Does blizzard use the biggest map size for their official maps? I haven't noticed the size much because it never seems that big. Is the biggest size map really big or does it seem small? If someone wanted an RPG on the biggest map would they be able to fit a lot?
The hard-coded limit of 256x256 is really not that large. Just compare SC2 NOTD with War3 NOTD, it is noticeably smaller. But hopefully multiplayer map linking will come to fruition and resolve the issue.
the largest you can make a map is 256x256 like TheZizz said. You can do some things to make the map seems bigger than it really is though like scaling down all of the units and camera distance to make it feel like the map is bigger. In warcraft 3 there were programs to break the limit so people could create 480x480 maps, that's why some wc3 maps seemed so big.
Will it ever be possible to make 480x480 on SC2? I'm thinking the answer will be no because Blizzard has us host the maps on their servers. They really are restricting us aren't they?
This was supposed to be the center of a city for an RPG, like a fountain, as well as starting and ending points. Ended up being a ninth of the map(256x256 map). Herpderp.
I was told buildings would give problems since they can only be 1x1 for their build site. But I asked him if it mattered since you can ignore placement requirements. So will it?

you should just enter the editor put down land marks and jump in and see for yourself.. but yes epic sizes are indeed possible

@Vlaeder: Go
Make all the doodads and units a tenth of the size they already are and you end up with a map 10 times bigger.
