Again, sorry for the delay, but we're here nevertheless! This week's theme is a little bit more sophisticated than what we've had the last few weeks. Going with the lyrics of an old Dylan song, "The times they are a-changin' ", the idea is that this week you'll be making two versions of a terrain: one "now" version and one "30 years ago/later" version. For example: you first make yourself an Agria forest and then create a '30 years later' version out of it where the forest has been settled by Terran colonists. Or you make a '30 years ago' version where the trees in the forest were still rather small and there was far less overgrowth.
Basically, whatever you feel like goes - the time is this week's theme. Good luck and have fun!
Well, normally this would be a chance for me to make some Before/After scenes, but I've already posted a lot on that topic. Besides, just too busy destroying and infesting the city, as well as making experiments with some natural doodads, as Mozared would like to see in the future.
Howdy! Here's my quick contribution. (Note - If your confused as to how the "after" image came to be, take a good look at that big ol' nuke in the "before" image)

I do terrain stuff.
...
And in a Starcraft haiku,
...
That's all I can do!
I like that terrain, though I don't really like how the water is completely gone in the second picture. It may or may not be more realistic, but try maybe adding in the water in the 'after' terrain but making it a sickly yellow or green colour instead?
Better, though I think you should lessen the fog by a large load to make the water better visible from a high angle.
Additionally: if you compare your 'before' picture with your 'after' picture you'll see that the 'after' picture looks mostly like the scene from the 'before' picture was bombed by planes or something. The fact that you had to tell us that the nuke in the first picture was what caused all this kind of demonstrates that. I think you can improve this by making the 'after' picture look more like the nuke really was the epicentre of the explosion. Rather than dragging the noise brush over the main platform, create a crater around where the nuke was. Then make sure the middle of the crater literally only has rock left, whilst more types of dirt and sand start showing up as the crater grows outward. Additionally, remove the ruins closest to the location of the nuke.
In a nutshell: Imagine the nuclear missile as it's standing there, and imagine how it would blow up with an outward force. It wouldn't create multiple craters on the terrain in front of it, but rather push everything away from the epicentre.
Elo, thought I might as well contribute a quick one, I was initially going to do a revolution but then I found blue fire :) , 30 years later the protoss invade and destroy the city.
It's very nice. That's a hell-lot of civilans / colonists! Just a thing in overall, I don't feel the 30 years difference, but more like a straight battle that lasted a day or so. What would have been more nice maybe is a protoss base using the old terran design, paths, and such. There this would be a real change that technically would take more than a day to happend.
If we compare with Hydra's terrain, yes his terrain is a nuke explosion and it could happends in a day... but the fact that the whole water is colored, the fact that there is no more asphalt makes the thing more about a long time scale. One thing about his terrain that bugs me is: if it's a nuke explosion, where is the hole, how did the cliff not break during the explosion, how did the building stay there and not blow around leaving pieces in the trees or whatever...
About the nuke, this may sound a bit pedantic, but it is very possible that some buildings would still be standing, and there most likely would not be any hole, as nukes are typically detonated in the air. Most of the damage comes from the extremely hot shockwave burning everything, and the nuclear fallout. So, his terrain isn't as inaccurate as you may think.
I'm assuming the nuke exploded where it stood, though. If it actually got fired, it must've been SERIOUSLY unlucky for those Terrans to explode close enough for it to hit them =P
And some stuff could definitely still be left standing, I just think that one big crater would make a bit more sense overall.
Anyway, nuke or not, I finally got some inspiration for this wte... been working so hard lately that when you get home you just don't want to do anything.
I took around 2 hours to do this. It's not perfect, it could still be alot improved, but in overall it's fine. I wanted to do a mine entrance in the desert and turn it to ice terrain. Just like if the desert in 30 years has changed to ice for x reason. What stands here have been left to itself and the hard weather of ice environment. It would have been nice to have landing light model without actual lightning. I think it's pretty nice, but not my best terrain haha!
Cool, so far we've got different kind of terrain...
Normal environment vs radiated environment
City vs ...destroyed city I guess
Desert vs Ice
Lava vs Forest
What's gonna be the next?
Personal note: This inspires me for a WTE idea... pick 2 random number between some sort of general terrain like desert, ice, lava, forest, space, etc. and do something mixing both or opposing both or before after, etc whatever idea would come out of there.
I've seen people asking how to make underwater terrain, so an ancient city and then sunken sounds like a great idea. You might wanna add the err ... Lemurians and Atlanteans... A lot of interesting ideas can be taken from mysteries, conspiracies, and things that these stories describe.

I like this theme. I'll try to participate this week.

Gotcha. I also included a closer look at the water.

Maybe needs some obsidian and cooled down lava?

Nah, the terraformer (bio dome because I couldn't find anything better) needed the lava to fuel its operations... So you can guess it sucked it up.
