Can someone make a more indepth post about getting the WC3 units and such added? I added the 'Warcraft III (Art Mod)" and nothing shows up in the data viewer at all, so I am fairly lost at how to get them added.
Go in Windows/Console, type browse in the console interface. Check for War3 files. Enjoy
omfg we are so screwed, didnt know that it is THAT worse with heroes (no1 is really interested in it except , prolly , us)
There is only one way blizz might attract alot of ppl, a shared arcade :D. i dunno about dota2 or LoL custom maps but this could be really THE way. once you are pissed of Heroes you just play a custom, one of the many great ones out there (and which can be actually found by any1 looking for a certain map until then, hopefully)
Also more assets are needed like terrain textures. It's also important that people create a common basis for wc3/fantasy elements. I fear we'll see multiple people try to replicate the same wc3 ability (or other data stuff).
That is very true, Wc3 will remain the training wheels for Blizzard modding.
Sadly I am afraid that you are right, I hope that LotV will have a succes with the Arcade enough great to can steal some people to WC3... I don't understand why people prefer Fantasy over Sci-Fi on every medium
Thx to @TaylorMouse: Go and @egodbout: Go, but i knew how to add models to my map before =))).
I`m talking about data files that was anounced by Renee. Open "Mods" folder in ur PTR folder. There is "war3data.SC2mod" and "war3multi.SC2mod" folders inside, and there is mpq archives inside this folders. There is XML files with units/ability/weapon etc. data inside archives. How to add this data to my map? I can just copy XML code, but it looks weird for official way of accessing wc3 data.
Models located in "War3.SC2Mod" folder and i can add them just using dependencies.
I found "war3data.SC2mod" and "war3multi.SC2mod" folders (strange but its folder not SC2mod file) . How could i add it into my map?
You just need to wait for the server on to download the whole version of data mod from the battle.net, just like how you use the aiur-chief mod. Since the one on your disk lack components files.
You can manually add miss files to open it. But if you doesn't have some knowledge about the construct, if could be messed up.
The art mod, in another hand, could be used directly just like the Liberty/Swarm mod.
It's just that simple:
Data Mod is a published mod, just like a normal mod which we can create by ourselves and publish it to the battle.net
While Art mod is a built-in mod like liberty and swarm, they are part of the client, and can be directly access by the editor. which is the kind of mod we can never create our self .
will the data mod include the spells of said warcraft 3 heroes? For instance say i want to use blademaster, Do i have to create windwalk/mirror image/critical strike/ Bladestorm?
I suspect it's not. Art mod is huge, so they didn't want players to download it from bnet, so they added it to the client. While Data mod is just xml data, it's light to download and won't contain art.

I am not so sure about it, the editor of sc2 is way more complex of the wc3 one...

i made one of the first RPG on battle.net long long time ago during WC3, now will all those model, i feel nostalgic! very nice add from blizzard

Export model one by one to your map
Don't do that, don't export them one by one!!
Open the Editor (PTR)
go to File-> Dependecies, press the Add Standard button and check the checkbox on Warcraf III(Art Mod)
If you don't want to use the PTR editor, copy the folders to the SC2 MOD folder (same place where they are in the PTR)

You can add the models by creating models under the models tab in the editor.
Still alive and kicking, just busy.
My guide to the trigger editor (still a work in progress)
I just posted this here but to reiterate, we pushed back the release till Monday morning so that we'd be in the office in case any issues pop up.
"release" = enable PTR login server or what does release mean in this context?
