I am gonna copy a spell from one map to another. I´ve done it before. First I copy the effects, then I copy the actors, the models, etc in no particulary order. The spells usually seems to work in the new map.
I wonder if there is a "perfect" order in which to copy a spell? First you take that, then that etc? To minimize errors or bugs?
Well.. I would just rebuild it step by step (Recreate Ability, then effect it uses, then next effect in chain and so on). But I don't remember copying spells, I mostly try to understand and recreate them, takes longer time but expands my understanding of data and if there are errors at least I'll have an idea where to look.
Maybe it would be easier to transform map into mod, add that mod to another map, duplicate needed ability and then remove mod?
That is my typical strategy for doing something like that, it works just fine, just gotta make sure you changed all the fields to what they need, ability still works as intended before removing the mod. It is really quite simple to do, just take the map, make a copy of it, change the extension from SC2Map to SC2Mod, then make sure it is in the mod folder. After that is what ducky said.
Look at the chain. For example if your spell is Ability->Apply Behavior Effect->Behavior->Validators then you probably want to copy it in the order of validators, then behaviors, then effects, then ability. Copy actors last. I think there are some situations (like if you have a cycle) where you'll have to end up re-linking some stuff regardless.

Im actually gonna copy a spell from one mod to another mod.
How do I do in that case?
(Yea I know the best thing is to rebuild the spell from scratch. But it is a really really really advanced spell that would take forever to build)
