We're back this week for the 233d weekly terraining exercise, putting us at 1/3 towards the 300 mark already since we celebrated #200. Time flies! And speaking about flying...
This week's theme will be "Pilot's Eyes", which means I'd like you to create a scene that shows the viewer looking through the eyes of a pilot of a battlecraft. Imagine what the captain of a Science Vessel sees when he looks out his window, or a Protoss Scout pilot. That's what I'd like to see you guys get creative with. It's a tough one, but let's see if we can pull it off.
This was a very tricky scene for me to make, but i didn't do a view from the cockpit. This is the char invasion through the eyes of a viking pilot. (3rd person like in star craft Ghost.
Looks great! Not completely what I intended, but close enough! The main thing it needs is some action: this would benefit pretty well from some triggers playing walking animations on the zerglings and firing animations on the Vikings. I especially like the last two shots because they really put you in the perspective of a marine/viking. All you need to make it first person is a bunch of well positioned doodads around the camera, so go make it so! :D
Hey, no worries, it's your projects! You shouldn't delete your maps in general, though. If you ever make some sort of a portfolio, you'll be glad you kept some of your work.
So it turns out that 3.0 apparently broke the depth of field effect on Macs, which sucks. This WTE would work wayyy better if I had them, but what're you gonna do?
That's the kind of stuff I'd been thinking of. Quite a shame about the depth of field, I can see how that would've added. Would this be the bridge of a mothership overlooking even the Scouts, or a Scout going in for a run?

Yes.

Looks cool! I especially like the backdrop with the mountains. Why are the marines on the wrong side of the sandbag wall tho lol
