Was this from the curse update?

A couple of the links for the AI Tutorials were dead. I updated one, but the other does not exist in the search stack.

A few of the camera links were dead as well. I'll try to fix as well.

Perhaps we should double check everything??

posted a message on Velocity - SC2 Arcade Idea

I think most people on this website have quite a lot of projects they are working on. I've been learning the editor for the last couple of months and it is very rewarding, but been very difficult at times. Zero PC programming experience.

If you have a basic understanding of Python, then the editor isn't totally crazy and mind blowing. You got your conditional statements, variables, some strings and functions to boot as well as some other fancy stuff!! It definitely has a steep learning curve, but once you are in you are hooked.

Wiki and forums are pretty amazing. Some dead links here and there. Just report if you find them.

I suggest doing the Blizzard tutorials. Yes, very basic and not what you are going for, but it will give you context.

Next, if you have access, take apart one of the maps that will be similar to your idea(s). You will learn a lot.

Folks on these forums are pretty awesome. Basically, any question can be answered and someone else has already done it.

posted a message on Upload Map Fail

This is what I am getting every time.

The connection to www.sc2mapster.com was interrupted. Reload this webpage. Press the reload button to resubmit the data needed to load the page. Check your Internet connection. Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using. Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings. If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again. If you use a proxy server... Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN". Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

I'm pretty sure there are some tutorials in the wiki on this topic. If not, find someone's map that has a custom UI and is open to all and look through their code. Gl

posted a message on What's going on with everyone?

I recently found this community. Pretty exciting!!

I used to be a Math Teacher, but left cause it was just too crazy. I love Math, but felt like I was making kids hate it even more than they already did. It was seriosuly weighing me down cause I always had awesome Math teachers. Oh and I worked in the "hood" of Philadelphia, which was not terrible and the pay/benefits were pretty amazing imo, but it came with certain challenges. Now I am a glorious construction worker!! I work for myself, which is awesome and really stressful at times, but I get to listen to history podcasts all day (Mike Duncan and Dan Carlin are my best friends). However, I get 0 sick days and 0 vacation days and when things fall apart I am the only one to blame. I got into Starcraft2 after leaving the teaching scene and have found it the best $40 investment I have made in my life. I'm getting more fascinated with PCs and programming, but I have no idea where it is all going, but I've been learning some Python on top of trudging through the galaxy editor. Also, I just signed up for one of those edx classes cause I need some structure. I think, in the long run, I would like to go back to school for some sort of PC/Coding track, but want to see how this edx class goes before I pursue it.

I used to be a huge bicycle rider. 3 or 4 times a week I would go ride 20 to 50 miles around the city. Also, my wife and I have ridden over 2500 miles together across parts of the US!! You do something like that and you know your marriage is gonna last!! Sleeping in a tiny tent with your partner for 2 months will test your sanity and make living in a house with them a cake walk. I have sorta fallen off the wagon/bicycle of late, but hope to get back into it. If I glance out the window I see 10 inches of snow so just lots of day dreaming and push ups at the moment.

Looking forward to playing more custom campaigns, contributing my own and making an all around amazing custom campaign scene!!

posted a message on Custom Campaign Initiative

I am excited about this scene!!

I really want to see/make happen a custom campaign tutorials for beginners. Basically, a streamline of some basic tutorials from the wiki, tips from the pros(you guys), Blizzard maps to study (just a couple), story telling advice and a little more/much more. I was/still a total newb with the editor, but was so blown away by the Mass Recall campaign that I was like "must make my own campaign". Anyways, the first page I ever saw of this site was the CCI page. I think having a "tutorial/you want to make your own campaign" link would help inspire people and keep the scene fresh with new ideas and campaigns to play.

Not trying to be too ambitious. Lots going on for all of us. However, Red Rev and Eivindl seem to be setting up their own campaign tutorials/advice sections. What do you think Terhonator? CCI page got room for "Campaign Making for Beginners."

While we are on the subject. I've been trying to publish my map alpha style. The top of my project management page says waiting to be approved and when I try to upload a file it either stays at 0% or fails. Any thoughts? Perhaps I did not follow the proper procedures...but it seemed pretty straightforward.

posted a message on SC2 Mapster Clan Decal

    Hey all,

Does Mapster have a clan? Perhaps we could make one up? I see we have a group on the chat channels. I'm loving the new clan decals everyone has on ladder, but I am clanless and thought about making something up....then it occurred to me that Mapster get could some free advertising!! Do we have a stock image that I could use as a clan decal that brings Mapster glory and riches?

Anyone have any ideas for one?

I'm sorta envisioning a Clan of Mapster folks that would saturate ladder and the Arcade with our sleek clan decal. The decal would wow more people to our site and those people would end up creating awesome campaigns and Arcade Favorites! Perhaps saturate is the wrong word, as we are a tiny niche of a niche game, but hey one can hope!!
