EDIT: I edited the title from new website to supplement website and added more ideas to a supplement website.
Any support for a new supplement SC2mapster webpage?
- Use a more secure webpage
- Keep current site active but the additional activities can have redirect links to the supplement site.
- More social mapmaking news than just Sixen talking about Diablo (nothing against diablo Ahli you are the best!)
- insert IRC browser page within the site for chatting. (for casuals)
- Have the Gamepedia wiki on the top header
- Create a better team system. page that is tailored to have a Insert Logo, description, insert current map project.
- Have a module in the front page for daily SC2mapster streaming on twitch for playing maps and learning episodes
- Have a module of that has a "Map of the day" that will randomly select any map (new or old) and Sixen's description of it.
- have a "Job Board" webpage that allows people fill out a special tailored form for making maps and meeting mappers.
Bad idea overall. The last thing we need is to lose part of our community and daily visitors because we've moved. It's all meant nice and all, but ultimately it's better if we stick with this current forum.
Forum relocation, as TheAzureGuy said, can cause a loss of membership and potentially make the community split it two. You rarely see a community remain whole after doing such a thing.
I only new since this year. But I can tell you if switch from site or make a brand new one even that site is better ? Search options and all of different functions. You will lose a part of the community behind and it will be more like a split. To make it SC2 related. For example: The Game Starbattle from zedu. Zedu left so remakers went to try to remake and get some of the community what ended in a split between two versions... What is just bad in general.
a new website would be good.. not as a place to float on.. a place to MAKE things HAPPEN
the size of mapster is such that no one would move its content (not even curse lol AND rofl).. so re doing that is out.. on the other hand the size is also a massive deterrent to any growth
the number of typing active mapster people that is something entirely different
are there enough of us ready to do such PR community move?
..
i would help/participate/donate time/etc for a NEW website :
i even have a name for it already:
-the arcade
disclaimer: it does not need to empty mapster, it does not need anything more than
people who actively make/support/host ARCADE games
we deserve it!
(again, you would have both sites, not replacing mapster at all)
I hate this dilapidated site, but I guess at this point starting a new site from scratch would be too time-consuming for anyone to do in their free time.

I disagree. It sounds to me that Zedu wanted to keep his version and that there were other people that wanted to make a different version. No this is not a Brexit incident to leave the community but to somehow use another supplement site for other social mapmaking activities.

I feel like a big chunk of the community is already gone anyway so its not going to lose anyone. You make it sound like people only visit 1 map making website. What about www.staredit.net?

KSNumedia's Assets: Custom Models for campaigns and mods!
If anything we would need access to the current database and a redirect mechanism, which wont happen. :(

Lets hold a referendum on that, bring out the polls!
@DuckyTheDuck: Go
You just mention us the referendum in Britain several days ago. :)

Oh okay, I figured it would be hard to do.

^This, why not create like a supplement website? We already have a Wiki that redirects people. Does that make the community split into 2?
