Something we have noticed is that there is a lack of Bound/Obstacle maps on Battle.net these days... (So yes, Battle.net is out of bounds! *drumroll*) For those of you who were around during the days of SC1, Bounds ruled the Customs list. If you can remember, we have also had a Minigame Contest before. However it was generic and this time we want to focus on specifically making Bounds and Obstacles.
What to do?
You are making a portion of an obstacle course/bound. Feel free to make an entire map out of it, but each submission should only be one obstacle. You allowed to create any kind of obstacle you want... A maze, explosions, dodge units, anything you can think of in terms of being challenged in the form of an obstacle is fair game. Remember, the more creative, the better!
What you have to give
You have to provide a youtube video of one obstacle. If you can't record, post the map and ask, someone will help you recording it :)
If you want to have multiple obstacles, just submit multiple videos. It'll make things easier for judging if we keep it to one obstacle per submission.
If you want to have a music background, you can import and play it in the map, but it is recommended to add it in the video.
You have to attach the map used to take the video
Deadlines
You have 10 days to complete this contest.
End of the submissions: Wednesday, November 17th - Midnight PDT (Los Angeles) [Thursday, November 18th - 9 AM GMT (Paris)]
A public vote will be held after the end of the submissions to decide who wins.
Reward
The main goal of the contest is to further community development within GalaxyEdit. The rewards can be see as follows:
If only I could record videos...then I could show everyone how my factory obstacle works...I was going to make a small factory with those good old obstacles that smash the thing they're building into the right shape. Gooood times. Anyway, I might do that later and post the map and see if anyone would like to record it. Catch ya later! :D
I can record and upload to youtube any maps that you wish to submit. I'm sure I'm not the only one offering this kind service, either.
I used to love bound maps back on the old sc1, but the popularity system sort of makes it impossible for there to be lots of bound maps high on the list (qq popularity system etc), can't wait to see what people can do with the new sc2 editor!
Question:
So our map has to be one obstacle out of a big obstacle course, not one obstacle that gets harder over time that people have to repeatedly pass?
My first idea is out. It really was only just put together to find out how to do it, so it's kinda sloppy and not detailed with terraining and doodads, but the trap is pretty cool. Hope I can get a recording soon! :D
Edit: I realized that I forgot to enable the flag "uncommandable" and fixed it. I have the REAL version here, I hope. :D
I don't really understand the "one obstacle per map" limit. Wouldn't a good bound have multiple obstacles?
I didn't say one obstacle per map, I said one obstacle per submission. Feel free to make an entire map, just submit each obstacle one at a time... Otherwise people will watch 10 of your obstacles in one video and only 1 obstacle for everyone else. The point is to make it easy for people to judge.
Also after the contest, someone can put all the winning obstacles (10 best or something) into 1 map :D
The hard part of doing that would be to copy and paste the terrain, regions, points, triggers, data editor, and anything else someone might have used to make their bound. While it is a great idea, that would be a massive undertaking by someone. I am not saying someone won't, it is just that most people will probably not dedicate the time into doing something like that.

Just completed my entry into the contest, I hope you guys like it!
You are a Dark Templar and must infiltrate your way through a highly secure space platform to reach the Warp Prism while avoiding the Ghosts! You'll stay invisible as long as you remain out of their searchlights, good luck!
The searchlights move back and forth randomly, making each round a new experience!
Attached picture, and map file.
I swear I died intentionally at the end of this to show that it actually works. :P
I'm going to create one more entry, but that'll be it for me. The point of my first one is that it might be THE most creative obstacle in the universe, therefore challenging you guys to do something better! :D Oh, and nice job on your submission Introversity! Looks excellent! :D

I'm interested in participating but I'll be honest I had to YouTube what a StarCraft Bound map was.
The whole part about having to create a You Tube video stumps me. Prevents me from participating in most these contests.
Wow, a nice contest. WHAT the hell happend to the bound maps, they have been so cool at Broodwar!
Count me in, Sir.
Edit: What exactly do i do with a Curse Premium Account? I don't understand!

I have an idea that'll blow your minds guys!!
Well, it's not that great... but I'll submit it later...
Incoming nydus worm attack and Run from the thor shooting crap at you.
Steal these ideas and you are gonna get hurt.
Just post up your map, someone else can video it for you, :p.
I just have to say Woooohooooooooooooooo! Thank You for this Contest! Dark Bound was the best one ever!
I don't really understand the "one obstacle per map" limit. Wouldn't a good bound have multiple obstacles?
@Nahotnoj: Go
Yes, but you simply aren't creating a bound but an obstacle.
