I can't help but think that they'll only have max 14 players, maybe less. It'll be an MMO by name only unless they use something like what this topic is about, and even then are restricted by map size.
Does map switching work offline?
"Q. How many people can play this game?
A. We're still working on the player maximum per instance, we originally planned for ten, but this may be reduced to five to prevent server and FPS lag. Battle.net will allow unlimited matches to play at the same time. " o so it's not an actual MMO, my bad.
Hey, I can still make the first actual MMO for SC2 then can't I!
Also my question still stands, does map switching work offline? Like, campaign style finishonemapandstarttenext switching?

No, they did not say directly that they are going to allow mappers to charge to play their maps. However, doesn't the word "Marketplace" give you a hint that it will?
Thanks. Well, it's just a name. Like a Lava lamp, actually there is no lava in it... (I'm currently looking at one)
How would you name a place when you can showcase your map(s)? I realy think that Marketplace is the best name, because what else? Map gallery? Map showcase? Map museum? Either of those without map in front of it? Do you like one of these or do you have a better name? I don't. Because a marketplace is just that, a place where you showcase your wares. The fact that you "trade" at a marketplace (goods for money) is in this case of marginal importance. What annoyed me was simply the fact that you sad, that you have to buy any map, which is simply not true. If you had sad that you have the option to charge for your map, I wouldn't be writing this now.
Wouldent it be possible to just Some how send the information from the bacnks to a website? A website that is always running, and due to the fact that SC2 is constantly on the net, so whenever you need it, you just need to create some form of script that reads the bank off of a website?... It must be able to be done, just might be a bit tough to create :P

Galaxy has no form to access sockets or any protocol whatsoever that would let you do that.
That makes almost no sense. I understand what you are saying. Let's just put it this way. If Blizzard doesn't allow for us to charge for our maps, I am never buying a Blizzard product again, along with burning all the ones I already have.
It would be so stupid for Blizzard not to allow for maps to be sold after naming it "The Marketplace".
Oh and your lava lamp example. It does make sense, but it's kind of a stretch. When people think lava lamp, they do not think actual lava. When people think Marketplace, they think buying and selling stuff. There is a difference there, although subtle. The only difference is that if someone gets a lava lamp without real lava, they won't get pissed off, burn it, and then try and destroy the world. (Which is most likely going to be my reaction if Blizzard doesn't allow us to sell maps)
Ya so I see where you are going with that, but I just think the probability of what your saying being true is too slim to consider.
Now, for future posts, lets TRY and get back on topic so that I don't have to lock my own thread... :P
Okay so there seem to be some confusion going on about the battle net marketplace. The short answer is no, you can not charge anything for your maps. The way it actually works is that blizzard will have strict control over what kind of content is available on "the marketplace". They will decide what maps that would be suited for "premium content". They also said that maps like DOTA etc would definatley NOT make the cut to be available at the marketplace, because they do not have nearly any original content.
This is just info from an official message, and if there is some new information then im sorry, i can source this if someone wants.
