Hi. This is a feedback thread I am making for the new version of my Ignos campaign. I recently uploaded a new beta version and I would really like some feedback and impressions, and of course, bug testing, if anyone would be willing to give it a try.
Especially on missions 1 and 2. I have not gotten anyone's feedback on them yet and it would be very nice to see if they are working how I am intending it. And if they are fun.
So I played the first map in the Ignos campaign.Hell of a strong first map! Good work.
What I liked:
- The terrain is very well done.
- The abilities sync togethervery well.
- I really like the "upgrade" system for the hero.
- Good cinematics.
- The blink system
-Ilike how you used the music in the different sections.
What Iencountered:
- When fighting the ursadonsI could "pinch" the big one in the small entrance and killit from a safe distance. Do not know if it is intensional or even if it impacts gameplay.
- When fighting the mutas right after you get the blink ability it looks like they appear from thin air. Nothing major.
- I think normal difficulty is well balanced.Idied a couple of times in the section with the rising water. A lot of Ultralisk and brood lords. But when Iknew what to expectImanaged.
- In the section with the "powerup" orbsI just the poweruptogether with my "energiezed" ability and sprinted through the whole thing, killed the bruta and finished=).
So Ireally enjoyed it.Will play mission two this weekend.
Thank you for the feedback. Nice to hear people enjoy the campaign:)
About your encounters:
- I shall look into the Ursadons. It's a tiny part of the mission but I have also experienced that they stop chasing and just stand there. I should do something about that.
- I thought maybe it would look cooler if the mutas sort of faded in instead of just popping out of nowhere. But perhaps they should spawn a bit further away to get the player some time to anticipate them.
- Good to hear. that the difficulty seems ok. It does get more intense further into the mission. it's always hard as a mapmaker to anticipate what is too hard and too easy for people who haven't played the map 20+ times as I have during my test runs.
- Was the orb part a bit cheesy or was it fun? I do think it's easy myself but thought perhaps that it could be a bit rewarding just pushing through with an overwhelming hero. Plus I might do things with power crystals later on and as a first mission, I reckon it would be a nice place to introduce them.
Yeah, nothing I encountered was nothing major and it´s just subjective and no game-breaking stuff=).
I like the fade-in of the mutas, I think spawning them further away can do the trick as you point out.
Heh, I totally agree on the difficulty part. It is very hard to anticipate this. I do not consider myself good at Starcraft, so for me, it was a good balance in difficulty. I myself do not incorporate difficulty selection because of these reasons, for me, it is very time-consuming. I know however, it was requested in the replicant campaign...
Hmm, the orb thing... I don´t know, I didn't have time to really check what was going on. I just sprinted. Perhaps I feel it took away a little bit of the immersion. But on the other hand, the hero felt powerful. So I guess that too is subjective =)
The story is getting more interesting and nice terrain as before.
I did not encounter any bugs and I also liked the solerite mechanics.
And again I think normal difficulty suited me very well. The only thing I reacted to was the surprise nydus worms that obliterated my whole fleet haha, I did not expect that.
Do they always spawn or do they only spawn if you have a large fleet to compensate for the fleet power you´ll get?
I was able to rebuild my fleet and army and thus finish the map.
The enemy did never attack from the east? Perhaps they do that on hard difficult?
Yeah, the Scourge might be a bit intense. Only two Hives spawned Scourge Nydus worms. I'm making an update where all Hives spawn nydus worms, but most of these only send Mutas and are easier to counter.
Also, I liked the idea of attacks from the east. I added some Cultists attack from that direction on my last update:)
The difficulty is very hard to pinpoint. I've had feedback before where the first mission was too hard compared to the later ones. I only make two difficulties because of it, one easy and one challenging. I have a lot of respect who manage to create 4 or more difficulty levels. But at the same time, I usually don't play games for the challenge myself, but for the novelty/gameplay. So it's not that important for me.

Sounds like good changes. I agree, I can´t imagine all the time for testing when having more than 1 difficulty setting =)
Ah nice, don´t know how well Replicant campaign functions after all the updates from blizzard...
I´ve gotten some feedback that the Zerg campaign is a little broken...
