    ^_^  done.
I will be looking to get a 4 player game of this going this weekend (I am out of town for work until friday, but have internet via phone).
Does this game scale as more players join?  Is it possible to play solo?  Is that any way to add AI?

This is an open source project I made quite some time ago, that may work for you.  Feel free to improve it in any way you'd like, as it is rather bare-bone.

Sorry i did not test it / know i shouldn't post

but i wanted to point out that

    stranded  on krydon

should be featured on front page /#ad/direct access, whatever.. this thread should appear on front page!

This is not the place for this.  No one in charge is gonna read this, and the suggestion has already been made in the appropriate place.  We are all annoyed with the current state of the forum.  Future posts in this thread should be about the project.  I will be testing it tonight.  As someone who had never played the original stranded on krydon, it should be a great experience!

I was this close to pack up HoD and create my own web, just to host them the way the old site does it.
But don't tell anyone, our little secret 'kay.
I would have "liked" this, but we cannot do that anymore.

Picking up an initiative by Mozared and JayborinoPlays, I will be hosting a project every month for the community to focus it's attention and feedback towards (Thread found here: https://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/player-zone/map-review/131020-monthly-community-project-testing-continued/#posts). Anyone interested in having their project hosted should PM me, do not inquire here.

    Stranded on Krydon

    Project Page: https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/stranded-krydon-renewed

    EXTREME (Hard) version:  https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/stranded-krydon-renewed-extreme

Battle.net: B-net search is broken for many games, this may be one of them; otherwise, search by name.

Game Type: 1-4 Player Campaign Survival  (Should play with 4)

    Known Issues

Lag is an issue; slower game speeds reduce lag.  You can type a game speed (slow, fast, faster) during the game, to change the game speed (Default speed is slow).

45 minute mark, lag is evident.

In multiplayer games, a player leaving can cause a server split/lag overload, causing games to crash.

    Game Info

A continuation/remastered version of Stranded on Krydon, by Nagnazul; with more attention paid to aesthetics.

"You and 0-3 other SCV survivors have crash landed on Krydon, a stunning jungle planet, that was once home to a Terran colony, but is now a hostile world, totally infested and overrun by the Zerg. You must explore, gather resources, find abandoned structures, build defenses and survive Zerg night attack waves. Then chose your fate: escape, summon rescue, or last til the end."

    Feedback

Leave feedback for the project here. Negative feedback is welcome, as well as positive feedback. Refrain from flaming. Attempt to offer solutions to problems you find. You know, good feedback -The goal of this thread.

Considering single models can easily reach the file size limit... and  many projects can exceed that limit...  Can we have the old site back yet?  You can even double the load times.

Let the man enjoy his christmas before we continue to berate him.  I'm waiting patiently for a reply to queen gambit.  Though I do not agree with all of the suggestions, it was a very good presentation, and clearly communicates some major themes of this community.  If the verdict comes back "Not really" we will get a better idea where we stand; and the level we may be able to alter things.

EDIT:  Mr. Flame, when you return.  I think you should visit hiveworkshop.com and look at their site, with easily more than 1000 unique viewers at any given time.  That is what this site should be, and could be.  As a business with a vested interest in user count; it can be assumed that they have something we do not.

I do not intent to insult you, or suggest that you yourself are slacking; or even that curse is slacking.  The overall theme that (we) endure around here; is that the sc2 arcade is, and always will be an afterthought for people who have financially vested interest elsewhere.  If we can make ourselves content with what is offered, that is great.  Similar to forum suggestions over the past (since the forum has come up), Blizzard often replies with "We hired a guy to listen to you rant and rave and get a list of things you like; and we will continue to do what we want."

"We know you are unhappy with some things in the editor; so we created terrain modifiers for you, because we are using them in an upcoming project."

"We know you are unhappy with some things on the forum, so we created an all new forum, so they are all easier for us to manage."

I do appreciate that you are here, listening to us (me) rant and rave; blizzard has a guy like that too; I believe trasent is an alcoholic by now.  While I am sure both of you care about what we have to say, I doubt you guys have any more pull than us when a programmer says, "Well, we already wrote this code" (I've pulled that one quite a few times).

I think you are as dumbfounded by the rewards program as we are.  I don't think anyone here has been a member of the rewards program; and what does it offer us as mappers?  Having it at the top of the page- It seriously looks scammy to a first time viewer, and annoying to anyone else.  "Upload your project here, connect to paypal here"  While you mean well, it does not come off that way to a player just wondering how to periodically spawn marines in front of a bunker.  It is a choice no one will make their first time viewing; and as long as we know it is a choice, it isn't something we need to be reminded of every time we check the newspaper.  This is poor design; plain and simple.  "Upgrade to curse pro" at the top or bottom bars is simple enough, right?  not 1/3 of the news screen?

To (you), who made the layout, and the programs, i am sure everything makes perfect sense.  As game makers, we often find ourselves in the same boat.  After spending hundreds of hours making something, we could play it in our sleep.  A new player says "that looks silly, I don't know how to do this, where can i find that?"  We often say, "Pfft, new players just don't get it."  But that is the wrong attitude to have.  Just like a good game, you need to keep the forums "entertaining enough" for the oldschool players, and "interesting enough" for first time players; while keeping it all intuitive.

So it wasn't rushed, nor is it a bad design - in fact, based on modern design practices it nails all of the most essential tasks and exceeds our quality standard here at Curse.
It's different, yes - and I ask that you keep that in mind when judging it. This is coming from someone who has been in the design and development world for well over a decade. Change is definitely scary and can lead to knee jerk reactions very quickly. As an outsider, I think it's great.
I feel you keep coming back to this.  The majority of people on this forum are people who have used the internet before in their life. they are people who have used forums in their lives.  A great many of us had been members of the hiveworkshop.com before SC2 existed.  While nostalgia may play a role in our feelings of the new layout; you really need to stop assuming this is some knee-jerk reaction to change.  It is insulting to all of us; on the heels of being ignored for 3-4 years.

The way the forum works, the layout, ect; sure, it can grow on us.  A forum is a forum.  The main page though?  You have altered what this forum stood for, and honestly, I agree, the front page looks like something that was made in a weekend.  Sites dedicated to stealing your login info have similar front pages.
Lets look at what you have:
"Start a project"  2 links leading to the same place.  this is NOT where a new player should be going.  If you are new to the forums, you do not jump into the projects thread.  People do not browse the project threads; people do not post in the project threads.  Project threads are where people go, after reading about your project on the forums, or in your sig, or when the are familiar with the site.
"For authors"  NOPEEEE.  Screams nope.  "Why not link your paypal and amazon with us?"  Anyone new to a site who sees "wanna pay me?" links.  Scam.    This is the world we live in.
"Popular projects"  outdated projects, simple icons on a pure white background.  No one who actually uses mapster has any interest here.  Looks shoddy, and is shoddy.
"Whats new"  the most important thing, at the bottom.  This is what people are interested in; the newest updates, the newest news, the newest mods.  A giant icon saying "update" and then 6 words before it cuts out.

Put news at the top, a spot for events (weekly terraining contest, monthly testing thread, live streams, ect) up there, recently updated projects; and then you can spam the bottom half with stuff no one is interested in.

This isn't a knee jerk reaction; this is people who are part of a community, who see that you are taking the best parts of a bad system, and removing them; while making the bad system perform a little better.  The gain is not worth the loss thus far.  Your response so far has been, "We hear you, but don't plan to do anything, because your forum needs to match everyone else's; and we feel you will learn to accept that."

    The white is bleh.

News stuff should be on the main page.

My rep is all gone! :(

"Most recent topic" title previews on main forum need a higher character count shown.  I feel as though that number was reduced and I can no longer read the full title of many threads (often the deciding factor on whether I click to help someone or not).

This forum is based much more on mappers getting help with projects than advertising their projects.

Just as you say that we like the old and have a difficult time adjusting; it is equally true that once a team puts effort into creating something (the new website), it is very hard for them to justify changing it because they didn't plan well enough the first time (possibly the case in hand).

It is Ajax (his bnet name, not sure if he wants me posting his real name/project here yet). I've helped him a good bit with his project, but he has spent a lot of time in the editor learning to do stuff just so that his project could be made. A game maker who makes a game cuz he wants to play it; the best kind!

I see a lot of "we" and "us" going on. Who else is a member of the team, and what roles do they fill? Currently it looks like, "We have nothing, and we need everything" which is what most people in the world have enough of.

Convince us that your team is something we want to join, and that your projects are something we want to bring to life.

If I understand correctly, it is the same game, except that the 2nd map is just a harder difficulty? that would be allowed. Similarly if someone had a campaign that had a "starting map" which loaded you into the current mission map; a "boot screen" map, so to speak.

I have a friend with a good arcade map; but he isn't ready either; he was hoping for February; time to get an AI working; since it is a multiplayer only game; and an AI would make it much easier for us to test.
