Love the idea, wolf. I had been thinking about doing something like this for a while, but you beat me to it.:D You've got my support. Speaking of which, this should get put in the news within a few days. One suggestion though, wolf. Keep a list of who's mentoring who, because otherwise one person could get bogged down with 25+ mapsters asking for help. Maybe have people send you a PM or post here when they get a mentor and you can add them to the list. Maybe people could say how many mentors they're willing to take? Just an idea. Anyways, here's my bio
Zeldarules28, AKA most amazing mapper to have ever lived
Help type: Triggers and Data
Specialty: Basically anything trigger related is good, but for Data I'm better at standard units, abilities, behaviors, and effects.
Maps: I haven't released any maps to battle net or sc2mapster, but I have built engines for third person shooters, top down shooters, diablo style games etc... I work on lots of different types of stuff. I did work on zergling burgers for a bit before I quit the project
Contact: PMs at sc2mapster
Time Zone: (GMT-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada). I log in for an hour or so weekdays and a good portion of the weekends, so you should get a response within 24 hrs.
Speciality: Making maps.... so Terrain, Data and Triggers.
Maps: I'm a mapmaking machine! I'm over the bnet map limit. Some projects include: RandSquad Arean, Shotgun Defense, 1v1 PARTY! Tug of Power (Not yet released)
Examples: I would say that I specialize in linking the trigger and data editor together to get the best effect. I specialize in finding the simplest and easiest ways of doing things, and reducing lag as much as possible. I will look through and see if there is an easier way to do a trigger or data feature in your map. Complex behaviors, such as a "unit enters range of any unit" and my "custom wander" are also things that I am pretty good at.
Specialty: Data with Triggers
Maps: All my currently released maps were made when I was learning the editor, (A couple months ago) but I am working on a virtual market game.
Contact: Preferred: PM, but you can request a different contact format.
Name: Küken
Help: Data, Galaxy Script, kinda everything except terrain and modelling ;)
Speciality: Data, I guess
Contact: PM or IRC for first contact
Time Zone: GMT +1
What do the mentors get out of this? It's great and all but I've been answering questions and helping people since the beta (on top of my tutorials) and it's pretty tiring lol. Well, props to you guys if you have the motivation!
Just be careful not to start making peoples maps... it happens :O
Lol no offense but I would not be bragging that you have made 10 maps. That means that they are low quality, simply because of how long Starcraft 2 has been out and the amount of time it takes to make a quality map.
I'm not saying they are bad, I'm just saying that saying you have made 10 maps doesn't mean anything.

You are right. Lets hope the list of mentors will be long :D

I get PM's all the time too, but it might be cool to have one specific person. But yeah, I'm not going to be mentoring like 20 people. Maybe 2 or 3. I already have my personal projects I'm working on, plus my moderator jobs. And in addition to that there's that stupid "real life" stuff. Although my moderator job is made easy because most of you guys are angels when it comes to posting :D

Specialty: Pritty much all of the editor functions other than layout files (So far), texturing in GIMP and Photoshop, Basic 3ds Max
Maps: A multyplayer FPS, A single player FPS, A top down survival map, A FPS library
Contact: MSN
Time Zone: New Zealand (+12 Hours GMT)
Maps: I haven't released any maps on BNet or SC2Mapster, but I do alot of self projects, trying to discover new things and come up with some insane ideas. Here's a link to my Youtube with some of my videos. LINK
Also have many maps with semi-complex to complex Ability setups that are not displayed.
Sixen: I seriously think this should be incorporated into the homepage somehow. Replace sc2ranks perhaps?? It's always been broken for me anyway. I'm worried that this mentoring program will quickly fall from the recent news and not be noticed by new mapmakers. This could potentially increase the size of the mapmaking community significantly in the long term!

You should really add a link to the mentor's profile page, so that the person doesn't have to scroll down the list in this topic.

Great idea! I've edited the OP so that all the names are links :)
