Above=A Pokemon RPG for PC. Amazing. Just with all the pokemon up to generation 4, and pretty much everything you said :P. Now just hope they ar going to make one.
Issue is the protoss are technologically advanced but relatively stagnant in their ways comparable to the ancient Egyptians or Romans.
I say first mission should be a different character to introduce protoss gameplay doing what the protoss do best. That is purifying planets of zerg. After that it then pans to the hero who has been stuck on guard duty for ages almost envying that life (later finds he rues ever having done so) but has his never ending duty to perform. The eternity of his duty is disrupted by the terrans who may have been influenced by duran/narud.
The terrans can be portrayed as militant mercenaries, as rogue government special forces with their own political agenda or one in the hands of the other via a corrupt agent.
Anyhow I think that part of the plot has three missions, first is patrols vs local wildlife followed by trying to repel the attackers. Second is having to flee the now open/occupied vault and the third is planetside where you have to figure out what you must do next to return to duty/are ordered to relocate.
There is then a hub mission where you can walk around a protoss ship to do the next few story arcs.
Souns like a good idea. No Really much else to say :P.
I used to play Soul Silver on DS. Pokemon used to be fun, but now with the new generations (from 5 and on) the added Pokemon just get crappier, so i'm sad about that, how Pokemon used to be such a great game.
Does anybody know if there's some kind of Pokemon game for PC or IPod/IPhone app?
We thought of a twist for the plot that when the weapon is finally finished, your 'boss' betrays you and takes the weapon for itself, then the final missions start in which you have to destroy the weapon and your boss's followers. Thanks for the information above!
I have copy-pasted yukaboy's storyline we've been talking about in the posts. This storyline is not permanent. Prepare for lots of text:
Praetor (hero's name) was tasked with defending a secret protoss science facility on a distant moon. It was a boring job, but important, due to the fact that what they were experimenting with was one of the most powerful weapons that the protoss have ever developed. It just so happened that on this day, the terran faction known as the Conquest Legion has managed to finally track down the protoss science facility. This terran faction was known for stealing powerful technologies in order to raid the dominion and steal a lot of money. Only recently, this faction managed to spot the protoss weapon and the protoss have had to keep moving bases. But now, the protoss were outgunned and with the remaining forces that (hero's name) had, he warped back to shakuras. They couldn't lose that secret weapon, so (hero's name) was sent on a mission to find the Conquest Legion and return the weapon to the protoss. Now he's finally caught up with them and that's where the campaign begins.
I'd also like to mension that I already thought up an ending and that would require 3 other characters. An executor, a dark prelate, and a judicator. I've already come up with the judicator's name, Exardoss, and the dark prelate's name, Vaxor. I will explain what I think the ending should be soon...
Hero Abilities, Hero Name, and maybe some more missions...
EDIT: I've figured out the names...
Judicator Exardoss, Dark Prelate Vaxor, Executor Urakunn, and...Praetor Jaedur ('J' - 'drr')
Hows that sound?
Here's some story design behind each individual character and how they are going to react throughout the story.
Praetor Jaedur: The original idea was he made a mistake and I wanted that to be important to the story because it bites him in the butt later. In order to try and redeem himself, he tries to find and catch the retreating terrans. In the first mission, you catch a scent of where they are going and throughout the story, you continue fighting through different obstacles, until finally, at the 5th to last mission, you finally catch them in a space battle. Then, in the 4th to last mission, you reclaim the secret weapon. I had no plans for what the weapon could be, but I wanted it to be small and I feel a mothership is too big.
Judicator Exardoss: This guy is like your boss throughout the story. He was the original guy that sent the expedition and now, since you messed his plans up, he wants you to do all his work for him. I think it's fine if he does special stuff that you need along the way. Anyways, his behavior towards Jaedur is going to be rudeness, anger, and vengeance. At the end, on the 3rd to last mission, he betrays you and takes the weapon for himself. His plan, all along, was to decimate, not only the Conquest Legion, but also the Dominion, Raynor's Raiders, the Swarm, and every enemy in his way. Throughout the last 3 missions, you get closer and closer until you finally defeat him.
Executor Urakunn: I wanted this guy to be your adjutant, mainly because that's his normal job in every melee game you'll play. Besides that, maybe he could play a role as a merchant or something for upgrades, I don't know.
Dark Prelate Vaxor: I wanted this guy to be a playable hero in maybe 1 mission. I kind of wanted him to be like tosh from WOL. I wanted him to be an ally that you get somewhere in the middle of the campaign and then use him in a mission later on. That's all the background really. (He uses the mohandar ship and maybe a different portrait, not sure)
Dark Templar Arilar: I didn't design this guy, but you can make him whatever you please for the campaign and so far, I'm ok with it.
That's true. You should contact the leader (Kueken) to talk about this and make a team for the project. I am also willing to help, and there are a lot of others who are.
So far this Campaign idea has only been brainstorming. Kueken started the thing about the campaign and has only been experimenting as far as I know. But if you want to know how many people have posted here, go and count them :P
Question, chronologicaly where would be your campaign situated?
Our campaign is mostly aside from the main storyline, so no Zeratul, Kerrigan and so on, but i think it will take place on a far side of the Koprulu Sector after the happenings in HotS. Not sure of the last though.
The main enemy in this mission are actually the Terrans, who are trying to steal the Terrazine gas sites to fuel their weapons and power psionics like Ghosts. The zerg-like plants are more of a wildlife reacting to its invader.
Maybe I'm missing something, but aren't the Protoss highly against messing with the natural order of things? Going into a planet and destroying things... I don't know, it just doesn't feel right to me. Maybe you have to destroy various infestations while preserving a certain % of the planet? Not sure how you would do that. I don't know.
You're kinda right. Just made it up, but there are a few solutions to this:
Like you said, preserving at least a percentage of the planet
Somehow relating them with the zerg, protoss hate zerg
Make a second mission in which you have to restore the natural order of the planet
There should be more, but this is all i can think of :P
Nobody has posted anything here for a while, so i'll go ahead and give a suggestion for another mission.
Mission: Overgrowth
Objective: Secure Terrazine Gas on Sylvan Prime
Possible new unit(s): Colossus
Story: Sylvan Prime is a small planet that has been recently discovered by the Protoss. The terrans also know this, because they had a spy network set up on the Protoss. They know that there is a large amount of Terrazine on the planet, so they sent out a force to claim it. The planet, however, has been untouched since the beginning of times. This caused the Fungal hives to expand freely, covering the whole planet in Fungal Colonies.
Quests:
Destroy the Fungal Hive at the Terrazine Geyser
The Terrans may not reach the Terrazine Geyser
Kill Lesser Fungal Hives (optional)
You start with your hero and some troops. To build a base, you need to clear out a lesser Fungal Hive. All fungal hives quickly spawn many types of Fungal Colonies to attack. These plants all function differently in combat. Some attack your units, others trap them in place and release poisonous gases to kill them. After clearing the Hive, you set up your base. The base will be constantly attacked by groups of Colonies spawned by the Lesser Fungal Hives, which you can take out to stop these attacks (maybe get some kind of currency). The main Fungal Hive near the Terrazine Geyser is surrounded by cliffs, so only Colossi, transports and air units are able to reach it. If you kill the hive, the terrazine is yours and the mission ends. The Terrans will try to reach the Geyser as well, so you need to work fast.

Aside from the 'normal' Pokemon games, there were also Dungeon Rescue Team games, or something called like that.

I can do Story / Lore, Mission design (ideas, not the maps) and basic terraining.
Souns like a good idea. No Really much else to say :P.
Good luck!

So where do we start now? can we make up the storyline, get all the units and heroes done, or think of some more missions?

Do you mean we need to find a reason for the protoss to hate the zerg?
0
Could be, but for now the campaign is more like a side story and is not related to the campaigns and other SC stories released by Blizzard.
@Thunderzak: Go
