TLDR Im sorry.. but im not taking ideas from anyone whos not in my team :), but i did read the first part, a Captain is a captain. He flys the ship. Nothing else.
...Wut?
Not much else to say, considering everyone else has already said it.
You introduce your amateur map concept to one of the largest reservoirs of skilled mapmakers for Starcraft 2, get amazing advice from one who's considered the concept for years, and then... Jegus, I'm lmao here.
I might attempt something. Haven't terrained in a while.
Map size?
EDIT: Just remembered I won't have time for this. Leaving in a few hours to fly over to my dad's. Sorry. Maybe if this is still needing terrain when I return I'll try it.
I've had an idea for a map that I've been tossing around for a while. It's kind of a campaign-ish RPG. Anyways, after starting to draw a central area, I realized that just this seemingly small monument I had made with cliff terrain took up 1/9 of the map. The city around it would have taken even more. So, (after screencapping the symbol I had made. ^_^) I closed the map and began thinking it over.
If I scaled everything down to half, or even a fourth, that would give me extra space. Plenty of extra spaces. The cliffs would, of course, be larger in appearance (Which is actually quite nice), and the map would be zoomed in. This caused several more questions to sprout up.
Would having all units/doodads/etc scaled down still cause lag if there are a large number of units? (This is mostly being asked due to my below min.specs. laptop I use, as well as because I was considering large scale battles.)
How long would it take to scale everything down to half/fourth? (Do I have to repeat it for every single unit/doodad?)
Is it even possible to scale down ability effects?
After reading this, I decided to bookmark all the [Solved] threads and I'll later put them into a thread with better titles, linking to all of them. This should make it easier to find a thread, because the titles will be clear and detailed.
Of course, with 198 threads that have SOLVED in the title, it will take some time. Already have the first 2 pages of search results bookmarked, I'll get the rest over the next week, and then recompile into a single thread the week after.
This was supposed to be the center of a city for an RPG, like a fountain, as well as starting and ending points. Ended up being a ninth of the map(256x256 map). Herpderp.
Here is an even better one: You make a map, its popular for a day, due to an abused bug it isn't played for a month, now nobody can host it. Why? The only way to host maps is:
Have it in your recently played list
Have it in the top 50
Be the author.
Where is this fabled recently played list I keep hearing about? I can't find it... -Feels mildly stupid about not being able to find it.-

Your attempts at trolling are terrible, child.

Pygalisk. 'Nuff said.
As for the Ghost thing. Nova/Ghost would mean the player could pick between female or male. And we all know people enjoy that option.

Aw, he beat me to it. :(

That is what I call a "herpderp" moment. =\

Worth it to scale down?

That screenshot shows the popularity system as time based, but I don't see what was shown in the screenshot, on my end. =\

I see.
Is it part of SC2 or...?
If there's a thread about it, you can link me there. Haven't been here in a while, so I haven't kept up with the news. =\
EDIT: Nevermind, found patch notes on it. Thanks anyways.

Time based now? Woot!
Also, what is PTR?
