Hello, me and a team of map makers, modders and a few other volunteers have gathered to create a "sequel" as to speak for Wc3. What we want to try and achieve is the same feeling of the integration between an RTS and RPG that Wc3 provided while trying to keep things new and fresh.
What you see here is a teaser trailer (EVERYTHING YOU SEE IS DONE IN THE SC2 EDITOR) we are releasing as our mod steadily approaches alpha testing. Return July 1rst, 2011 for some more exciting content to be unveiled!
"When old hope is lost.
When old faith wavers... and old bonds lie broken.
When all things seem to be coming to an... irrepressible end.
We look to the light hoping it will guide us through the enroaching dark.
We look to the god's praying they will guide our swords through our enemy's hearts.
We look for new hope, new faith and new allies.
On July the 1st, look for their coming.
New Team. New Mod. New Mission.
Warcraft: A New Dawn."
i think that looks really impressive! best thing to do to use these nice wow models and create an wc3ish sequel - very nice!
i also like that battle at the end, it really looks wc3 like. thats what i kinda miss while recreating a custom map from wc3, it just feels like sc2 only - and that kinda sucks.
do you allow some public people into alpha/beta testing? would love to check it out!
@PatchOne: Go
Ty, information of the alpha, beta and what not will be announced as we get there. Right now we're looking at building the alpha which is actually playable but rather crude lol.
@Keyeszx: Go
No he is not affiliated with us, we decided to use his model for the cinematic just cause it is a very nice model! We'd actually love to have him on-board but I think he is pursuing his own projects.
@zeldarules28: Go
They're in WoW somewhere, I think we searched huts, or something. If you want a specific thing PM me :P.
At most all units except the footmans are WoW models, there was Rexxar, some grunts, some bristlebacks, the walls, the ships, the tents, the kodo and maybe the trees, too.
But I really dislike the footmans, because they look different. Just a hint: when you choose and import so much from WoW you should also make some footmans. Or they will look like they won't fit to the rest.
Anyway, I'm pretty good with the Warcraft lore, so I could help you in that aspect easily. I know the lore like the palm of my hand, and it's not an exaggeration, I can prove it whenever you want :P.

I'll send you a pm on how to apply to the team if you wish.
Very cool! Would have liked a bit more action in the trailer, but awesome nonetheless!
Very nostalgic, brings back good memories of WC3 and WC2 :)
I apologize if this has already been answered, but will you be including a singleplayer campaign? I'm personally a huge SP guy, it would make my day to see that come to light. Any word on gameplay also? Are you staying similar to WC3 with smaller-ish armies and heroes? Consider going more "epic" LotR style with huge armies and such? Random ideas at this point
I'd love to see one of these finally finished. But as hard as I look, there's only like 5 real building models. So there's no way to do it without somehow ripping models out of WC3 or having them custom made.
Also.

Don't take this the wrong way, but the trailer/video thing was rather bland. . . the majority of the vid was fade shots over terrain that was generally uninteresting. I "think" there were a couple before/after shots showing the conversion, but I honestly couldn't tell given how the video was put together. Even at the end the battle was lackluster because it just looked like a line of units clashing as opposed to any sort of real battle charge.
If you make any more videos I strongly recommend you spend more time making longer segments that are easier to follow and showcase more of what your map really is. Right now, with exception to some custom art, I could go into WoW and run around the Barrens making clips of piggies and hills.
Concept sounds pretty cool though and I know it'll look sexy with Triceron's models :)
Yup, campaign and melee.
The release will be in staggered stages though, more on that soon enough.
Gameplay is basically Warcraft III on steroids. I know that's not saying much and it might appear like I'm avoiding the question but right now we're just trying to crack on and release something, nothing fancy but just a little taste which everyone can give feedback on allowing us to then mould the game to the community's expectations and standards as opposed to our own.
The structures, such as the tower, aren't listed under any of the .mdx models. Many of the buildings in WoW are actually a different file format that can only be exported as .obj files last i checked. You then have to import those files to max, redo the materials and export as M3 for use in SC2.
Overall, I'm just impressed by how many Wow models you managed to import to SC2. Along with all the animations and such, that must have been a daunting task in itself. Though you've still got a shit ton more to do in that department, of course.
Just curious, what positions do you guys need filling, if any? I'm currently working with SCLegacy on various projects, but I'm still interested in joining up if I can. Shoot me a PM if you'd like.
Looks cool; I think a lot of us secretly wish we had warcraft 4 over sc2 (fantasy > sci fi?).
The trailer was well done but the first half is all close up shots that just look like WoW... for me it got more interesting when I could see the RTS view of people fighting.
PS: Is this is the continuation of http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/warcraft-legacy-damned/ ? I get confused with so many Warcraft-to-StarCraft mods out there, lol. I'm helping on one already but no idea if they're related xD.

Is Triceron making all the models for the units?
Looks great- but where did you get building models? I looked through WoW model viewer and there's like 2....

I saw only 2 units. =/

WoW assets are being used as placeholders until the art department catches up.
Rofl, I think I had already posted here...

You could use a spelling checker going over the site, but apart from that, looks solid! I'll be following this with interest!

yes it is, we re-branded the project after it sort-of didn't work out. The few dedicated team members started this project instead.
Been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long since we updated this on here:
