StarCraft: Mass Recall
StarCraft: Mass Recall (SCMR) is a project that recreates the classic StarCraft and Brood War gameplay as well as the entire single-player campaigns within the StarCraft II engine. StarCraft: Mass Recall contains 68 maps, 59 from the original StarCraft/Brood War game, 3 that were hidden or deleted on various StarCraft supports, and 6 from the 1998 demo campaign.
You need to have StarCraft II installed in order to play the Mod. StarCraft II is free-to-play, you can download the game client from the StarCraft II Official Game Site.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER: This Mod and all campaign files are free. This means, all who work on Mass Recall are putting their free time into an incredibly comprehensive remaster of all of StarCraft and Brood War, including entirely new custom campaigns such as the Stukov Series and Enslavers Redux. Thus, there should be absolutely no expectations that bug fixes or new features will be released in any sort of timely manner. This is a "we'll get to it when we get to it" situation. Please be aware the modders here have work lives, family lives, and simply do not have the energy to maintain a lively work cycle to keep the Mod 100% up to date. We do promise we will release updates when we feel they are ready to be released. We hope that you understand our position on this.

Installation

Auto-Installation
(for Windows, if you're using Mac follow the manual installation guide below)
For a fresh auto-install please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the SCMR installer and the required files (see the "Downloads" section above).
2. Move all downloaded ZIP-Files and unzip the installer to your StarCraft II installation directory. The default path to it is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\".
3. Run the installer.
4. After SCMR is successfully installed, use the shortcut on your Desktop to run SCMR.
Auto install video guide by DeltronLive
Note that this is for an older version, just make sure you have all the latest required files specified in the "Downloads" section above, otherwise the process is the same.
Manual Installation
If auto-install fails and/or you would like to manually install SCMR, please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the required file sets (see the "Downloads" section above). For StarCraft: Mass Recall to work properly you need to download the Campaign Maps - that are bundled with the Main Mod (SCMRmod) and a "dummy" Cinematics Mod (SCMRcinematics) - as well as the Assets Mod (SCMRassets) and a Localization Mod (SCMRlocal).
2. Then extract all ZIP-Files to a folder of your choice. The extracted folder should look like graphic [1] below.
3. Now, open your StarCraft II installation directory where the StarCraft II.exe (WIN) or .app (MAC) is located. Per default this is on your primary C: drive under "Program Files (x86)" (WIN) or "Applications" (MAC). The standard paths to the StarCraft II installation directory are shown below.
Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II"
Mac OSX: "Macintosh HD/Applications/StarCraft II"
The StarCraft II installation directory should look similar to graphic [2] below. Note that you may need to create the "Maps" folder here if it does not already exist. Then move the folder called "Starcraft Mass Recall" (with lowercase "c") from the extracted folder to the "Maps" folder within your StarCraft II installation directory. The "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [3] below.
4. Next, move the "Mods" folder from the extracted folder into the StarCraft II installation directory (the same place as the "Maps" folder). Your "Mods" folder should now have four Mod files and resemble graphic [4] above.
5. While your newly placed "Starcraft Mass Recall" folder within the "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [5] below.

- Step-by-step Installation Guide (English)
- Installations-Handbuch (Deutsch)
Alternative ways to play
If the above doesn't work for you, first and foremost make sure that:
- you have all the necessary files in the right directories
- you've set the correct paths for the shortcut
- you're running the latest version of StarCraft II
Alternative way to play without the shortcut:
- locate SC2Switcher.exe in the Support folder (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Support
- locate the SCMR Campaign Launcher file in (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Maps/Starcraft Mass Recall
- drag and drop the SCMR Campaign Launcher file to SC2Switcher.exe
If you wish to play while logged on to Battle.net, you will need to take the following steps:
- Launch StarCraft II using the Battle.net launcher
- Alt-tab to Desktop
- Launch StarCraft: Mass Recall using the created shortcut
Note that you can still save and load any SCMR map, as long as you're logged in.
Bonus Campaign - Enslavers Redux Installation
ZIP Download - https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall/files/3246278
This file includes a new 30-mission extra bonus campaign "Enslavers Redux" by OmegaWeaponX! This series contains 4 episodes, with 9 unique maps per Terran, Protoss, and Zerg races, with 3 epilogue maps. Content and story is based on the original Enslavers custom maps in StarCraft and Dark Vengeance maps in Brood War. Features brand new dialog and story, missions, and enhanced heroes with their own level-up mechanics! Learn what happens between the major StarCraft episodes and the events leading up to StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty!
While this custom campaign can be played stand-alone by opening up the unique Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launching missions from there, it is also integrated into Mass Recall via the "Extras" menu. In order to load it properly in for the Mass Recall Launcher to work with this campaign, follow these instructions:
- Download the above ZIP-file containing Enslavers Redux
- Go into your StarCraft II folder -> SCMR Mass Recall -> Extras:
- Within Extras, place your ZIP-file, then uncompress it there. You should have a folder that says 8. Enslavers Redux. It should look like this now:
- You've got Enslavers Redux installed! Now from the SCMR Campaign Launcher go to Extras and click on the Enslavers Redux menu panel. You can launch any mission from here or open the Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launch missions from there!
Please note - This campaign has no unique audio for voices and as such it is required that subtitles are enabled in order to actually read what transmissions are saying :)

Troubleshooting
“I swear it's always some damn thing.” – Joeyray
Make sure to check out the auto install and manual install video guides also linked above. The end result in these videos is the same, regardless of install method.
Also make sure you're using an up-to-date version of StarCraft II.
Common issues:
- Param/Value/-Error: If lots of texts are like that, you may have a problem with your Mods: Delete SCMRmod and SCMRlocal, and re-download them from the links above. If it is only one or two lines (say, a mission objective), report it in the comments section (in that case, please specify which language you are playing in).
- Dependency cannot be loaded: The Mods are not at the proper place. Check that you have put your Mods (SCMRmod, SCMRassets and SCMRlocal) in the "Mods" folder, as on the pictures above.
- Unable to load map: Your Maps are not at the proper place. Check that you have put the episode files such as "1. Rebel Yell" in a folder "Starcraft Mass Recall", itself to be placed in "Maps", as on the pictures above.

@Telenil: Go
You could also make the map with city tileset as a new map, and after map08 or the hidden mission, you could put a new trigger like 'next mission - retconned city tileset' So you'd have an original space platform and a city version, too. You know, only if you have a lot of free time to make the map :)
@Nevermore2790: Go
The portraits you describe are those in the Retro mod, which we do not support. You can try to contact Gradius, or use the standard SCMR mod.
If we put a city tileset, people will come and say this was a space platform in the original and why did we change that. Our compromise was to put a clouds background instead of a space one, to imply the battle didn't take place in orbit but closer to the ground. Generally speaking, we don't change anything that was in the original unless we have a really good reason to do so, and even then, we usually leave an option or a game mode to keep it like it was.
@DeathTBO: Go
Other races have to be a different palyer because, as Nevermore said, all three races share the same supply in SC2. In this particular case, we could reduce the supply of all Protoss units to 0 and give them to the player, but I would rather have Tassadar being an ally to be more consistent with the lore. If more people didn't realize that the Protoss could be controlled, I will put an in-game tip to clarify it.
@Ireneus: Go
Thanks :)
Core.sc2mod is a Blizzard mod, it is not a Mass Recall file. Try to run the Blizzard repair tool as described on this page.
Hi there.. this is my 2nd post here :):
Regarding unit portraits, I do hope they will be improved and will fit soon especially to some units like Artanis, DuGalle and Duke. About the High Templar's portrait, they are really not black skinned even in the original. The reason why their face is black is because of the shadow that covers them. Some special units/heroes, for me do not need a change in color like Zeratul (because his model is unique, there's no need to change his color to avoid confusion unlike in the original).
Also, any possibilities for Episode I Mission 9 to have a different tileset now (in order to follow StarCraft II if possible :) ).. I think it's really supposed to be a city tileset in the original (I think in the dialogs of the briefing, I heard, send Kerrigan down there or something), but there were no tilesets for it, so they used Space Platform, and I think there are assets here now, and they might be useful, yet keep the layout 100% the same. (Still confused here because of lore changes, yet retconned) :)
@DeathTBO: It seems that they are shared controlled with you. It's also like that in the final mission of Episode III and the 6th mission of Episode IV.
My most reason is because of the supply limit in this engine acts somewhat the same as WarCraft III which makes supply (from Zerg to Protoss) in this game shared to the ENTIRE player's control. OR, are you talking differently?
@Ireneus: Go
I can play the Full circle fine, not having any issue... But if it helps, open the editor, in it open the Full circle map ("Zerg10.SC2Map"). When it loads hit F6 a window will pop up, save the map (Ctrl+S). If the log doesn't throw any errors, then try to test the document (Ctrl+F9).
@valas991: Go
I can control them. I selected them and saw a yellow ring. I had assumed they were supposed to be AI controlled.
I have a suggestion, please make the Protoss on the Biting the Bullet mission have a green selection ring.
I'd like to thank the recreators for such an amazing job. I didn't play it the right way (by installing it the way as instructed in the guide) so I missed out on the SC1 experience of cinematic cutscenes and what not but I still enjoyed the game very much, especially the difficulty, seeing as having to play it in normal demands playing almost like multiplayer by trying to outpace your opponent.
Again, thank you for such a remake. Maybe adding autosaves would help.
BUT I do have one problem. The game keeps crashing on the last mission of Episode 2 (Zerg - Full Circle). I have uninstalled, deleted all files, reinstalled, and followed the instructions on how to properly install the mod to be able to play w/o problems but the crashes keep happening after about 15 min of game time.
Could anyone help?
Below is what I gather from the latest Crash Log (just the pertinent part, I think):
DataSource Mods/Core.SC2Mod
Sources: Depth Data Full Name 0 00000000 00000000 Mods/Core.SC2Mod
Thanks if anyone can help! I really don't want to skip the storyline.
Awesome job modders! Keep it up.
In 'Shadow Hunters', the Celebrates can be permanently killed with units other than Zeratul (and hence the mission objectives cannot be fulfilled).
In the first protoss mission, Fenix does not have the option of 'patrol'.
@sams000: Go
Fixed.
@Nevermore2790: Go
Some of these are definitely bugs and will be fixed for the LotV edition, and for the models/animation, we'll see.
I really love this mod so much that I always want to use this to play StarCraft I :). However, here are the things that I do not like or suggestions in my opinion, and I really hope it gets changed if and ONLY if possible:
I think this is it for now.. I'll add more :)
Anyway, I'm new here... so feel free to guide me if I do not know what to do. :)
Well. Its great mod but I point two things. First, theres bugged shadows on goliath portrait. Secod, I rembember in original SC1 there wasnt infected marines, I mean they didnt shoot, but explode. Its small things I have to report, whole mod its just awesome.
@DeathTBO: Go
Did you try controlling them? They become yours after the cutscene. I played it 1 month ago & it worked fine [5.4.1]
Btw, there is indeed somethings wrong with Map pack (2/3) & Map pack (3/3) [Korean]
There is a bug in the "Biting the Bullet" mission. When the Protoss arrive, they will just sit in the top left corner not doing anything.
i cant go into the korean files, it says i do not have the permission. someone please help
@MinionPlayer: Go
Shortcut from installer is already shortcut to .exe with file open parameters (campaign screen is a map), so that method won't work. But last time i checked you do can load from in-game after launching it using the mass recall shortcut.
@MinionPlayer: Go
You can save your progress using the what they've said concerning the manual install steps :)
as for your visual problem, It doesn't sound like a problem with windows but more or less one with your drivers, alternatively some of your files could be corrupted. So id re-download and re-install just to make sure Im just guessing though.
Hey guys sup? I have two questions.
1. I installed this via auto installer. Is there a way to load the game progress? I tried dragging the save file into the desktop icon but it just brings me to the menu screen.
2. When I start the game, for one second it gives me a distorted color screen on my monitor (it still brings me to the menu screen though and games seem to run fine as well). I'm using Windows 8.1. Has this been a common problem?
UPDATE: Thanks to Valas991 I managed to fix my zip folder issue. So now all the maps etc can now be found in the mass recall folder.
Edit: managed to fix the other problem the "unable to open map problem" was due to me extracting them in the right directory just not in the correct sub folder i.e map packs in maps and mods in mods + I tried to use both mods instead of just one which probably caused the conflicts, did a manual install instead of using the launcher everything works fine now ^^
I will say this though; you need to be clearer about such things - instead of saying "you only need one to play" you should put "you can only use one to play. because using both causes conflicts.", I know you're probably thinking why bother? well there are people just as dumb as me out there who need it spelled out for them haha, so it would help ^^
anyway when ive completed the campaign ill post my thoughts on it :) - not that my opinion counts for much considering how stupid i was being when trying to install brood war, but yeah :)
So far so good though awesome mod and awesome job with what you've done so far guys :)
@xeNNNNN: Go
Check your PM. I believe my upload is working
Hey guys,
There seems to be a problem with the zip folder for episodes 4-6 (I downloaded the correct one this time), It seems that you cannot extract it manually and the installer says "there is something wrong" with the map pack.
Is this a known issue? I can play episodes 1-3 just fine in fact I completed them today.
Funnily enough the installer will actually extracts the contents, but they don't show up in the mass recall folder or at all. Im thinking the zip folder is corrupted actually or broken but at the source not from the download itself (as ive downloaded it 3 times now, each time with the same result) as there doesn't really seem to be another explanation for it, I cant even see the contents of the folder. can you guys confirm this?
If is is what ive suggested could you upload the map pack again? I really wanna play D:
