StarCraft: Mass Recall
StarCraft: Mass Recall (SCMR) is a project that recreates the classic StarCraft and Brood War gameplay as well as the entire single-player campaigns within the StarCraft II engine. StarCraft: Mass Recall contains 68 maps, 59 from the original StarCraft/Brood War game, 3 that were hidden or deleted on various StarCraft supports, and 6 from the 1998 demo campaign.
You need to have StarCraft II installed in order to play the Mod. StarCraft II is free-to-play, you can download the game client from the StarCraft II Official Game Site.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER: This Mod and all campaign files are free. This means, all who work on Mass Recall are putting their free time into an incredibly comprehensive remaster of all of StarCraft and Brood War, including entirely new custom campaigns such as the Stukov Series and Enslavers Redux. Thus, there should be absolutely no expectations that bug fixes or new features will be released in any sort of timely manner. This is a "we'll get to it when we get to it" situation. Please be aware the modders here have work lives, family lives, and simply do not have the energy to maintain a lively work cycle to keep the Mod 100% up to date. We do promise we will release updates when we feel they are ready to be released. We hope that you understand our position on this.

Installation

Auto-Installation
(for Windows, if you're using Mac follow the manual installation guide below)
For a fresh auto-install please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the SCMR installer and the required files (see the "Downloads" section above).
2. Move all downloaded ZIP-Files and unzip the installer to your StarCraft II installation directory. The default path to it is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\".
3. Run the installer.
4. After SCMR is successfully installed, use the shortcut on your Desktop to run SCMR.
Auto install video guide by DeltronLive
Note that this is for an older version, just make sure you have all the latest required files specified in the "Downloads" section above, otherwise the process is the same.
Manual Installation
If auto-install fails and/or you would like to manually install SCMR, please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the required file sets (see the "Downloads" section above). For StarCraft: Mass Recall to work properly you need to download the Campaign Maps - that are bundled with the Main Mod (SCMRmod) and a "dummy" Cinematics Mod (SCMRcinematics) - as well as the Assets Mod (SCMRassets) and a Localization Mod (SCMRlocal).
2. Then extract all ZIP-Files to a folder of your choice. The extracted folder should look like graphic [1] below.
3. Now, open your StarCraft II installation directory where the StarCraft II.exe (WIN) or .app (MAC) is located. Per default this is on your primary C: drive under "Program Files (x86)" (WIN) or "Applications" (MAC). The standard paths to the StarCraft II installation directory are shown below.
Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II"
Mac OSX: "Macintosh HD/Applications/StarCraft II"
The StarCraft II installation directory should look similar to graphic [2] below. Note that you may need to create the "Maps" folder here if it does not already exist. Then move the folder called "Starcraft Mass Recall" (with lowercase "c") from the extracted folder to the "Maps" folder within your StarCraft II installation directory. The "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [3] below.
4. Next, move the "Mods" folder from the extracted folder into the StarCraft II installation directory (the same place as the "Maps" folder). Your "Mods" folder should now have four Mod files and resemble graphic [4] above.
5. While your newly placed "Starcraft Mass Recall" folder within the "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [5] below.
Other (older) manual installation guides:
- Step-by-step Installation Guide (English)
- Installations-Handbuch (Deutsch)
Alternative ways to play
If the above doesn't work for you, first and foremost make sure that:
- you have all the necessary files in the right directories
- you've set the correct paths for the shortcut
- you're running the latest version of StarCraft II
Alternative way to play without the shortcut:
- locate SC2Switcher.exe in the Support folder (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Support
- locate the SCMR Campaign Launcher file in (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Maps/Starcraft Mass Recall
- drag and drop the SCMR Campaign Launcher file to SC2Switcher.exe
If you wish to play while logged on to Battle.net, you will need to take the following steps:
- Launch StarCraft II using the Battle.net launcher
- Alt-tab to Desktop
- Launch StarCraft: Mass Recall using the created shortcut
Note that you can still save and load any SCMR map, as long as you're logged in.
Bonus Campaign - Enslavers Redux Installation
ZIP Download - https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall/files/3246278
This file includes a new 30-mission extra bonus campaign "Enslavers Redux" by OmegaWeaponX! This series contains 4 episodes, with 9 unique maps per Terran, Protoss, and Zerg races, with 3 epilogue maps. Content and story is based on the original Enslavers custom maps in StarCraft and Dark Vengeance maps in Brood War. Features brand new dialog and story, missions, and enhanced heroes with their own level-up mechanics! Learn what happens between the major StarCraft episodes and the events leading up to StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty!
While this custom campaign can be played stand-alone by opening up the unique Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launching missions from there, it is also integrated into Mass Recall via the "Extras" menu. In order to load it properly in for the Mass Recall Launcher to work with this campaign, follow these instructions:
- Download the above ZIP-file containing Enslavers Redux
- Go into your StarCraft II folder -> SCMR Mass Recall -> Extras:
- Within Extras, place your ZIP-file, then uncompress it there. You should have a folder that says 8. Enslavers Redux. It should look like this now:
- You've got Enslavers Redux installed! Now from the SCMR Campaign Launcher go to Extras and click on the Enslavers Redux menu panel. You can launch any mission from here or open the Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launch missions from there!
Please note - This campaign has no unique audio for voices and as such it is required that subtitles are enabled in order to actually read what transmissions are saying :)

Troubleshooting
“I swear it's always some damn thing.” – Joeyray
Make sure to check out the auto install and manual install video guides also linked above. The end result in these videos is the same, regardless of install method.
Also make sure you're using an up-to-date version of StarCraft II.
Common issues:
- Param/Value/-Error: If lots of texts are like that, you may have a problem with your Mods: Delete SCMRmod and SCMRlocal, and re-download them from the links above. If it is only one or two lines (say, a mission objective), report it in the comments section (in that case, please specify which language you are playing in).
- Dependency cannot be loaded: The Mods are not at the proper place. Check that you have put your Mods (SCMRmod, SCMRassets and SCMRlocal) in the "Mods" folder, as on the pictures above.
- Unable to load map: Your Maps are not at the proper place. Check that you have put the episode files such as "1. Rebel Yell" in a folder "Starcraft Mass Recall", itself to be placed in "Maps", as on the pictures above.

Ok, found the culprit and it wasn't on my end:
Somehow, deinstalling the RetroMod resolve the problem. With retro mod, no modern unit speech at all, with the standard one, no problem.
Never mind I found the retro add-on in the right panel. But the link in the main page doesn't work.
@darivlad: Go
Looks like you don't need a new mod file for it, just the new Launcher and Cinema Player map files.
was the previous "SCMRmodRetro_v6.1" the same as the now-online "SCMRmodretro.SC2Mod"?
Where is the retro mod? It says page not found.
Guys, I noticed that the last Cinema Addon download (from the front page) does not contain the mod file. Is that intentional?

Thanks for the hard and excellent work.
I have seen some specific bugs, the first in some missions lips do not move in the portrait of the character when they speak.
Another thing is what already mentioned in some comments, Tassadar can not be selected with the drag-box-selection, also when it is selected in a squad not have the priority and not listed as first unit on the list as does happen with the other heroes.
I am using the Retromod and I have not selected the option "UED variants", however in-game I have the classic models of this option, this is some kind of bug? This mod replaces the models beyond whether or not you have checked the box?.
And last suggestion, the portrait of Raynor when not using the armor I think would be better and more consistent that use this one: Raynor Portrait
Thank you for the hours of fun that give us this great remake!
PS: My English sucks, sorry.
The following files were not found: "Mods\SCMRcore.sc2mod", "Mods\SCMRcinematics.SC2Mod", "Maps\Starcraft Mass Recall\SCMR Cinematic Player.SC2Map",
from the installer. where do these come from? i have all the required zips in the same folder.
I found a bug. I was playing the protoss campaign and had my army near a shield battery that was still warping in. I tried selecting all my units but only the incomplete shield battery got selected every time. This only happens if the structure isn't finished.
Also, Tassadar has a select priority even lower than a zealot or marine!
Hi all, I have a problem I am not able to solve (I even tried to reistall the game but it doesn't help).
My problem is with audio, to be specific, with all BW sounds enabled, I noticed the problem when, in Loomings 01, the Cerberus Firebats had no sound. I continue and I found that, in mission Loomings 02, they also have no sound.
So I decided to actually check if all was fine, by disabling BW sounds. Then, all units started to have no sounds, and in Loomings 02 only Cerberus Goliaths and SCV had sound, for the Goliaths the BW sound and for the SCV a mix of BW and SC2.
I am italian, but I downloaded the game in full english translation by Battle.net.
One thing I also noticed, is that when I run the .cmd file to run the auto install, if I run it with admin privileges, it tells me that it is not in the SC2.exe folder (while it actually is) and if I run it without admin priv it tells me Access Denied, but still install everything.
Now, I think all is correlated, since Blizz Terran Campaign has all sounds for units and such and everything works fine, can you help me please?
Just gonna make a note, playing through right now with all the 6.1 updates, including the retro mod, and at the end of the terran level "New Gettysburg" (the no-base hidden level), after the end of the cinematic, the victory screen never triggers. It plays through the cinematic, and after clicking past the text blurb, it just goes to a black screen and never goes to the victory screen to continue. Also, I just realized the level is called "Operation Silent Scream." I got confused because the loading screen appears to still be slightly wonky, and said New Gettysburg instead of the proper level name.
EDIT: Uhh, I just discovered a BIT of a problem. In New Gettysburg (the Kerrigan gets abandoned level), if you have the Cityscape up, part of the supposedly-umpassable terrain is... not impassable. In the cityscape, the pit is replaced by a large building. But not only can units move through it (which may be interfering with targetting as well, incidentally), it also appears to be usable for construction?
Long story short: Units can move where they shouldn't be able to in New Gettysburg Cityscape terrain.
EDIT 2: The in-game cinematic version of Mengsk's coronation doesn't appear to be playing the audio of said cinematic. I can hear a few in-game sounds, but the cinematic's sound is absent. (I have the cinematic mod, but for now have it turned off, as I wanna see the in-game versions you guys have made! :D)
EDIT 3: Also, looking back a page or two, there's a comment saying Tassadar cannot be selected with the drag-box-selection method. If I'm not mistaken, that new Tassadar model is from Thrikodias here on SC2mapster, is it not? If so, he made a post on September 11 that he'd discovered exactly that bug affecting several models he'd uploaded - including Tassadar. The same post stated that he'd corrected the error with the model and re-uploaded the asset. If I'm correct about it being the model uploaded by Thrikodias, then that's very likely the source of the issue right there, as I also noticed I could not drag-box select Tassadar's illusion at the end of that one zerg level where Kerrigan must face him alone. Should have been able to even as an enemy unit if I've only got him in the box.
"Shield Battery recharge rate reduced from 36 to 10, can no longer target structures, energy drain is now 1 energy for 2 shields, cost reduced from 200 minerals to 100" - yeah, it also was needed to fix, because early in the mission "Dark Hunters" for protosses just 2 Photon Cannons with Battery Shields behind them gave very strong protection against AI-waves with Ultralisks / Zerglings / Defilers / else, though they just used default parameters from LotV (hm, in the last one zergs with hybrids do not have so much problems to destroy the defense with the greater number of PhC+BSh).
@Jones313: Go
Yes I am using the cinema add-on.
OK it works, all I had to do was to read the readme file of "xxxSCMRcinema_v6.0_to_6.1_patch": to be used with the cinema addon only: to update existing Mass Recall v6.0 installation, replace the campaign launcher & cinema player files in the Starcraft Mass Recall directory with these
I just wanna say, I just noticed something that makes me very happy.
My SCV's are on patrol on auto-repair... and they aren't going bonkers trying to repair something they can't reach. This feels new. Like, I've got supply depots in front of my bunkers to help funnel zerglings, but the bunkers block the path from the SCV to the depots. The Depots are damaged, and my SCV, despite being on auto-repair, isn't scrambling trying in vain to get at the depots to repair them!
It was a small thing, but it bugged me, and I love that they don't do that anymore. Also: LOVE that new Carrier model!
Hi Guys
I just want to say that the team did an amazing job with these mods. The lore is accurate and its much better playing these mods than the old junk that blizzard created in the past. Although, that old junk was really good in its time, but now it is seemingly outdated. If blizzard doesn't hire you as their future gaming team, well then they are completely foolish. Amazing work though I really love this mod.
In your mod folder, there are some files that doesn't exist anymore (liberty.sc2mod, swarm.sc2mod, etc). You may probably do a clean install before attempting to run the mod again.
I am up-to-date, then. I'm curious as to why I was thought to be on a highly un-updated version, but that's beside the point. I still am going to need help on the SCMRLocal not being found. :\
@Sufertikki : launch Battle.net app, it should update the game to the latest version : 3.6.0.46154 at this point.
@Kostyarik
I can ensure you, it's not pirated.
In terms of outdated, can you explain to me how I can fix that?
