II.exe (WIN) or .app (MAC) is located. Per default this is on your primary C: drive under "Program Files (x86)" (WIN) or "Applications" (MAC). The standard paths to the StarCraft II installation directory are shown below.
Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II"
Mac OSX: "Macintosh HD/Applications/StarCraft II"
The StarCraft II installation directory should look similar to graphic [2] below. Note that you may need to create the "Maps" folder here if it does not already exist. Then move the folder called "Starcraft Mass Recall" (with lowercase "c") from the extracted folder to the "Maps" folder within your StarCraft II installation directory. The "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [3] below.
4. Next, move the "Mods" folder from the extracted folder into the StarCraft II installation directory (the same place as the "Maps" folder). Your "Mods" folder should now have four Mod files and resemble graphic [4] above.
5. While your newly placed "Starcraft Mass Recall" folder within the "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [5] below.

Alternative ways to play
If the above doesn't work for you, first and foremost make sure that:
- you have all the necessary files in the right directories
- you've set the correct paths for the shortcut
- you're running the latest version of StarCraft II
Alternative way to play without the shortcut:
- locate SC2Switcher.exe in the Support folder (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Support
- locate the SCMR Campaign Launcher file in (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Maps/Starcraft Mass Recall
- drag and drop the SCMR Campaign Launcher file to SC2Switcher.exe
If you wish to play while logged on to Battle.net, you will need to take the following steps:
- Launch StarCraft II using the Battle.net launcher
- Alt-tab to Desktop
- Launch StarCraft: Mass Recall using the created shortcut
Note that you can still save and load any SCMR map, as long as you're logged in.
Bonus Campaign - Enslavers Redux Installation
ZIP Download - https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall/files/3246278
This file includes a new 30-mission extra bonus campaign "Enslavers Redux" by OmegaWeaponX! This series contains 4 episodes, with 9 unique maps per Terran, Protoss, and Zerg races, with 3 epilogue maps. Content and story is based on the original Enslavers custom maps in StarCraft and Dark Vengeance maps in Brood War. Features brand new dialog and story, missions, and enhanced heroes with their own level-up mechanics! Learn what happens between the major StarCraft episodes and the events leading up to StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty!
While this custom campaign can be played stand-alone by opening up the unique Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launching missions from there, it is also integrated into Mass Recall via the "Extras" menu. In order to load it properly in for the Mass Recall Launcher to work with this campaign, follow these instructions:
- Download the above ZIP-file containing Enslavers Redux
- Go into your StarCraft II folder -> SCMR Mass Recall -> Extras:
- Within Extras, place your ZIP-file, then uncompress it there. You should have a folder that says 8. Enslavers Redux. It should look like this now:
- You've got Enslavers Redux installed! Now from the SCMR Campaign Launcher go to Extras and click on the Enslavers Redux menu panel. You can launch any mission from here or open the Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launch missions from there!
Please note - This campaign has no unique audio for voices and as such it is required that subtitles are enabled in order to actually read what transmissions are saying :)

Troubleshooting
“I swear it's always some damn thing.” – Joeyray
Make sure to check out the auto install and manual install video guides also linked above. The end result in these videos is the same, regardless of install method.
Also make sure you're using an up-to-date version of StarCraft II.
Common issues:
- Param/Value/-Error: If lots of texts are like that, you may have a problem with your Mods: Delete SCMRmod and SCMRlocal, and re-download them from the links above. If it is only one or two lines (say, a mission objective), report it in the comments section (in that case, please specify which language you are playing in).
- Dependency cannot be loaded: The Mods are not at the proper place. Check that you have put your Mods (SCMRmod, SCMRassets and SCMRlocal) in the "Mods" folder, as on the pictures above.
- Unable to load map: Your Maps are not at the proper place. Check that you have put the episode files such as "1. Rebel Yell" in a folder "Starcraft Mass Recall", itself to be placed in "Maps", as on the pictures above.

"Cinematics are now played directly in ongoing mission, SCMR Cinematic Player map file no longer used" - cool. Good and clever fix.
Hi Jones,
I did as you said but I still have version 6.1 name and nothing (no unit) in the codex.
I copied manually the latest SCMR Campaign Launcher file (included in Maps 1 zip file) in the Starcraft Mass Recall directory. I deleted Cinema player file.
Usually I proceed to manual installs so I know how yo install the mod. I used the previous installer file for version 6.1 (scmrlesetup) I did a manual install again I also tried with the last installer you provided (scmrlesetup for version 6.2), same issue.
No matter what I do I can't see any version 2 name.
When I use the editor and test the launcher file I have 6.2 When I use the shortcut I have 6.1...
EDIT: it works if you delete the file in my documents/Starcraft 2/Banks Then you use the game shortcut it recreates the BANK file and it works like a charm... Warn again players to keep the SCMRcinematics file if they want to use it (replacing a file with the same name of 13 kb). Shouldn't it easier in your map1.zip file to include the cinematics ? It was harder than expected to have this game working...
@RobertCL: Go
Download links updated.
The campaign launcher and cinema player files included with the cinema addon are obsolete.
There's probably a problem with the installer at the moment, causing it to replace the new campaign launcher with the outdated one. Just replace the launcher file manually. You'll see the version number 6.2 in the menu when using the latest one.
We're back with another update. SCMR version 6.2 now available.
Updated files: SCMRmod, SCMR Map Pack 1/2 & 2/2, SCMRlocal, Retro addon. You will need the updated SCMRlocal for version 6.2, currently only available in English. Updates for other languages coming soon.
To update from 6.0 or newer: simply replace files. Your campaign data and options will not be affected. Mission saves created with previous versions will not work.
NOTE that if you have the cinematics addon already installed and you wish to use it, DO NOT replace "SCMRcinematics" with the file included in Map Pack 1/2. This is a placeholder file required only if cinematics addon is not used.
As of version 6.2, the "SCMR Cinematic Player" file in your Starcraft Mass Recall root directory is no longer in use and can be deleted.
GLHF.

Hi,
I installed 6.2 mod using the following files:
I did not use SCMR Cinema addon v6.0 to 6.1 patch update for the cinema addon.
"As of version 6.2, the "SCMR Cinematic Player" file in your Starcraft Mass Recall root directory is no longer in use and can be deleted" I deleted it but the file SCMR Campaign launcher is still there (Starcraft Mass Recall folder) and this is an old version dating from mod 6.0. Is it normal ?
I never had any issue with installers but this time you should clearly say to player if the zip file using the cinema add-on is still used or not (YES for me), idem for the patch to version 6.1 (NO for me). According to me SCMRcinematics is still needed (620.824 kb) in MOD folder.
Of course I deleted all Mass Recall directory and I deleted the SCMR.SC2Bank file in (Documents)/Starcraft II/Banks.
On screen I see mod version 6.1 (instead on 6.2), is it normal ? I hope I have well version 2 but you forgot to set version 2 name on your SCMR Campaign launcher file...
I think it would be cool if you guys could do some skirmish maps, just like in Broodwar. Starcraft 2 doesn't really have any Broodwar-like skirmish on it, other then the rank matches, but those are only about ranking and not like how it was in Broodwar.
@crizdi0tz: Go
RETURN TO CHAR..after you finished the mission, can't load to scoreboard unless you click f10 and return to menu.
I think this has to do with the Score Screen bug from last version where they needed to make a "manual" score screen. With the new animated score screens, this needs to be done again. It happens when players change allegiances the calculations break the trigger at the end. I also asked for an update on this so don't worry I'm sure its well known :)
Bug.. I'm using RETRO mod with CINEMATIC mod
Selecting Tassadar..you have to click him to control him.
When ARTANIS spoke ingame there's no portrait of him just a "blue smoke" background.
Please add a ESC command to cancel the probe in NEXUS you have to click it just to cancel them.
RETURN TO CHAR..after you finished the mission, can't load to scoreboard unless you click f10 and return to menu.
Nevermind, I've found a "solution". If you have a fresh install of Mass Recall with the Rebel Yell and The Iron Fist campaign not working, try this:
Open Rebel Yell, click Start Campaign (which won't work), go back and click exit. The Rebel Yell campaign will start. Same procedure goes with The Iron Fist.
@diddy13360: Go
Rebel Yell and the Iron fist does not work for me. Seems to be an issue with the Terran campaign.
I'm having a problem with Mass Recall. Both of the MR Terran campaign are unplayable. Clicking start campaign for Rebel Yell and The Iron Fist does nothing.
Playing Overmind, The Fall, The Stand and the Queen of Blades are fine, however. Does anyone have any solution?
@Sartarius12: I can't download ru-localization from the stupid torrent (not enough seeders; though I also do not have desire to download 2 GB of many copies of one object), but for the version 5.4.3 there was ru-localization with sounds as I said (Fargus-version of sounds for SC1-original and 7Wolf-version of sounds for SC1-Broodwar) because I have the same version of original SC1 (though with Fargus-localization of movies, not 7Wolf, - I made the appropriate replacement of sound of movies for SCMR v.5.4.3) in which I played many-many years.
Of course, this version is worse than SC2-version (7Wolf preferably), but not so bad as some localizations of some games by Fargus/7Wolf.
"About non-retro mod - cant get exactly what you mean. You can choose what unit sounds to use - SC1 or SC2 variants."
You can choose, but - as you can see in comments below - there are bugs with missions and sound-replacements for such option. I.e. developers created additional problem for themself instead of using very simple principle: to use as many as possible voices from SC2 for non-retro version (as suggested some players below) and to use all voices from SC1 for retro-version.
"And ofc units that are not present in SC2 from SC1 cannot use SC2 sounds."
Queens and Zerglings with unlocalized voices? Another one?
+ with such option we have - in addition to bags - the greater size of SCMRMod and SCMRLocal + in SCMRMod is used not placeholders for sound-files (I did such thing for original SC1 which allows to move movies from archive into the game-folder by replacing them in archive by placeholders with the near to 0 length), but they themself. Of course, it is not problem to download bigger version, but this looks not clever.
@Sartarius12: Go
There is in fact an EN sound version with RU subs in the torrent above =)
@wrace0: Go
About the unit sounds in retro mod - did you try to play with sound settings in "options" menu of the SCMR campaign launcher? =)
@wrace0
The point is that voicing is not from Fargus\7 wolf. AFAIK it was made from scratch. My ears were bleeding and I quickly removed that.
About non-retro mod - cant get exactly what you mean. You can choose what unit sounds to use - SC1 or SC2 variants. And ofc units that are not present in SC2 from SC1 cannot use SC2 sounds.
@Sartarius12: Go I am disagree with the suggestion 1 - Fargus-version of sounds for SC1-original and 7Wolf-version of sounds for SC1-Broodwar is good enough. If anyone likes to play with subtitles, he can use just english-version for this. Anyway, there are different versions (though on the stupid torrent) of ru-localization. But it seems that team is sleeping now for the next year.
@MagnusCarbo
Use auto-install in case you have a starter version.
@Spartacus1976
Even starter version will do, you wont need VoL, HotS, LotV or Nova at all.
Hello!
I am running RU 6.1 version of SCMR and encounter the following bugs so far (up to terrain 1 - 10):
1) Battle cruisers do not have any energy at all so they cannot use yamato.
2) Nova nuclear bug: afer building academy nuke starts to build automatically. Though you cannot use it anyway.
3) Terrain 1 - S07. After beating secret mission 07 for terrain first campaign you have a story text about normal mission 07 ending (zerg attacking confideracy on antiga prime after psi emitter is placed). It should not be there. Then, if you close this window - you will get a protoss dialogue on victory screen... If you wait for a long time - you will have a dialogue displayed on the battlefield but anyway you wont be able to do anything - mission is autowon. And then it stucks with a black screen. No way to end it. Please investigate mission 07 ending - mission S07.
4) Missing numbers on victory screen. Only colored bars.
5) "Unit is ready" voicing is always played from SC1/BW even if you have it set to SC2 and for units which are exist in SC2. Though main unit sound is played correctly.
Suggestions:
1) From RU localization - remove RU sounds and leave only subtitles. Every work should be rewarded but without professional voicing better not to start it. It is not terrible - it is the worst I ever heard. And it is desyncd with the text - they are different. It ruins the experience a lot, better not to confuse players.
2) While I like cutscenes they are really strange. It is quite hard to do one but most of them are simply bears NO info. Just some random mariners walking... Example of good cutscene is S08 - terrain1 mission ending. Maybe in future you can remove\rework useless ones.
3) Resurrection bonus mission. While I can easily play on super-fast game speed, I prefer to relax in SCMR on normal. As far as this map is included in SCMR - can you please remove speed changing blocker?
Questions:
1) Any known issues of 6.1 version players should be awared of?
2) I cant use 6.1.1 and what upgrade in fleet beacon I would miss?
3) I remember there were different missions in loomings cmpaign in older SCMR versions (3.x maybe?) with some maps different. What about them? Are they were incorrect and were just custom-made maps to fill the campaign and non-canon? Where did they go?
Anyway you did a splendid job working on SCMR and introducing all that stuff. F.e. I never played loomings as we in Russia never had it back in old 1998. Ofc game pace nowdays is far from SC2 original but you can feel and remember those old days of SC1 fever. Thank you for great work and keep it up!
i found another slight bug, on biting the bullet whe tassadars fleet arrives the warp in visuals for the carriers remain there instead of dissapearing. i still love your mod, you all deserve recognition for your astounding work
