If any of you play Call of Duty: Black Ops, there's a bonus level which is a throwback to 80s-90s style top down arcade shooters, and all you basically do is point and shoot at zombies. It gets fairly hectic in the later levels and I honestly find myself playing this game with a few friends rather than the regular online.
It would really lend itself to SC2, I think... once the mouse tracking is smooth. Here's a .
I thought about taking on this project, but in all honesty it would probably never get finished. Anyone have any interest in doing this?
Hey guys, I'm sure some of you saw this, but I came across these videos for "Best of 2010..." on Gamespot. Under "Best Implementation of User Generated Content" Gamespot voted SC2 as #1 of 2010, and in its short video explaining as much, they featured a few maps which were created by members from SC2Mapster!
Just wanted to comment I had this same problem with the Dark Zealot when switching models from a Zealot to Dark Zealot, so you can rule out the Tetrahedron being the problem. It's possibly a glitch. Try testing with other units, ie: Zealot, Marine, Firebat, Dark Templar, etc and see if the same thing happens. If it does, then it's probably something intentional and you need to reapply the walk animations to the models. If it doesn't, it's most likely an oversight.
lol Sorry egod, but I refuse to believe its a "fail editor" just because of this.
Why are you so resistant to cropping your triggers? Evidently there are some great programmers willing to help... why not let them?... and then maybe you can release your map?... instead of bailing on all your hard work? Unless you actually just don't care anymore lol
lol We can have a discussion about the commercialization of Christmas, but I am to understand that your family celebrates Christmas and you're not asking for anything? If they're anything like my family, they will demand that you ask for something, because that's customary at Christmas time. lol
Kudos to you if your family celebrates the holiday and you're insist on receiving nothing. I suppose this goes to Karawasa as well... but I suspect he's probably a hypocrite. :)
Map-making is fun, but I have too much else going on to be able to justify spending any amount of time playing with triggers and data editing anymore. This is why I haven't been on here so much. Plus the front page news has been slowing down... I still check the site from time to time to see what's good... see if any progress has been made on certain maps, see if there's anything new and mind-blowing.
First, isn't it somewhat paradoxical to join a game - thereby bumping it's popularity up a notch - in order to troll it?
Second, this is for you, and everyone else who has visions of starting some sort of battle.net revolution: wouldn't your time be better spent trying to develop a broad-base of support for your next map in order to exploit the popularity system in the same manner that other people do? I mean, instead of wasting your time trolling other people's games, get this support base to bump your map. You could simultaneously be sending Blizzard a user-driven compendium of improvement ideas for future updates.
I'm sorry, but you're not exactly operating inside real life here... this is video game land. Blizzard is not a government, they're a corporation. They have no obligation to bend to the will of their fan base, unless they start to see a difference in their bottom line. Frankly, you're lucky they're listening at all.
I don't play Multiplayer that much anymore, I generally just mess around with the editor when I'm bored... but I love seeing new maps, any way we can see a video?
I think a good thing to keep in mind while terraining is, "is this something I can imagine seeing in real life?" Even natural settings have an order to them, ie: random clumps of trees, no perfect lines without human intervention... asymmetry, etc etc. And the ground textures generally should reflect this, ie: clumps of trees wouldn't normally grow out of the sand, etc etc...
Looks great! And I love that you've given the players something to do during the 'day'. And it's nice to see someone has finally done a map that focuses mostly on the Zerg... don't see a whole lot of them. I chalk it up to them not having voices. lol
I don't have a definition of what dependencies are, I'm sure someone else can tell you more accurately, but to kind of answer your question: your map should not noticeably run any slower than before, with this method.
Dogs wander on their own, as critters do, but are confined to a "leash"... an area which they can't leave.
When you enter within range of a dog, it will stop and bark until its owner comes running. If you're still in the area, you'll be caught (and presumably killed.)
In the future, I may add a quantity of "distractions" as an ability to nullify the dog's unpredictability. (ie: 5 charges of "Throw a Steak" ability)

Just bumping this cause it should be front page... this is sweet.

SC2 was a fad for me...

I've lost interest though.

If you celebrate Christmas, what is the number one thing on your list you're asking for?
Truth be told, I just wanted some new Burberry cologne this year (and things for the house)... I think I must be getting old... lol
I'm a lot more excited about my girlfriend's gift. I bought her a new Kindle 3G/Wi-Fi eReader.

Hey man this is amazing, please keep developing this!
Really a shame Blizzard doesn't design something like it.
