After some craziness in the last week, this week the WTE's back with a somewhat late but nevertheless interesting new theme: "Minimalistic HOTS". Though we've had 'Minimalistic' themes before, I wanted to revisited the idea with the new HOTS doodads and tilesets we got. What does this theme mean you ask? Well, it's simple: 'minimalistic' means you have to create a terrain while using as few assets as possible. The keyphrase here is 'Keep it simple'. Though before I've restricted you from using any doodads or such, I won't give you any of these restrictions this time: I just ask you to limit your doodad and texture use as much as possible while still creating something interesting.
I already had this going for my campaign but it's a fairly simple concept. Water planet with a platform. Think Kamino from Star Wars except way closer to the water. I figured it only has a few crates, units and 1 building so it should work :)
Man, I feel dirty recycling my other WTE entry, but this one is very recent so I guess I can sneak it in, as it relates to this one as well. 2 doodads (Hydralisk doodad, temple) and skybox only. I didn't use cameras, either. I'll work on a new entry for this WTE when time allows it.
I remember a doodads that creates rain circle on the ground that would fit perfectly, but I don't remember the name ... (The reason why I want to keep making my All Doodads pictures....)
Okay, I made an entry. Not sure how I feel about this one, but I guess I'll let you all be the judge. It uses only a few ice shear doodads, and an ice cave doodad. I would of made it so the background held a skybox, but Kaldir didn't have this asset. Anyone know of a skybox that works well with the Ice tileset?
Weekly Terraining Exercise #122
Hey folks!

Wonder what'll roll out of this... !

10 doodads, 1 unit, 1 camera with field of view, 2 texture and some lightning modification equals this... Took less than 10min.

That's a lot of awesome using barely anything. Nice work.

@GhostNova91: Go Sneak preview? YOU FOOL! Now I know what your entire campagin is about.
Ok immaturity out of the way thats really cool. Might be stealing that idea at some point. The green ghost spectre looks like a total bad ass too.
I do really like it though simple but yet voluminous.

The lighting if a touch dark in my opinion. But seriously that is awesome.
Here's my submission ;)
Hey Mozared, what about adding a rule: do not use Mengsk Palace. I don't know for you, but I'm getting tired of seeing it in all summissions Haha!

(Joking of course)

A tinted Bel'Shir skybox can work with almost anything.

Could also try a few of these textures for replacements.
Edit: First time mapster has ever tried to limit my file size and I've been way over 10mb before.
