Tried both ways - moving them off into the valley left the right side barren, so I did the other variation and voila! Once again sun vs sunless. I should point out that I did some colour corrections and grading in Adobe After Effects, both to make the sun work and to correct some errors caused by my print screen. I uploaded the original image along side the final 2.
PS. I also played with the scale of the buildings to give some more depth.
I think you just slightly overdid the scaling on those smaller buildings. They look too small to be realistic now. Make them a little bit bigger and your scene should be perfect.
Hmmm... I think you can add a few more houses around the exact middle of the screenshot, so that it looks like the village slowly 'trails off' there as well. There's a bit of an outcrop of cliff just below of where your sun is in most of your pictures... 3 or for houses between that point and your current village should be good.
Lastly, you might need to lower some of the houses in the far background - a couple of them vaguely appear to be floating.
It's funny, everytime you update it I see something else you could do to improve it.
I might suggest a few small strategically placed bush/rock clusters in the foreground to fill in the empty terrain. Personally I've always been a fan of the Brambles doodad for desert scenes like that.
Try putting some more sparse plants around the rocks in the background. Also, maybe do some more with the textures. Try a darker texture in between the hills, perhaps.
This is quite funny seeing Hydra's terrain evolution.
It is Heart of the Swarm Man, everything evolves now. I personally was expecting a crap ton of participation when I saw 2 pages for the first time in a long time, but I can dig this as well :) It really is looking fantastic. I drool over any glare effect that is well used personally lol
My only 2 Critiques would be to add some texture to the mountains in the distance, and the second one being a personal preference, the jagged rocks to the bottom and bottom right-ish looked a bit odd to me.

Alright, here we go. Here's my further updated scene. Again, I'm never closed to criticism.

I hope I understood you... Here's the next update!

Duly noted, fine young man!

I think perhaps a small plant next to that sign, along with a small rock would do nicely.
Ok, here it is. Tell me if you think there are too many plants/rocks, and I'll correct them.

Working on projects:

Well I just finished this next update - mountain textures woohoo!
Edit: And tomorrow I'll see what I can do about those jagged rocks, joecab.
Past the project I've been working on here, I got a sudden Idea and I think it worked well. This is just a simple palace shot.
EDIT: Guh, couldn't resist posting a Michael Bay version.

Simple but effective. One doodad in front of an empty skybox.
You guys just gave me an idea for a WTE...
Ok, another simple one. I'm starting to like this Palace doodad...
You just gave me another idea.
Note to self before I forget them again: Michael Bay and Minimalistic.
My oh my, here comes another. Might be the last one, I'm not sure. Anyway, I thought a scale shot would be cool, so I cranked this out.

You are really liking that palace aren't you? :P
