The mission i posted was only the thing we talked about earlier, not anything else. I think your campaign mission is more like a mid campaign mission as objective, while i think mine is actually a starting mission :P. Having a big mission as second mission isn't a good idea, IMO.
First, we should have a cinematic to connect mission 1 and two in story.
Second, here my ideas of mission 2:
* Mission 2: The First Scent
Objective: Get to know more about the Legion's plans
Available units: Jaedur
allies: Zealots
Enemies: Terran Forces
Quests:
Reach all 5 Data Storages
Escape the Facility
Jaedur must survive
Story/Gameplay: You start on the Science Vessel where the Conquest Legion stored special information and their plans. You get inside and fight a way to each of the Storages. Occasionally some allied Zealots help you out. Once you reach the final Storage, the Vessel starts a meltdown and you must return to the start before the Facility explodes.
Discipline could also be a fitting name, but remember that Protoss also have the 'Disciple' rank for the units with less than five kills. It might be too similar.
Has there been any work on the map? if yes, how is the map doing?
Small note: I suggest we call the 'strains' for the Protoss units Aspects. For example the Vindicator Aspect (random name i made up). How does that sound?
I suggest the hero you're playing in mission 1 is not the same as the one you're gonna fight. If you know about the hero and its skills, it is no longer a challenge to kill him, and no surprise twist in the plot that he takes the 'weapon'. The abilities seem like a good idea though.
You will still get periodic reinforcements warping in, and zealots are free, so resources shouldn't be a problem. We could also have ships drop in mineral pickups.
I chose this tileset just to experiment with making the terraining. For the first map, the tile set doesn't matter though as it could be any planet infested with zergs.
I have a good idea how the system for the first mission could be:
There are no mineral patches, but you start with 10K minerals. the following buildings and units can be made:
Nexus: 1500 minerals
Probe:10 minerals, normal build time
Pylon:50 minerals
Cannon:100 minerals
Gateway:250 minerals/ upgrade to Warp Gate: Free
Zealots: free, 30 second training time/warp cooldown
Stalkers: 50 minerals, 28 second training time/warp cooldown, no Cybernetics Core required
Robotics Facility: 300 minerals, no Cybernetics Core required
Immortals: 100 minerals, normal training time
Colossus: 200 minerals, normal training time, no Robotics Support Bay required
No Forge and Cybercore, all units have 2/2/2 upgrades by default.
Idea for the attacks from the rear: When you are about half on the route for the main base, a Nydus worm appears at the landing zone, spits out a drone, which constructs a Hatchery. Then, you will also be attacked from the behind.
I reduced infestation on the landing zone and added some rock spires at the bottom. I can add some screenshots later. If you might wonder, the tileset is Zhakul'das.
EDIT: Added the screenshots, but somehow i can't get any units and trees/rocks at the low ground. any solution?
I have attached some screenshots for the first map. This is the landing zone.
Note: I am not yet experienced with terraining. Tell me if you see something that needs improvement.
There shouldn't be any units trained on the first mission, just units warped in for free at the main base. Remember that the goal of the first mission is to make an epic battle, not to let the player go total macro for protoss. For the first mission, i suggest only using Zealots, Stalkers and Immortals to not spoil any of the new units and upgrades available later on in the campaign. I could do the terraining for the first mission, if i get enough experience i can also be the terrainer for other maps :).
Here's my point of view for the first mission. Tell me what you think of it.
* * Mission 1: Purification
Objecitve: Cleanse the planet of Zerg
Available units: Everything
Allies: None
Enemies: Lots of Zerg
Quests:
Kill all Zerg on the planet
The Mothership must survive
Story/Gameplay: This is a view of the future, where you have finished the weapon and start cleansing the Sector of Zergs. You start with a huge Protoss army and must destroy all the enemy Zerg on the map. You will sometimes get reinforcements. This map is mostly an epic start of the campaign to get you excited :P.

I think we've had enough discussion about mission one for now, let's move on to the second one. I will post my ideas about the second mission later.

with 'ok for now' i meant what we have discussed so far :P.

I think the first mission is ok now, except for the hero. We haven't talked about the hero in the first mission yet. Do we need to?

I like the ideas mentioned above and i made a (crappy) attempt of a map sketch in Paint. Enjoy.
