I hope they go into more detail than just "we'll continue to support sc2 with patches and create content for arcade, melee, co-op and occasional scenarios". I just hope they don't sit on their bums for too long. They should either create another addon or just start with WC4.
The only question I would like to have answered/feature that I want:
They should give the option that if only a single player is in the Arcade map, that the map is hosted locally on the players computer (just like if you were to start the map directly through the editor), so theres no lag if hes playing it alone. Or alternatively add a "singleplayer" checkbox option to the editor which determines that this map will always be played locally when someone starts it through the Arcade, with the tradeoff that the map requires to be a 1 player map.
This would allow for maps that play well in both singleplayer and multiplayer (like for example RPG´s) to be played 100% lagless if the player just wants to play it alone. In the latter option, one could upload a version just for singleplayer thats always without lag

i would have agreed on that but patch 3.0 made alot of things available for multiplayer. tracking mouse movement doesnt lack as much as it did in the past. i revitalize an old map project. once it is playable i will post the link to it, it works with alot of mouse/button tracking.
I'd rather have a map file that can link the player(s) directly to other maps, like in SC1 custom campaigns, instead of just a standard arcade screen. This way we could go crazy and make it look the way we want. I have suggested the arcade list of maps before but it isn't the best approach.
My ideal solution would be a campaign file format, similar to w3n format for custom Warcraft3 campaigns, that would launch Starcraft 2 when doubleclicked and opened it's own campaign menu. All offline, lagless and with save function.
The Arcade could have project pages which had links to the campaign files on the regular web (for greater size limits) and clicking on them would automatically download the campaign and put it in a Campaign folder under Maps ready to be played offline at the Custom Campaign tab. Only the right file format would be accepted by the Arcade.
I'm not even sure what that means. They already work on modern OS as far as I know. Hopefully we get updated graphics, controls and battle.net support.
I guess those games have more underlying problems that the end user doesn't really experience but Blizzard wants to clean their code. This could actually lead to higher resolutions, battle.net 2 support, and other things. Although, do people actually want the new battle.net in their old SC?

if bnet 2.0 keeps loading forever (which it does since day 1) then no.

WOW, this is how we should search news :D. They don't need to create warcraft 4 and other games. Just make Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 in HD and people will buy it again. I think Warcraft 3 HD will kill SC2, lol. Cause it still have more mapmakers and thousands of maps.
Heroes of the Storm and StarCraft II will continue to share the same engine and be maintained together. It makes no sense from a project management point of view that they should now branch off and go separate ways as that is then 2 maintenance tasks. That said you may find that most SC2 updates add new features that were needed in Heroes of the Storm.

i dont think The Future of Starcraft 2 panel is only a few missions, campaigns and co-op maps...
That is not the future for me but the annoncement of the End.

That's a good idea. Especially to allow players to save.
I would think the Heroes team would share a similar goal since Heroes would not exist without the Arcade/Modding scene.
Hey Bounty
What is this Patreon website your on? its new? it working?

one can dream..
Its an alternative to Kickstarter where people pledge money and you deliver content, and nope, its not working.
Apparently my work is not worth much >.<
I won't use words that is so extreme.
Given that the Heroes is already live for 1 year, and there is no sign of them to do any Arcade things.

Btw, how are Heroes doing in terms of popularity amongst players? Any Dota-like success noticable?

i would say, no: https://www.google.com/trends/explore?hl=en-GB#q=%2Fm%2F03czv2b%2C%20%2Fm%2F02mj6l%2C%20Heroes%20of%20the%20Storm%2C%20%2Fm%2F04n3w2r%2C%20%2Fm%2F0dlkwn1&cmpt=q&tz=Etc%2FGMT-1

I meant the roots of the game (and other dotas) were born from Blizzards custom game/modding scene.
As a result, one would imagine that they have a sort of "special place in their hearts" type of relationship with mods/arcade.

If anything like a remake or a wc4 came i'd definitely renake my old maps (if i have time)
The java program used for diablo2 is soooo outdated! I cant imagine the time needed to import all the diablo2 stuff into a 2015 engine.
This game a so much sprites its unbeliveble!
This is hillarious and the thing that make it so is that is true :D. Just brings marketing to the Next Level. ahah

Though, the war3 hd at least need a more powerful editor than the orginal one to be successful.
