Just wandering how do you create a public game... There is only a Find Match button and a Create Privte Game button in the Game Info page.
It seems sometimes the Find Match would just directly start the game with the players it found, and some times it would create a public game. Confused... Maybe it has something to do with the popularity.

Both methods cause the game to appear on the open games list.
It opens a lobby for unpopular games.
I think this is because the search time would be too long - so it lets you in to a lobby so you can see how many other people are ready to play, and start it earlier if you want - rather then the search, which won't tell you see how many other people are playing and will only start when you have the maximum about of players.
In other words, it just does that to help out maps that don't have enough popularity. They thought the search would make people playing low-popularity maps too frustrated by making them wait (in the dark) for a full game. (Especially if you have a low popularity map that can sport 10 players. Then you have to wait for 10 people to search for your map to play, unlike the lobby were you can start it with only four people or something)
I agree it could be more intuitive. I have noticed that SOMETIMES it will give you a message saying "There were no open lobbies for this map. Do you want to create one?" before going in to lobby mode, but it doesn't always. Maybe that is always supposed to show when going in to a lobby? If it gave a message like that every time, it would make it more intuitive.
I newsed the update, and now it looks like I posted my own map on the front page....I promise it was sixen :P
Anyways, exciting stuff. I'll try to get the beta working and get some videos/screenshots if I can.
edit- Managed to get everything working, it seems, so I'm going to start recording now...Should have a video up soon-ish for those of you who are not in the 1.5 beta.
Random note, me and Khalanil found out it takes exactly 1 minute for a map to appear on the open games list after you search to play it. Not sure if its deliberate or not.

you mean that only 1 trigger could be run from 1 type? And to the next to start it would have to wait to finish the current.
If thats true thats great. I have map where I implemented stuff like that, but it would make life much easier in some cases.
Update: As I said before, the 1.5 add a greate feature that allow you to use trigger to dynamicly control almost every built-in UI elements just like they are normal trigger dialogs
And now I found the beta build add additonal support for this, not only the UI layer, it even allow us to use triggers to contron unit status bar frame
Which means we can dynamicly control and modify the startus bars of every single unit, just like controling a normal trigger dialog.
Maybe it will try to search for 1 min, and if there is not enough player, it would then create a public game?
Hm, interesting idea..
After some more testing, I found that the less popular maps appear quicker (40-30 seconds) but the most played maps always take 1 minute.
Also, my previous theory about which maps create a lobby and which ones use the search might be wrong... some of the maps at the top of the most played list still create a lobby rather then searching. (Although most don't) I really don't understand it.
Made some test for this, it works like some kind of message-driven "custom event".
For example, you can register a event "ABC" to trigger A.
And if you use trigger B to send event "ABC", then trigger A would run. Very interesting. But I think if it could support parameters, it could be better.
If you have access to the patch 1.5 beta...I highly recommend you load it up.
OPEN GAMES LIST HAS ARRIVED!
Oooh ooh can this be true?
Anyway post pictures!
Ahhh the new buttons are awful. But,
YOU CAN SEE THE OPEN GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
are you kidding?
Are we saved? Will we be spared from the flames?
I can only believe it when I see it.
Yep, It's out, and I've see the Open Game List.

It seems some of the editor bug brought in by 1.5 alpha still linge in 1.5 beta.Maybe it is better to send another feedback.

A quick found:
These is a new option in the editor Map > Options. called "Stagger Peridoc Trigger Events" Which I belive not existed in alpha build.
Check this could make sure the periodic trigger events won't occur at the same time.
