I would like to second this request. Particularly Ice Troll Tribes.
For those of you unfamiliar with this wc3 custom map, Ice Troll Tribes was essentially a survival game. Two tribes of trolls spawned on a map, split by a major river, and they have to survive and kill the enemy tribe. The game usually plays out in three main phases. A opening phase where team mates locate each other and decide on a base camp area. A gathering phase where players survive and hunt for items. And a battle phase where the two tribes have gathered enough material to begin to wage war. Games usually last around 40mins.
Features of the Map:
A day/night system, which also messes with vision
A Hunger(HP) and Sleep (MP) system. Hunger would deplete slowly, as with temperature. Required players to "eat" cooked meat through hunting local wildlife to stay alive. MP spent needed to be replenished at the tent "sleeping". Many abilities were cooldown based and not MP based, but some were, like sprinting.
A Temperature system, dropping below certain temperature will result in death.
A item/creation system. A simple example would be, picking up sticks/stones/flint creates a fire. Or, more complexly, putting 3 sticks and 3 stones together makes a crafter's hut, putting 3 mana crystals and 2 sticks and 1 stone creates a witch doctor's hut, putting 4 grass and 2 mana crystals in that creates a entanglement spell/ability that can be used in battle. Armor and weapons are crafted in similar fashion.
A pet system. Lowering the health of an animal and then capturing it could turn it into a loyal pet. Pets have their own unique abilities and grow older as game days pass by. Evolved pets are stronger and valuable allies in battle.
A massive neutral mammoth boss in the middle of the map who would drop valuable rewards when killed.
Ice Troll tribes did not have a class distinction. Jobs were usually assigned by the team organically, and strong team work usually meant a win.
I had a lot of fun playing this map on wc3, sadly it was not updated that frequently.
If anyone from sc2 mapster community is interested in re-creating such a map, i would be one thrilled loyal fanboy.
I believe someone was creating, not a remake, but a map very similar inspired by a different game. People were telling him to look at Troll Tribes in order to see how certain features had been accomplished there.
I was previously making a Troll Survival Map, but it's been put on hold so i can work on a map that interests me more =/
Once my current project picks up and is at a nice replayablity point, i'll pick back up on my troll tribe map. It uses custom WoW models and complete armor sets, and supports a very realistic ecosystem where over hunting can decimate a population before they have time to repopulate the area.
I think what put a hold on it for me was the item recipe system, it's a pain in the @$$. anyways if someone could help find an easy way to do that, i'll get back to the project when i have time.

Um, no, I don't think he was. Making anything that doesn't follow a pattern is a pain in the @$$. Recalling the data isn't hard, it's just defining it is the time consuming part.
hey so sorry to revive an old post. but im getting back into my Survival Troll map, and would love it if anyone has anything i could use to make this item recipe system. Im not familiar with functions.
My item system will work by having it so each thing u can craft will have it's own ability button, and clicking it will search your hero inventory for the neeed items, remove the correct amount of each one, and give the new item. the part i cant figure out is checking if the hero has the items needed, and removing those items. any help would be great =) and im sure the realistic ecosystem ive put it will add another level of strategy and excitement to this brilliant old game.
Not sure if this has been requested, but a remake of one of the many Troll Tribes maps from Warcraft 3 would be cool.

I've forgotten the name though.

Great to be back and part of the community again!

A ten line script in the trigger editor can achieve the recipe system.
I presume that is what he is taking about rather than defining items himself.

That is what I created in Wc3 ... using dummy abilities to place a structure, run a check of your inventory for the requirements, and allow it if so.
You said the answer yourself, just do a search of the inventory for the required items. Loops are your friend.

I think it was HawkerHurricane, no?
