How do I do this with characters? Their textures are all named "Body.tga" when I go to Export Textures but if we need to put them all into the root folder and there is more than one custom character, they will have the same file name . . see my point? Without the directories, it won't work, unless you rename the texture file perhaps? Anyone know what I mean, how to bypass this problem?

I've actually been trying to do this with characters; for example a worgen. His head, arms, and legs wont show up in-editor or game. If I could get past this problem, there's got to be a way past putting them all in the root folder.
Hi. I have a problem with the WoWMV: some models in the filelist, when I click them they don't show in the preview, with no animations, no textures. But other models do show.
Edit: While I desperately tried to figure out the cause of my problem, something very strange happend: the bear model didn't show up before, but when I clicked on the dryad and then on the bear, it showed! It is a weird method... but it works! :)
I think I might have found out the problem. I was reading around the page and it said that the latest version supported was 3.3.x so I'm assuming that didn't mean Cataclysm which is how high I upgraded to.
Ive been working with models from WOW and created a few melee units in Starcraft. My only problem, that i havent seen addressed here yet, is that i cannot seem to link archer animations together in order to have a fluid motion representing the one found playing an archer in WOW. Anyone have any expertise in this area?
So I reinstalled WoW and slowly, but surely, patched to 3.3.5 and it didn't work. So I'm open to any ideas to try to get this working. I was also wondering the same thing as ApolloStarcraft. I was wondering if you could make a fluid archer attack animation and what not. I noticed the slyvannas from Blizzard All Stars has a fluid motion but I'm guessing they made if from the ground up.
EDIT: I looked in the log and it comes up with these two errors
12:04:47: Error: Can not enumerate files in directory 'C:\Games\WoWgasm\Data\Cache' (error 3: the system cannot find the path specified.)
12:04:47: Error: Can not enumerate files in directory 'C:\Games\WoWgasm\Data\Cache\enUS' (error 3: the system cannot find the path specified.)
Still looking for help with my problem. I use to be able to do it all fine and dandy.
It seems like its not allowed to read in that directory... thats something your going to have to post about in the WMV thread (in the art section, he has a thread)
How did OP manage to extract those human buildings and get them converted to M3?
WoW model viewer is only useful for crashing when exporting WMO's as OBJ's or LightWave models.
Im not sure I understand... I was able to do it via the way the tutorial says. what part are you having issues with, ill be happy to point you in the right direction.

I dunno if it's been said in the 137 posts on here... but characters can be imported to maps, and have armor and weapons attached to them in game. i've done it several times in my map, with different units and different imported characters.
Also, im not 100% sure. but in the making of my map i tried using some of the animations in that list. and MOST didnt work, i dunno about all. but for s sure fire way, and im 100% sure it'll allow u to do everything you need to with animations, i use:
Attack,
Dance,
Ready,
Spell,
Spell End,
Death,
Walk,
Dead
i use DANCE for any animation that i'd consider as "other" like a "stunned" animation, or a knockdown, or a battle cry or something like that. hope this helps someone

I'm also trying to get animations to work, but I am having little success. For example, I am trying to make the Lich King make a casting animation when using a spell; however, all that he does is plays another idle standing position animation.
Do you know how I could use triggers or the data editor to.. force him to change animations for a set period of time?

Where is my "WC3 to SC2 in 30 minutes! WITH 3dmax!" :(

When I first start up the WoWmodel viewer it asks me to select a folder. I select the WoW one and then it just closes.
Make sure wow is not running in the background, and that you are running he program in administration mode.
Wow isn't open and I tried running both as admin and not and even going into properties and telling it to run as admin.
EDIT: Wondering if there is a problem between Windows 7 and the modelviewer. That's the only thing I've changed since the last time I used it.

First id like to say, this tutorial has just had a massive update!

whoops, delete this didn't read latest post
Added a page to the wiki for allowed animation names you can use a combo of them I do believe.
