sorry, im old, i don't get it, could someone civil help me out with a link or an explanation (preferably both of course)
it is not free as in "payment"
it is free as in ..?
Wonderful! Excitement worthy news, I'm glad I stayed around =D
Also, does this mean that when designing any sort of competitive map you should take in consideration that teams might have map hackers, since now there is really no a way to ban them?

People still need a Battle-net account, and it's not all fun to create a new one too often. Don't think you have to worry about it, if it's going to be a real problem for maps, I'm sure Blizzard figures something :)
What I meant was, most Arcade players are just ppl taking a break from melee. Most of page 1 is Tug of War, TD, Footman Frenzy and AoS. Stuff that is dumbed down melee in many sense.
Since now in theory we will have infinitely more ppl coming from everywhere and other gaming backgrounds (not just melee players taking a break from melee), potentially alternative maps will have bigger potential.
In other words maybe the most popular maps genres will change ;)
The recent changes mean you do not have to purchase the full version of StarCraft 2 to use the Arcade. It allows people who have the free Starter Edition to be able to fully use the arcade - I'm not 100% sure but I assume this also means that the HotS Dependency is available to, therefore making spawning obsolete.
Hope this helps!

This. This is amazing. I don't even know what else to say.
I told you Blizzard is not the devil. Awesome indeed. Indeeeed.
:D
sounds good, but too late.............
not interested :(
I guess it means you can make maps more outside the box, not just inclinded to the 'rts' genre.
Its a trap!
It must be:)
Wow only just heard about this. Awesome! :D:D

Do many people actually play the Starter Edition or is it looked at as just an expanded demo?
I somehow can't picture anyone being interested in Arcade and other free features who hasn't already bought the game.
No, and you never have such a restrictions before.
The message in the Blizzcon is very clear. Except the Campaign and the Ladder part, the game would become completely free after patch 2.1
I just not sure if it would also means that Starter Editon users can also use the Test Document feature of the Editor.
This is definitely a positive change.
Though, it can not add alot of new arcade players, unless there will be a direct "go play sc2 arcade" button in HotSt.
Also, some general advertising on game related portals could bring some players.
ha not too many ppl left to play sc2 at all, this won't change anything
@Renee2islga: Go
