I've been on the sidelines lately with my PC being down, but I try to maintain a presence on this site. Hopefully in the next month I will be up and running with editing again!
Anyways!! I have a plan to combat the spam!! A letter-writing campaign to Curse!! :):):) I wrote something. Please feel free to change or rewrite to help us address this annoying issue. After we got our form letter I will get a few curse emails that we can blast our letter-writing campaign off to. It'll have to be a sustained effort on our part, but I think it is worth it for us and for them!!
Dearest Curse,
I sincerely appreciate that you are hosting Sc2Mapster. I have (number of projects) hosted on this server as well as actively participate in the forums, my specialty being (data, triggers, campaigns, etc) for the last (number of years) years. I appreciate you hosting this site even more with the knowledge that the Starcraft franchise has been in a slow decline over the last few years. However, I feel with Blizzard’s recent efforts (Lotv, Arcade contests, WoW assets, Allied Commanders) we will see a resurgence of interest and in all likelihood a more long-term sustain interest in the coming years. Sc2Mapster is a reflection of the Curse community, although a small one. Gamers who find their way to Sc2Mapster find the community helpful and inspiring, but the site a mess of spam and out of date material, which reflects poorly on Curse. I, (User name) a humble user of Sc2Mapster, beseech you to please implement a more robust sign-up program to help us combat the massive level of spam that we are barraged with everyday. Examples of Spam programs? Sc2Mapster is part of the Curse family and we want to reflect the greatness that is Curse????
Help us Curse...you are our only hope.

I feel it's best to get to your point ASAP in writing. In that entire block of text, your point of anti-spam measures doesn't appear until the bottom. And frankly everything above it feels like filler. I understand you're trying to establish credibility for yourself, but perhaps that could be moved to the end of the paragraph rather than the beginning.
Perhaps you could phrase it something like:
We need anti-spam measures.
Examples and/or sentence explaining the amount of spam that has been appearing in forum.

I sincerely appreciate that you are hosting Sc2Mapster, but everyday I come to this site and find it under siege by spambots! It is demoralizing to refer people to this site and the top 5 posts are spams. It is heartbreaking to watch a community-driven wiki constantly under attack by spam. I think Sc2Mapster has become a poor reflection of Curse the company, which I know is a top-notch gamer company. It does not have to be this way. Please implement some sort of spam-detection/captcha system [what do we want??????]

What, you mean mapster is meant to be used for something other than getting excellent deals for kitchen equipments and purchasing services of black mages to solve whatever domestic issues you're having (presumably caused by relying on shady kitchen deals in the first place)? Well, that's new to me :|
If we are to send mass letter I'd probably send something like this:
Quote:
Dearest Curse,
In the anticipation of StarCraft’s final expansion (Legacy of the Void), and since Blizzard has stated that they have plans to support IP post-expansion, would it be possible for Curse to implement some form of anti-advertisement-bot measures for SC2Mapster? SC2Mapster remains as the biggest comprehensive editor knowledge database, therefore it’s the most referred to resource on the internet when it comes to StarCraft2 mod creation.
Unfortunately, half of the time I visit the site, the front page is filled with advertisement topics for improving male sexual performance, cheap kitchen tools, black magic to help ones love affairs and all sorts of other unsightly topics.
Moderators have made it clear that their powers are limited in regards to implementing modern anti-spam measures and they cannot remove spam 24/7, which sometimes results in advertisement topics staying on front page for majority of the day.
As it stands, to a person not familiar with community SC2Mapster would appear as a third rate abandoned website that serves as spam-bot playground, even though underneath there is still a surviving and somewhat enthusiastic community that is weary of websites poor display turning away potential members.
We’ve been told that only Curse has the authority to do anything in regards to the website, so Curse is the only one to whom we can appeal - please, address the issue, if possible - prior to StarCraft2 Legacy of the Void launch in winter this year so that Mapster can welcome expansion driven player influx without the stigma of being Curses bastard child.
Sincerely, long time SC2 modmaker and forum user, [Real Name] aka [MapMaking Name].
