I agree. Last hitting has nothing to do with spectator enjoyment. The whole concept of last hitting is awful (as is Kills/Deaths/Assists) but being one of the primary sources of skill, it has to be replaced with something. At least blizzard realized that and implemented the globes, but only time will tell if that's a solid solution or not.
Also the inclusion of dedicated healers/support heroes as well as not all heroes being solely focused on hero killing means that hero fights will last longer, be much cleaner, and more enjoyable to watch.
Jungling still exists, just not in the same way as DotA or HoN or LoL. I actually like the lack of needing to last-hit as well. I was playing a ton as Arthas and just focused on killing other players rather than worrying about my income.
Any chance you guys that played it could write up a list of some of the heroes you played and what their abilities were? :)
All of the hero names are already in the news post, but I can include them again if you want. We might be doing something special for Blizzard DOTA in the near future so I was going to hold on to the abilities until then. This article is more informative than technical.
This picture (from the article) has all of the current heroes:
I love the fact that Blizzard is making this game an easy-to-play experience. Shorter games, more focus on co-op teamwork (no last hitting, no kill stealing) and putting more focus into lane pushing rather than jungling/carrying. I can totally see getting my non-dota playing friends into this more easily than the others out there.

yeah I was mainly interested in the abilities, I know a few of the hero's skillsets from writeups on other websites (Arthas, Uther, Thrall, Warfield, Stitches) and videos and a few skills from others but the rest remain a mystery

I mainly played as Arthas.
Q: Summon a Ghoul that fights by your side. After 3 seconds, you can use Q again to sacrifice it to heal Arthas.
W: Freeze a unit (or group of units) in place for a second or two. The range was like 6 or 7, I believe, and the area was 1.
E: Basically creates a swarm around Arthas like Irradiate that deals damage to nearby units for a few seconds (I think it was 5 or 6).
R: Pulls an enemy toward you, healing Arthas for 100 HP over a short period of time. The range for this was incredibly small, like 2 or 3.
Though I don't remember the exact hotkeys for other units, I remember Stitches had an ability that pulled an eenmy unit to him with a range of like 9 or 10. It was a lot like Blitzcrank's ability from LoL. I believe Nova had an ability that turned her into a ball of energy moving to a target point, and then slowing/stunning everything in a huge area around that point. Warfield had the ability to siege and do a ton of ranged AoE damage.
Awesome thanks!! I heard Arthas had Ghoul/Chains of Ice/Death Grip but didn't know his last ability... sounds like a fun hero
I know Warfield has all the abilities from the video: Siege mode, the cone-pushback, the aoe mines and some low-cd aoe damage spell that hurts allies and enemies
Thrall has Chain Heal, Chain Lightning?, something (warstomp?) and then Bloodlust
Kerrigan has a chain lightning
Uther has holy light and Hammer of justice, don't know the other 2
Stitches from what I hear is similar to last year, where he has Hook, Devour, and his AoE slow
I think he meant "skill" in a sarcastic way, and i as well do look forward to playing this :) . You can really tell they put allot of thought into this.

I'm curious about this supposed matchmaking system...

Who wants to be on my Pro Blizz Dota Team!?
I don't care if its dumbed down, all the better!
I think they did exactly what needs to be done. Everything I HATE about dota seems addressed in this. I'm really looking forward to playing the game.
also, "skill" should never be determined by how many item spreadsheets you can memorize.
thats not how skill is determined .......

Too bad it's on BNET ;(
YAY THIS IS WHY I LOVE BLIZZARD, they said DOTA isnt good enough to be in their marketplace, and they kept their word by making it free.
When they say something, they mean it, I love that blizzard is able to do that, alot of other companies will lie like hell to you lol.
True, at least Blizzard made it free, and allows players to use a whole lot of awesome models hehe(:
There are so many things wrong with this statement. . . I'm really beginning to think you get drunk before you visit Mapster every day.

I don't think it's drunk, look at his avatar.

I'll main an assassin if you let me on your team.
EDIT: Woops thought I put that in edit post.
