Alright guys. I'm in a hurry, I've already thought out this WTE and I see no more reason for filler text. This week's WTE theme is going to be "Umoja". This means: make me anything in the Umoja tileset. I want to see some kick-ass installations out there. Oh, also, this would be the second part in us going through all of those HOTS tilesets. Something different next week.
I'm making a melee 1v1 laboratory map. The design is cool and I'm placing the textures at the moment. I'm not yet to doodads. I hope it will turns good ;)
Ok I've "finish". Actually I feel like there is a lack of doodads. There's still work to do... but I'm kind of bored. If anyone wants to have fun messing around adding stuff, that would be nice. Just think that I want it playable. Also, if someone is good at melee mapmaking and find something not quite good, feel free to say it so my next map will be better.

It's basically evolved out of castanar. They use a ton of the same assets with a new texture as well. From the greyish tint to a white one.
I figured it was similar when we first saw the tileset in one of the unveil video's. It's just that even there it looked like a 'similar but different' installation - when I look at the screenies posted so far it pretty much looks like Castanar with very bright lighting settings or something.
Image 1: The only way by land to get to the lab. Some marines crashed into an unexpected frozen spire, carrying important cargo. Their vehicle froze over, and they need to hold out until another transport can pick 'em up
Image 2: A recycling plant - they use the lava lakes they find underground to recycle old machinery (remember, this is a top secret lab on a fringe world - it could take a long time for supplies to arrive)
Images 3 & 4: Far off and closer up shots of the base entry. There are pipes near the top of the "cave". These pipes carry steam and electricity (not in the same tube, of course!)
Image 5: Somewhere inside the lab. The scientists are taking a marine from an experiment gone wrong to the infirmary.
Image 6: Some frozen zerg (testing what happens to them when they freeze). Yes, there is an opening that allows snow to flow in. Also some zerusian needlers - a new species discovered on a zerg planet with some strange lookin' zerg, and no creep!
My few comments: The exterior areas look a bit empty. The flat snow needs something (Snow-covered rocks, ice crystals, whatever) to break up the big open expanses. Maybe some of the collapsible ice terrain objects to create big icy pits.
Likewise, in screenshot 5, the big white area at the bottom of the screen is begging for some lab equipment.
So I'm putting something together for this contest after a long absence. I need to polish a bit more before I post some screenies but I personally think this will be a triumph and might just take the cake. I have to say I'm GLad I thought of it.
Edit: Oh, a sneak peak appeared. That wasn't supposed to happen. Probably best to ignore it.
It was probably already eaten by a zerg. It happens when you leave your cake lying around.
Edit: Aaand, my own secret research lab, now available for public perusal. Viewers are subject to unannounced disappearance at the hands of goons in black dropships.
It has a pitfall, but it's not seen in the screenies.
As for lab equipment... I was planning on putting an infirmary or storage room there, but I forgot because making sc2 maps and doing mathematics homework at the same time tends to make your memory a little bit... eh. But yeah, I'll add stuff.

Get to it, surprise us! :)

I AM GOING TO IGNORE YOUR SILLY RULES AND MAKE A PROTOSS TERRAIN THIS TIME :D
Just kiddin' I got a pretty decent idea. It's no installation though, I made so many of those that I could just load up old maps, that's no fun :P
Hoorah! Will work on this one for sure!
All done! Man, that was almost too easy...
Just kidding. I'm posting some screenies from the campaign here for reference.

You did the same thing I always do when I try to create a melee map: your initial bases are tiny. There isn't enough room to build a full base.
And the floor needs more texture play. Installations (and melee maps in general) thrive off of having interesting and varied ground texture.
I'm amazed at how much that tileset looks like Castanar.

Welp, my idea didn't work out at all. Tried around for over 2 hours now and it just doesn't seem to fit well together.
Gonna see if I can come up with something else.
BEHOLD
MIXED TILESETS (and regional lighting)
I made a dominion lab

I have a sneaking suspicion that it won't actually be taking the cake.

Are you suggesting the cake is some kind of falsehood?

When I look to this, it reminds me the Project Blackstone going on... maybe something about it would be nice?
Working on projects:
Hey Telthalion , would you like to add the map to the post ?
Since i'm making a little campaign , but i haven't enough time to make the "lab" map , i'd really like to use it !!
Btw , fantastic work , as always . ;)
