Speed-Craft is an 8 player racing map that plays/looks/feels very similar to that of the F-Zero games. Players race around the track while avoiding its borders and other players. The map is set to 10 laps for launch and includes graphical options to make it more accessible to various PC's.
It is now available on battlenet and i have brought a video with me to show you a 7/8 player race!
Something was going on with the mouse steering, was really jerky and hard to steer, but i was getting 50fps, so I don't know what it was exactly. Pretty cool map though!
looks like this game makes all of sc2 major failings come to light.....
looks like your doing movement based on a periodic offset of the unit and ordering to move there, hence the jerky movement.
the wall bumber action looks funny.
Game like this can only get better if blizz makes improvements.
Actually i explained at the start of the video the cause for the jerky movement. Fraps cut my framerate to about 10-15 while recording and that caused the insane amounts of stuttering.
On the bump action looks funny... i dont even know what to say. It works and its fun so that should be it imo lol
BTW I wasnt being negative was just saying its hard to do these kinda maps because of the UI limitations.
What I meant about the wall bumping... is that it is funny to watch in the video..... so yeah
Ill have to give it a try when I get home tonight. But how do you handle the movement. You queing it up with periodic triggers based on the angle of the players camera?

unfortunately i cannot play this game whenever i speed up my framerate drops to 5 and i cant tell what is going on. (with low farclip and lowest settings, my guess is that the far clip lags behind so when im going fast i end up rendering half the map, but when i slow down i dont)
i found 2 bugs though if you hold down accelerate, you will respawn with the same acceleration rate, and i also managed to glitch outside of the course.

Getting outside of the course is a known issue that i tried to fix. The entire course is pathed 100% but sometimes when it checks the pathing it doesnt check it fast enough i guess and it registers it as part of the track. Thankfully this doesnt happen to much ><

wow, really nice job with the environment and track .
Looks pretty badass. Although seeing a carrier doesn't seem so fast. Maybe it's because it's so big.
is that crazy camera collision i see?
Either way, this looks good- and a step in the direction most mappers should be taking

Could've mentioned which battle net it was up on. Just wasted 2 minutes checking. :<
