Well I have been a long time SC2 player, and I got kinda bored with the actual game and got into the custom maps, and I am also a long time fan of TD games, and I really don't like seeing unbalanced, boring, or otherwise "cookie cutter" and I decided to try to make a map on my own.
But to do this, I will need some help withe the map maker, and the tutorials are really hard for me to understand, so I was wondering if I could get some general new map maker tips and if anyone would be willing to help my learn. Thanks.
EDIT: More Specififcally what I want to learn how to do is:
Make it so certain units can build.
Edit units to make them towers
Spawn creeps when all current units are dead and after a timer has counted down
I'm making a TD game if you can't tell :P, so if you have any suggestions and or tips/tricks, that would be greatly appericiated.
Thanks I will try to watch those videos when i have time, but do you happen to know if there are any videos/beginner guides for TD games? Cause I dont want to have to watch like 12 hrs of video to find 1 hr of TD related content. :P
Have fun, the best part about editing is proving people wrong about what you can and can not do with the starcraft 2 engine. Not that I have, yet, but some day I, or even you might!
I find that trying to prove someone wrong about the starcraft 2 engine is just more work than is needed. Some of the systems people want to make could be made in a real game engine, UDK/Unity, in less time it takes to make a starcraft 2 map.
Oh, crazy....Xml is not a programming language- It's the worlds most basic markup language, which could to thought to anyone in (not kidding) less than 60 seconds. ;)
if you go into the data part of the editor and you like to make a new unit the best way is duplicate a unit smiler to what you like to create
and example i like to make a failiator its a car with custom model and it have a gun and it shoot sheep's (lol) it does 10 damage +50 vs psyonic
so i duplicate the marauder and copy the next
hellion unit
actor hellion and the weapon actors (missile impact ect)
the effect (for most units all)
the sounds
and the missile missile impact missile launch model model death and portrait
and the weapon
than you can changes all the green things (or black )
and one thing DO NEVER CHANGES THE id OR THE ACTORS DOEST WORK)
oo and changes the name of your model of you get button/tooltip/marauder2 (im not sure its button tooltip)
Why did no one here link the SCmapster mentor thread yet? There's a lot of people good in specific areas of the editor that have offered to be 'mentors' and are basically open to PM for any questions.

Welcome to the wonderful, amazing, fun, and stressful world of map making! ( Not really stressful, it might be if you don't like doing it that much. )

Welcome to mapster! Feel free to send me a PM if you need anything or have any questions!
The channel you were linked to covers TD maps in a few tutorials, I believe.
Prepare to become an indentured slave to your map if you want to produce any sort of quality product.

There, I found it: http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/resources/tutorials/21254-mapster-mentoring/
Keep in mind it's a bit outdated, so you might find some folks who are no longer into mapping, but it should still be a good bet.
