This thread is for the maps you Believe would be worth paying for, If they all of a sudden decided to put a price on maps.
If you do not believe in paying for maps, Please put your reason down.
If you believe only Single Player maps hold value please say so.
If you are an Author and you think you might charge people for some upcoming maps(way off future probably over a year from now). Feel Free to say something. NO ONE IS TO FLAME AUTHORS WHO WISH TO SELL MAPS!!!!
This is just an Experimental thread nothing more, no one is saying anything
DO NO FLAME AUTHORS WHO SAY THEY WOULD CHARGE PEOPLE FOR THEIR MAPS.
Singleplayer Arcade games remakes(pacman, mario, astroids, Galaxian) that sort of thing.
Any blizzard official, Granted its not crap.
Some other Great one player Game made by a well known Author.
Note: I doubt Blizzard would allow you tell sell re-makes of their Expansion. If anyone has the Idea to do so PLEASE contact blizzard and make sure its okay no need for anyone to get their accounts banned.
To me any game that im going to pay for should have a SinglePlayer Aspect, Because Multiplayer on Paid maps Will Most Likely Be alot of empty Lobbies.
Things I wouldn't Pay for:
Tower Defenses(there are way too many out there for me to pay for one)
Tug Of wars (way too many free out there already)
Dota(not going to happen LoL, Blizzard dota, HoN, and probably Dota 2 are already free)
Melee maps.
Non maps that I would but, but would rather not have to:
Galaxy editor Items:
Model Packs
Terrain Packs
Ability packs
A quick TD creator.
Hi.
1st - how did you come up with this topic? I don't think that there were people here constantly bragging that they would make premium maps to sell them. Your 1st topic seemed to imply that, but now you locked it and edited 1st post so I can't be sure.
2nd - I would pay for whatever seems fun and reeks of quality and polish. I think that's the maps that are going to be sellable. As a personal preference I wouldn't play a direct PvP game. As opposed to you I probably would not play a single-player remake of something, I'd rather experience something fresh and different.
3rd - Blizzards Arcade and battle-net2.0, like any concepts in development tend to constantly change. I doubt that what they showed on Blizzcon is final. The release date is still not set in stone, so thinking about how everything will function in release(and further patches) and guessing that it won't allow for multiplayer premium content to be played is a little shortsighted.
1. I edited the post because it was stupid of me the way I said everything.
2. I locked it because 90% of it was trolls(including me)
3.Your right on your 3rd thing, I only made this post to see a general opinion of When they do it, what kind of maps everyone would pay for. Im only going by what I see now, Everything past first page has alot of dead lobbies, Paid Multiplayer maps that keep this trend scare me.
4. Thanks for not trolling and actually staying on topic :D
I'm actually heavily looking at the market as a possible job, that's my dream since I was like... 6? :D
I mean I always wanted to work as a game developer but in my country it's just impossible. That would allow me to spend more time on mapping instead of PHP programming :|
Usually a lot of players talk about donations but with my personal experience I can say they don't work soo good.
I stil don't know how and what maps I should charge for, it's too early to say. We still don't know how the market will work, what kind of payments will be available, what will be the influence on the multiplayer lobbies, how much maps will be crackable and playable offline.
I would like some kind of timed free demo option where you can try premium maps for a limited time.
I agree on the fact that a premium map should have some single player content to make it playable if you can't find anyone in multy.
Oh and about what map I would pay for... actually the only great map I saw that would deserve my money is AC130K. No need to say it seems well done and polished.
I would like to see mods & assets selling option too. They could be used by map makers to create premium content and a small part of these revenues should go to the asset creator.

Vector
Warcraft 2 Campaign + expansion
Warcraft 3 Campaign + expansion
Starcraft 1 Campaign + expansion

I would pay for maps where a lot of time has been put into it by great authors. Meaning I would never pay for a standard Tower Defence or tug of war.
The ultimate maps for me to buy would be HeroArena maps, RPGs and DotA-type maps with a lot of content.
