This week we be havin' a mighty fine WTE for ye on the subject 'o "Pirates"! While it may look like a bit of a random idea to ye, this week's theme means ye lads get t'terrain anythin' that has to do with pirates. Whether ye be buildin' me a treasure cove, a buccaneer's space ship or depictin' a fine raid of some rich folks' coffers, anythin' goes.
Good luck and have fun ye folks, and show me how ye lot sail the seven seas of terraining!
Here we go with something more special than expected. Pirates are always on sea... but what if they get cought in a "flash freeze" and just... lose their chest full of gold items?
No need of bones, or ship or space ship pirate or whatever pirate thing... A simple chest stuck in ice. How long has it been there? This chest leads to a long story. WTEs are made to make you do or inspire alot with the less work possible ;) Of course doing a huge WTE might inspire alot more, but the more effectively you do it, the best it is ;)
"That" as a playable map? It's not even the quater of a map... and the chest is only correctly visible from one side as the other sides might look weird since I used a doodads with textures on one side but not the other and some sign with pub on it visible from the other side. You can see the pub on the 3th picture. Someone should really work hard on making a Ice planet melee map as there are none really great I believe. Like, making all cliffs in ice, adding frozen lakes, etc.
There are many other WTEs that if they were a complete map it would be soooo ridiculously awesome... but it's not. Maybe one of the WTE should be about making a complete map, or lots of details, or a Melee map made by the community like other projects made before. I'm sure that with a mix of ideas of everyone, a melee map could become pretty pretty nice!
Um not quite sure what is going on there, but I like the tree in the background. You should try to use the "rule of thirds" maybe it would look less um..awkward? There is just random stuff all around, ice, tree, fire, lights... where is the logic in all that?
The random things represent confusion. The yellow ships are pirates. The blue ship is a battlecruiser that the pirates are taking down to salvage technologies inside. Maybe later I'll make the wreck (on a large scale, so that marines are small in comparison; as they should be but because it's a game, blizz weren't able to do it).
I also wanna make a pirate holding cell, (as in pirates are the captors, not the captured) maybe on a (space) pirate ship or on port zion.
Really interesting. I think it needs a very small fog of war for the far far water to not be as clean and maybe a bit of depth of field on the camera. I'm not sure why there is a battlecruiser on super low space though... but the ship is epic. I think you could also add some water plants or coral. Look at Xil Fossil, maybe it would be nice. I like the angle you put in the camera it makes the whole image less linear like most of the WTE.
I suggest you to use the fire and the small vocano with the hot wave effect placed with pitch roll in the reactors of your ship so it has fire and the super hot effect :P What about more lights as well, its like a pretty dark ship without light.
