28/04/2013 - State of the mod
Apparently HotS/the latest major Starcraft 2 update has once again caused some small problems throughout the campaigns. However, aside from episode 3, it seems there are no major issues present at the moment, 99% of everything should work. Everything should be compatible with both HotS and WoL - but probably more compatible with WoL. If you're experiencing problems, try switching to Wings of Liberty mode in the Starcraft 2 gameplay options menu. If you're getting "unable to open map" errors when using the campaign launcher and your Starcraft 2 is up to date, chances are you don't have the necessary files in the right locations - read the instructions carefully.
Know that we're still not happy with the state of the remake. We're already knee-deep in working towards a larger update to all six episodes, so there's no turning back to doing small bug fixing updates. We're making good progress so far, and looking to have everything done by the end of the year (hopefully major mod-breaking updates to the game have settled down a little bit by then). There likely won't be any updates this summer.
The upcoming version(s) will require Heart of the Swarm.
The second installment of the classic Starcraft campaigns. Uses the same mod file as the previous episode, and again, credit for the mod goes to MavercK. Also thanks to Ultraling for his initial work on the Terran episode, and GnaReffotsirk and others for the amazing unit models.
Features
- all 10 original missions
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Zerg soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Lurkers! Because who doesn't love Lurkers?
- Mission 5 "The Amerigo" - yep, like it or absolutely hate it, the third person "shooter" action is back
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Jones313 Apr 02, 2011 at 22:43 UTC - 0 likesTruart:
Okay, that is kinda strange. People seem to be having these random problems. :S Can't help you, sorry.
Wunterwaffen:
Okay, here goes:
1) I dunno, we'll see. Tassadar's ghost portrait is pretty badass, though.
2) Because she's too big in SC2. I changed her ranged attack to anti-air only, her ground attack is melee only, just like in SC1.
3) Hmm, maybe. The briefing music is good, though!
4) Well, it needs to be a close-up for sure.
5) A Cerebrate, what else?
Also, story-wise the Starcraft 2 campaign was... okay, but I'll probably stick to SC1 dialogue for the remake. =P
GnaReffotsirk:
Most fun you've ever played? Whoa. You're exaggerating, but wow. =P Also, thanks for the tactical input! Interesting to read how other people play the maps.
fish:
Well Gna already answered you, but yeah. I went heavy spine colony on the top bases as well, and pretty much kept Kerrigan stationed at the south. Reavers are indeed pretty nasty, you can use Kerrigan (or Mutalisks) to pick them off like Gna said, and avoid clumping up your units when you see one. Lurkers are pretty good by the way, if you can get them out in time. I also noticed the geyser issue, will be fixed in the next update.

Wunterwaffen Apr 02, 2011 at 14:15 UTC - 0 likesHey jones, I don't know if you saw my earlier post of my thoughts on the Zerg campaign, but anyway, you did a great job. I hope that in the Protoss "installation" mission you'll do the third person action game again. *pictures playing as tassadar chopping up a bunch of Zerg with psi-blades* The cinematic at the end was awesome. However, I might have put some sort of "cameo reference" at the end of it. After the Overmind says his lines, you see more Zerg attacking the cities, wiping out the Protoss, and as the city burns and Protoss are ripped to shreds, and as the screen slowly fades to black, you hear a Dark Voice:
"As I was your beginning, so shall I be your end!"

GnaReffotsirk Apr 02, 2011 at 11:48 UTC - 0 likesI got the extractor bug at the final mission.
Anyway, what I did was:
1. drone up the first minerals given. then build pool. 2. Move the ultras and kerri to the top-right valley. If not, zealots start attacking. 3. while pool is building, creep colonies until I reach the pass (bottom right). I placed creep colonies on the other top left as heavy. 2 colonies per volley of minerals. Until every pass is tightly packed with sunken colonies and spore colonies. 4. Nydus canal at bottom left valley. 5. Hydra den + movement upgrade. Then the goal is to get 24 hydras. 6. As they attack, then counter attack the middle left protoss base. By this time my mineral line had only about 1000 minerals total. 7. Expand and now defending using units.
I use kerrigan clocked to snipe reavers. I believe my victory was due to luck than tactics. Will try the mission again to see some other way to beat it.

fish83814 Apr 02, 2011 at 11:15 UTC - 0 likesYeah, the one don't let any DT escape. Any suggestion how to beat that??
and by the way, there seems to be a bug that I can't build an extracter on the geyser at the 12 o'clock expansion.

fish83814 Apr 02, 2011 at 09:56 UTC - 0 likesHad a lot of trouble playing Mission 8 : An Eye for Eye Can anyone provide and sort of tip?? I just try to build up a hydra/ling army to defend but the right bottom one always seems unable to defend. The small choke make reaver very strong and reinforcement just never got there quite in time. Should I change my unit composition or is there any thing anyone can suggest??

Wunterwaffen Mar 30, 2011 at 21:50 UTC - 0 likesThe Zerg campaign is awesome. The Amerigo: priceless. I forgot to say earlier, but I love how you did the dragoons! There are only a few minor issues:
1. You should use High Templar Karass's portrait for Tassadar instead of Tassadar's ghost portrait. Having his head glow and be all see-thru doesn't make sense.
2. Why is kerrigan so small, and what happened to her ranged attack?
3. I forgot to mention this earlier, but either the dialogue is a little too soft or the music is a little too loud in the briefing rooms. You might want to raise/lower one of them just a tad.
4. The cinematic with Kerrigan hatching could be a bit better, maybe with a higher camera view like the "flashback" in the 3rd Zeratul mission in WoL.
5. What the heck is the portrait for Zasz and Daggoth?
