I am trying to implement heroes into the normal melee game of Starcraft 2. I am writing a dissertation on the idea of adding heroes to a more macro focused game like Starcraft as of Warcraft 3, I am having trouble with the editor it doesn't seem as simple or kind as the Warcraft 3 editor. Is there anyone who can quickly help me set this map up? I am happy to repay in kind I am a good drawer!
All I am simply adding for now ( once this has been completed I imagine the rest to be easy ) -
1 hero for each race with a building to build from ( such as the alter ) this is for all races, is the possible for zerg?
Each hero will have base stats derived from a unit of the race, they will cost money to revive at the "alter"
They will also have some custom abilities which I need help with ( AOE speed boost ect... ) and an ultimate at level 6 just like in Warcraft 3, is this doable? I am starting my 3rd year so i would need to able to complete the prototype in like, 1-2 months before testing/balancing
If you design everything all your heroes are supposed to have and write it all down it shouldn't take to long to finish.
The hardest part by far is becoming familiar with the editor but once you get the hang of it everything is pretty easy to complete.
But because it is tricky you will need the documentation to make the process less painful.
And really when you think of it Starcraft 2 is a great system to build games or concepts from for university courses.
Most my professors are interested in it when it comes to game design or prototyping.

Depending on the level of the hero in wc3 they can usually take on multiple units without using abilities. If you were to balance SC2 heroes around that concept they'd still die incredibly fast, they'd just kill more things. You can't really make them have too much health because then they just become tanks. And a Marine Hero "tanking" an ultralisk is just silly. Heroes in SC2 imo would probably just have double the health and damage of a normal unit of its type and have some sort of devastating attacks and escape mechanics.
Terran probably wouldn't have a melee hero, if they would they would be a ghost type unit that can cloak or a really heavily armored mech unit. Zerg and Protoss a little more easy getting in peoples faces. Terran are more of a stand back and shoot you from relative safety type.

i have noticed the different hit point scale .. yes?
i never fathom "putting down" sc .. but it is the same game as "orc vs humans" (multiplayer) available for free 20+ years ago
the addition of heroes spawned a spin off version bread from the same logics / concepts
the mechanics and meta align with the different parameters, of course
..
but fundamentaly .. adding heroes to sc in multiplayer is re doing warcraft 3

(other game mechanics could yet be added to sc in conjunction with "adding" heroes ; other avenues and logics are out there, trust me)
just for a "for instance" .. would they respawn? (referencing wonderful w3 does not mean everything is not up for grabs, does it?)
