I've been thinking - Starcraft 2 would be a great place to create a mod for building maps in Command & Conquer style. In fact, I think it would be worthwhile to see if a mod can be created to actually remake the entire Command & Conquer Tiberian Dawn campaign in HD. I've only found very small snippets of users attempting to accomplish this, but nothing actually complete.
Does anyone have any leads on who may be working on this? Is anyone interested in this?
Please keep in mind this is just a suggestion/request, I have actually no idea how to build Command & Conquer with its UI in Starcraft 2 :)

i've been a fan of the CNC series. I've mustve played the 1st game campaign many times both GDI and NOD. I can do a rough terrain of most of the levels by memory. I posted a thread on the CNClabs forums to see if anyone wants to start a conversation mod or a mod that has the CNC Generals style but i didn't get any interested responses. I'm always interested in this but I don't think anyone else is interested.

I once did some kind of a mashup map called "Conflict and Combat", its still up on EU servers. You can find the models from Nanakey&Delphinium and SgtNoobkilla on this forum. If you need inspiration check out my map.
What's the cybrosX campaigns? First and foremost, you need a mod. At the very least, to get the units from the original. No UI changes yet, but eventually, when someone figures out how to make them. Here's what I was thinking in phases:
Phase 1 - Mod contains GDI and Nod units and buildings. This would use existing Starcraft2 units that are duplicated to serve the purposes we need. Which means, yes, the Marine, the Siege Tank, and the Wraith are going to be copied a lot and model/stats/abilities changed, lol. Buildings would also need to be respectively changed. Existing Starcraft 2 assets can be used as needed, but there honestly won't be many. You would need to build them custom. I know a few exist already out there like:
Phase 2 - Build campaign out, modeling after original, improving as needed. Improvements I would say should be minimal, but generally it should be a 1 to 1 remake in HD.
Phase 3 - Create the custom Command & Conquer side UI. I would say this would be extremely difficult but not impossible. I've seen you can do just about any customization with the editor.
Phase 4 - Polish up stage/BETA/TESTING. Including adding original cinematics.

Just want to forewarn you: C&C is not Blizzard IP so there is a high chance they will remove your map from Battle.net if it contains copyright materials. Ofc you can finish the campaign, that part they can't harm.

You know any examples? I created remakes of HoMM, Z, Civilization and Rise of Legends. None were removed.
I can't take credit for them, just examples. I was hoping someone has started some work, but its pretty scattered. There was a few discontinued C&C mods out there. Presumably because people realized it took too long.
Oh well, just thought I'd ask. I'll still poke around see what I can come up with as a proof of concept. I'd probably have better luck with pinging the armies of azeroth people and getting Warcraft 1 and 2 remade. I'll start a new thread with whoever is interested in helping do that once that mod is released.

My team already working on Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 remake. Multiplayer is already playable on EU and NA server(need 1-2 patch to fix a few stuff and most of the models are placeholder yet). Also around 70% with Warcraft 1 campaign.
That's awesome! Nice job. Have you been in contact with the Warcraft3 remake and mod the are working at with Armies of Azeroth? It should use the same base models as Blizzard provided but they've enhanced them to an incredible detailed level, which is why its taking so long. They have been looking for beta testers in their model use

I know them, back when they started we traded some models, but not since they became large. And the "free sharing assets" they tell is quietly a lie. They are looking for people doing them popular arcade maps of Warcraft 3 in reality. Hopefully we will also get some assets ready next year, but yeah 1-2 additional 3D and/or 2D artist wouldn't hurt.

Well the first thing is to decide to use the models we have in game or create own. I recommend to start with existing Terran models.
Power: Each power plant (Supply depot) provides power, each structure consumes power. Units do not consume supply.
Check campaign called "Marauders" to see how C&C style resource gathering system was made.
The UI sounds most complicated. At least you can hide some parts of UI with triggers. I believe it works quite fine even without C & C style UI.
Do not start the project with too big goal. Make the parts of C & C that you can make easily.
