This week I've been listening to a lot of Enter Shikari, and as a result the titles of one of their songs has served as the inspiration for this week's WTE: "The Last Garrison". The idea for the upcoming seven days is that you guys terrain some kind of last garrison or outpost at the edge of a faction's territory. So, a border outpost in a far outer region of Dominion space, for example. Or perhaps the last outpost before entering the wilderness on an otherwise inhabited planet. Use your imagination!
Here is my try. I kind of had in mind the cinematic with Fenix at Antioch in sc1 with the huge desert in front of him. Here is a more simplistic outpost.
This is THAT kind of terrain that I'll would like to make in my map with a generator. Could you add the map please? I would like to see how you've done the curves.
I added the map. I didn't thought it was that good xD
I first use the height tool, large, and made some not straight diagonals. Then between the hills and on some parts of it, i added smaller heigh to make the peaks and like dunes on a dune. Then a bit of smoothing.
The rest is the terrain set fog that is modified to sand-ish color, I made a skybox doodad which i tinted too, and used a camera with depth of field. There are also some hidden volcanoes underground to create some heat waves effect that are barely visible :( and some wind environment, tinted too.
@Mozared:
Just a random question, I've noticed that whenever i write code in my reply, they does nothing; no clickable link or anything, can't embed video or image its just raw code. Any idea?

It depends on the Markup Type you're using (beneath the post you're typing), and some things just don't work in general. I use BBCode, for example, but what the website actually does is turn BBCode into WikiCreole, the standard markup type for the website (which I don't like very much), which is then turned into actual text make-up. That said: in some of these types coding and links just aren't sorted well, and using them may work weirdly or not at all. In general, if you learn WikiCreole and only use mark-up types indigenous to WikiCreole, everything should fine - it's just that nobody does this and the translation process for Markups>WikiCreole>Website is shit.

Alright. I might have found it. Yay there are links!
It really has a Maze Runner-esque feeling to it now. Like there's this whole natural area that is in some way man-made and surrounded by a strong metallic wall. Wilderness | Man-made base. I like that.
I like what you've done, and you're doing a pretty good job making both the spires and the honeycomb doodads look good when placed down en masse. What it needs is size variation, though: the whole thing would look a bit more realistic if there were a lot more smaller spires (less visible ground) and some larger combs. Maybe even one or two huge ones.
Some great stuff in this thread! I have an idea of my own, but I don't think I'll finish it in time.
Well, if anyone would like to know what my idea is, it's sort of like a metallic version of creep (basically a metal nanovirus) that converts everything to more of itself, kinda like the HAWKEN virus.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #210
Hey hey folks!
This week I've been listening to a lot of Enter Shikari, and as a result the titles of one of their songs has served as the inspiration for this week's WTE: "The Last Garrison". As always, good luck, and have fun!

Something about the title got me thinking desolation, so here's a marine and his dog on a lonely posting.

The theme wasn't Fallout, though :D
@LucidIguana:
Looks cool! :D

Hah! I guess that is very Fallout-y.
I guess.
@ThePhail:
This is quite lovely.
@ThePhail: Go
It's a bit Jurrassic Park-y. I like it. Would like to see that fully fleshed out, though, especially the corners.

Thanks for the map. I opened it and I saw that it's exactly what I need. When I'll have time I'll make that generator!
Alright. I might have found it. Yay there are links!

I dont feel like touching on this anymore before the deadline
@LucidIguana: Go
That looks really good P. Im glad you are becoming a regular on the WTEs.
@ThePhail: Go
Wouuuuuuu really lovely never cease to amaze in your terrain.
@Scbroodsc2: Go
So glad to see a terrain in here. Wonderful camera angels and distance shoot. It could be a movie. I love it! :-)

@ThePhail: Go What is the texture on the road in the lower right corner?! I can't find it in the editor! :-)
