Update2: The 1.5 Arcade Beta has begun!

Update: The 1.5 Beta has revealed that blizzard has added an active games list to the custom game system. You can discuss this exciting update here!

    Would You Rather by zeldarules28

The game is separated into rounds, 10 seconds each, where players can submit a "would-you-rather" question at any time during the game (although they may only submit so many at once, there is a cooldown). Players must then choose between the two options given and one player in each round is randomly selected to be the "guessing" player. This guessing player must choose what he thinks the other players chose. If the guessing player guessed right, he gets a point, he he does not answer the question, he loses a point. The first person to get 5 points total wins!

This project is an action packed PvP arena fight with unique mechanics. You control one of the four various beast masters and your goal is to reach certain amount of kills, simply by using your abilities, within one of the three different arenas. From the video, it almost seems like a PvP Pokemon game, which is certainly interesting!

Misery of living and dying magic by Zanryu1337

Shadowrun is a pen and paper game which depends heavily on player decisions. Misery of Living and Dying Magic (short: MoM) will transfer this feeling to Starcraft II with a strong character builder, a bunch of weapons and many magical things, this map enters a new realm of RPG mods. In the end it will become a text-heavy singleplayer RPG which allows you to create a feeling of a autonomy of decision.

    Tower Defense Tycoon by SkrowFunk

Tower Defense Tycoon is an FFA survival tower defense for 1 to 6 players. In the game, you operate and manage a tower defense theme park, where you need to construct towers, build up your park, attract spectators, and raise admission rates. Each night you must entertain your visitors with explosive tower defense shows and score bloody kills to impress the audience and attract new visitors.

Tower Defense Tycoon is a completely solo project, and it has been his only focus in the Starcraft map editor since the beta began, which means this game is 2 years in the making!

A 3v3 tug style map with 3 lanes; top, middle and bottom. Two bases are on either end and units are sent along each lane. You choose which lane to attack in co-ordination with your team. Combines the macro of a tug map with a small amount of micro from the defensive units. The game features 22 Zerg "tug" units and 10 Terran units.

As we see here, another relatively interesting idea. We have TwoDie turning SC2, an RTS, into a Turn Based game, similar to TotalWar. From what I understand, the game is still a concept/in-development. The video below shows off some single player mechanics, as well as how things function with multiple players.

Ever wanted to make an RTS within an RTS? Seems like Inception, amirite? Pretty mind blowing... KingRadical decided to bring his rendition of Halo Wars to StarCraft II. As you can see below, he shows off base creation of each of the three races that are available to his games. I highly checking out the project thread for more information.

    The Depot Life by IggNight

Remember the Starcraft: Supply Depot game Blizzard did for the April Fools 2012 joke? IggNight decided to recreate the game in the sense that he understood it. A game where you can make the difference as a supply depot. Marines keep you alive but you don't control them. You just keep them safe with depots. Marines and SCVs come in from all four sides. You have to lower the Supply Depot to let the marines in then quickly close it to stop the Zerg from getting in.

You can upgrade the supply depots up to level 4 and build more depots. The Marines will also upgrade when you get enough of them to safety. Zerglings, Banelings, and Roaches will attack your base and these also have another stronger version to attack you in the later rounds. There are 17 rounds to survive.

There was a really cool talk about eSports/SC2 at the TED Conference. I also forgot to mention this a few days ago, there are some changes coming to the matchmaking system on Battle.net.

SALT (Save And Load Tool) by Turtles

Salt is a training tool which enables saving and loading the game in multiplayer matches with practice partners! It is designed to help people test out the timing and execution of all aspects of their play. To use the tool a player simply types "save" or "load" into chat and they can jump to whatever point in the game they want. For a simple look at how this works and how it can be used you can watch the episode of HuskyStarcraft where he did a review/tutorial on it as part of a new series.
