I've got the 2012 version of Maya from Autodesk (I'm a student, not a rich person :P), and I get this weird bug. Randomly, my screen will turn white/gray and all my objects will vanish. I can still click on them, so they are still there, but I can't see them in general. The first picture in the attachments shows this problem. The second picture shows what the screen is supposed to look like.
Is this a bug or some sort of feature I don't need?
I use Maya occasionally (an older version) and I never experienced that problem. Possibly a bug that came with the new version? Is what you are using in BETA?
Well, I lack any modeling knowledge, but does this occur when you hit a button, or when you're not doing anything at all? It seems to me as if you've simply accidentally pushed a hotkey that in some way changes what you're viewing? In a similar fashion to how people in the galaxy editor accidentally hit shift+D and then wonder where all their doodads went.
off chance that it might have hard time showing whats on screen depending on graphics/cpu. i highly doubt it but its a chance. i've never ran into that problem whilst i used blender 5months ago, otherwise most likely would be hotkey...
actually i think you went to the 2nd frame in the animation(if this makes sense) look at the timeline bar , i remember in blender you mostly worked on 1 frame and when you went to the next frame it was all gone unless you told it to copy the last frame so you can move stuff around(this should be it), sooo it might be misclick or hotkey accident :( hope this is the answer GL
Try switching in between OpenGL and Direct3D. Should fix it. Not sure if maya supports that, 3ds max does, though. And yeah, most likely is your graphics card not being able to render the viewports properly.

Great to be back and part of the community again!
Not using Beta. It's just 2012. Others with 2012 don't seem to have this problem. :S
I prefer Inca's.
Noooo! I've been trolled!
Seriously, does anyone know?

It does seem like it's triggered by something, except it's random. x.x;

I'll give the frame movement a go next time I use Maya and see if it fixes it.
I tried the frame thing. It didn't work. :(
