WTE 138 has not been posted yet, should one of us post it up for mozared? If so, should we take SheogorathSC's Idea, or Save it for next week and come up with our own?
I gave up on WTE #138 because I was way too late and ended up being way too busy. Figured we could treat like it never happened and 137 would be extended. If I put it up now there's only 4 days on the theme left.
Then again, I can extend it. Might as well then, I guess.
Um or even design your own starcraft sport..like, what do you think protoss plays in freetime when they dont practice their psy abilities? Or the zerg when they got nothing to do? Think of a bunch of overlords forgotton in the back of your base... do they play cards waiting the game to end?
I found in the actors, there is a flag that lets you turn wireframe mode on and off for certain models, or under the render tab at the top of the editor, there is a wireframe mode. This could make for a cool super virtual world effect, or you could place something like this on a star map or briefing. So I made a quick test of this, the first picture is without wireframe mode, and the second one is with wireframe mode with a green tint and lit up a bit more with the tint. Could call this one A Virtual World.
I like the idea, Joecab. Could you put up a small guide (thinking 4-5 lines) as to how to achieve this effect exactly? I'd like to use it for a WTE, but the issue is that it would require people to turn all their doodads into wireframes before they could play around, which is hard to do. If we can make the concept more accessible, I'll definitely use it.
Sure I will write up a step guide on how to do it. There are 2 main ways to achieve this effect.
To change everything to a wireframe in 5 seconds or less, open the editor terrain window, click on "render" at the 4th button over from the top left in the toolbar, and click wireframe mode. This changes everything to a wireframe.
To change specific actors / doodads, open the data editor, Click on the actor's tab, find the actor / doodad you want to change to a wireframe and click on it. (Now in the part on the right search "flags" in the search bar.) You should see one of the fields called "model flags". Click on it and check the box that says "wireframe render". this changes the single actor / doodad to a wireframe mode.
Perhaps there could be a re-creation theme? Pick a scene from your favorite movie, tv show, etc. and make that in the editor! Sorry if this has been done before, I couldn't remember. But this could be an interesting experiment in molding real imagery into the editor.

I do terrain stuff.
...
And in a Starcraft haiku,
...
That's all I can do!
Frequently, people will pick by themself a picture on the week's theme on the net and try to recreate it. It has been made in the past, but not directly as a whole wte I believe.
Suggestions help, though - I run out of ideas every week =P. There's some stuff I can use in here, though. I've also been meaning to use Joecab's wireframe idea but haven't gotten around to coming up with an easy way for everyone to make use of wireframe as to make the WTE accessible.
So you pick randomly one of eatch and make random sentence like: The Ursadon play with bubbles. The Zerg love monkey. The Protoss play with a steak. The Xel'naga eat stars.
And this inspires your terrain. You only make one sentence and have fun with it :D
What about making a war machine. It could be a zerg kind of cannon, a terran tank inspired of classic tanks, a protoss arsenal...whatever epic weapon. I know we had some theme with post containing such weapons...but now with the pitch and roll, you can make... what you imagine. (Did I post that right after listening to the BF2 theme... nah...maybe)
Another idea. List all the terrain set, randomly pick 2 of those, and try to combine them. For example: if you get Space Platform and Volcanic terrain set, you have to find a way to have a volcanic space platform which could be great... of course this could lead to some more boring one like agria and a similar normal planet terrain set, but I think the probability to get something interesting is big. Imagine Kaldir mixed with the Zerus... a frozen rain forest... how epic that would be?
I guess that when you have ideas, you should share them before forgetting them... So, that's what I do when I have one. I'm suprised Mozared hasn't run out of ideas yet.
Do That Doodad can be used as a filler, but otherwise I just pull subjects out of thin air depending on any thought I get. There's plenty of procedural things to adjust and a million different possible landscapes (and even more combinations of those), but keeping each theme truly original is pretty damn challenging. Straight up using ideas posted here gives me some slack for a week, usually.

How about a sports arena theme? You have to build a sports arena, baseball, football(american), other football, hockey, etc.

I like that idea too, but that requires back round, but dosen't mean they can't be at the same time.

At this point there are few ideas still poping... such as me that would like to recreate Shoe' picture from wte 147 (http://th03.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2012/237/6/4/toxic_by_joakimolofsson-d5cc2md.jpg)
Or tata' wanting a copy-paste style wte said in wte 148..
And you coming with a recreating style wte. Which is similar to my idea, but more general.
At this point I dunno, it's up to Mozared... and honestly, he's doing a great job finding theme every weeks since...dam long.

Well, simply use the Wireframe view from the editor, no need of anything else. It won't be as much light green as Joecab' one but it's fine ;)
