Alright I'm done for today. All the video and pics I feels worth taking. Also, if you find any fansite videos, feel free to share it here and i'll add it to the main post.
The only thing I actually care is 'Is HotS a public mod or not'.
Could we create custom maps based on HotS? I think this is the most important question for the map making scene.
There are question during QA and Interview talk about this. They said that users can create their own Battleground (maps) that can be played. Even though there are certains things users cannot make right now (The pirate ships for example). User created contents is a big part of making this game happen and they want to help support it in this game. There are no mentions of links between HotS and SC2. Everything they tried to show it being a standalone game even though what they showed heavily hinted the game running on the SC2 engine.
Here's my guess based on the whole situation. There will be a modified editor made specifically for HotS that will be otherwise identical to sc2's editor. The main functionality will be limited to terraining and inserting certain standardized waypoint/spawn point and units etc... Triggering will be limitied. The game client will be standalone but is the sc2 engine.
We're all hoping that everything links together to make storm a mod of sc2. That's the best case scenario but I highly doubt it. Everything is just a plan right now and the game is still in a very early stages.
It could still happen if they plan some major change to the arcade that support standalone mod in the future. One can hope :)
They said at one point that the engine was "based on" sc2's engine. I think it's fair to say that it isn't part of sc2 anymore. Hopefully though, the models are made available to sc2 through other means than extracting and importing them manually.

They call it the "galaxy platform" which both games are using, according to this .
But that doesn't tell us, if sc2 can access heroes' data... that would be cool, though.
Also, it would mean that arcade users need to download even more archives, but many people might have just both games installed already. They just need to find a way to make SC2 find and use the heroes mods. I really hope that will be possible.
In the end, we can always ask them publishing a mod with the assets. They should work fine in SC2, since it's the same engine. There won't be work required to make models compatible for SC2 like the wc3 orc hero model update process.
Else, the coolest models will be transfered into SC2 anyway. I need that Diablo model... I need it... badly... :D
When arcade becomes free, can people with sc2 starter edition play arcade maps with HOTS dependencies?
Well, they used the word "completely" in front of "free", so I assume that. Else, it just adds even more initiative to not use expansion's assets. Atm, I'm already not using them because I've only little benefit from them in my flagship map.
Firstly, thanks for all the info you have added there! Good for being at the event and gathering this information, also interviewing people. As being mostly a player, I have followed WCS Global Finals but besides the new WoW expansion they mentioned and the Heroes of the Storm trailer, I didn't see much of the non-esports part and now I see a lot of cool things been done there!
As a melee player, I never played much Dota back in war3 but when I did, unless doing too bad at it, I enjoyed it. That is to say, I never hated Dota-like games but I am primarily an RTS player. Still, I DO LIKE these kind of games and while I'd rather be into RTS than Lol/Dota 2, this Heroes of the Storm is a game that I would play as well!
Amazing graphics, I am big fan of characters from other worlds meeting in one place aka crossovers and I've always doen such, maybe that's why I really like it!
The portraits from carbot are ... meh otherwise great for CUSTOM DECALS (at least for Clans)~ OMG I use my own custom decal in my maps and alternative in Bnet, never thought I would see that! But it better be placed in a more appropriate way cause the TL logo there didn't look well placed, better to replace the MAIN building's ground logo.
I'm sure this game is done in sc2editor completely, so why would they make it standalone game? Otherwise this models will be extracted from mpq and will working just great in sc2, unlike wow models glitches with siteops. Another reason why they don't want to make it standalone from sc2: some editor geeks might be able to create a clone of this game in sc2, using this assets. And this map will compete with the original which is something that they don't rly want. but that was imho ofc.
Anyways i got rly excited with new art, rly want to start some fantasy rpg with those assets. Knight models looks damn good, as everything else D:

So people wont need to download 10 giga useless data. Also I think they have probably changed some stuffs in the engine (for example to improve latency...).

Galaxy platform may become something like bare bones with engine and editor, and everything else might be downloadable, like you install this sc2 engine and then downloading assets depending on what game you bought.

That would be quite nice.

I think I'm pretty excited to see tyrael as a hero, he's kind of a bad ass, and I'd love to use him in a map.
Also that cinematic trailer was insane. Nova's face was pretty damn realistic (Something about it seemed a bit different to me).
Overall I think I'm excited for everything they've announced.

Interesting, about 4 of my games were featured in the trailer.
:)
@Bounty_98: Go
what trailer?
I just added it in 10 minutes ago (ok maybe 30)
Edit: Also added post panel interview.

Yeah, Nova definitely looked younger than she is in StarCraft II.
Thanks for this.
Got an album and quite a few videos from the Deep Dive panels.
I won't be making videos for the Live Match due to its duration. Feel free to post them here if you found them somewhere else.

Well she is meant to be 19. She seems late-20s in sc2 so it's probably more that she looks too old in sc2.

right, so sc2 koreans are fine with lag and dont need latency improvements. That makes sense.
