I don't know if anything can or will be done about this, but that birth control advertisement on this site offends me greatly. I have very strong religious objections to it, and am almost certainly not the only one.
If it's up to me, no specific actions will or should be taken. Your offense is nonsense. In the same sense, I could be offended by the fact that you're offended about the birth control add. If you have religious objections to birth control, then be sure to not use it yourself - don't rub your opinion in the face of others and certainly do not expect others to pay heed to the fact that you are so backwards about a subject that seeing an add about it actually makes you feel uptight.
Not trying to troll, but this kind of censorship is the worst in its case and I will 'fight' against it wherever I go or encounter it.
I guess it depends entirely on what the birth control ad actually entailed. On the one hand, I completely support birth control, but I vehemently appose abortions. From a religious standpoint, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a couple consummating their marriage, but if they are not mentally or financially ready to support a child it is down right irresponsible NOT to use birth control.
In the same sense, if you oppose birth control in general, what else do you propose we use to protect young women from getting pregnant more than they already do? It's not like you can simply stop all teens from having sex everywhere. Thus birth control is one of the only safety nets we have in those cases where teens decided to be stupid and ignore conventional wisdom.
While I can't exactly speak for women because I'm obviously male, some women use birth control because it reduces or removes the discomfort of a particular monthly occurrence.
Simply put we are better off WITH birth control than we ever would be without it.
Regardless of your opinion, if the ad bothers you, get Adblock and FireFox. I honestly have never seen an ad on my computer. I started using it back in high school when I began surfing the web actively. It's so good at blocking ads that I actually didn't realize how bad ads are getting in general. I'd have friends say, "omg I hate going to this site, so many ads!" while I'm completely baffled because I've been going to a site for years, ad free!
It even removes adds in YouTube videos. . . hawt. . . stuff. . .
is it just me or have there been 5 billion threads about ads in the last few weeks? Search function people...
Also, I'm pretty sure what ads show up on a site is not really under the site's control in a lot of cases since I'm pretty sure that people that want to put adds up go from random site to random site and offer ads, instead sites add a generic ad thingamajig that picks a random ad that fits the sites content and shows it to random unsuspecting visitiors and proceeds to stab them 37 times in the chest I could be mistaken though since I have never looked at a site's code for ads and even if, I wouldn't understand it.
And with you being offended, deal with it, this is the internet. You can and will be offended by things you find, and more often than not no one will care and will probably even offend you further just because they can. Sorry if I sound harsh or rude, but that's how it is.
And yea, just get an adblocker or upload a map here to get rid of ads.
Are the ads on here generated by Google Ads? If so, then they are based on your own internet browsing. Funny that they would show birth control ads to you, though, if that is the case.

keke.
I'm not exactly sure, I believe Curse just has deals with certain companies. They try to get gaming-related ads, but I guess there are some no-gaming ones as well (i've seen a hotel one or two).
But yeah, authors and Curse Premiums won't see ads.

While I won't get into a religious or political discussion here, I would ask that you try to care less about things that have nothing to deal with you. Nobody is forcing you to take or avoid taking birth control. Like everyone else has said, uploading something gets rid of all ads (I didn't even know this site had ads :P)
i rarely post on here but this post riles me so much i feel inclined to at least say something.
first of all, +1 to mozared, and if something offends you can you simply NOT look at it, and NOT take any action from what it is tells you to do?
it makes absolutely no difference what-so-ever whether I or you or anyone else does or does not get offended by advertising on a religious basis. religion is something you choose to be a part of and to suggest that someone should change something due to YOUR belief is immensely ignorant on your part. religion can be a great thing to so many people, but you, like so many others, turn it into such a bad thing.
You're a inspiration for birth control religion troll !
I keep getting commercials about female's waxing their legs with 'Veet' or whatever on the stream.
My testicles feel offended, can anything be done against this ?

Don't think I can add anything that hasn't already been said, but no, the ad won't go away (until the company or Curse decides to stop promoting it), I apologize for the inconvenience but as people have already said uploading a file or getting an ad blocker will make it disappear

Using Blocker is against some sites and forums rules even thought they can't really detect it.
i cant see them at all. but may i ask is it just on the first page cos i never even go to the home page o hotlink straight to forum section in my tab bar. maybe you could do the same thing

Upload a random map to become an 'author' it'll block ads on this website.
Ads can(in some cases) be rather...random. Due to multiple reasons.
It is unlikely we could remove an advertisement in specific.
As the above poster mentions, Becoming an author through a map upload will block ads. That or use ad-blocking software depending on your browser.

Learn to block ads via browser...been doing it for years now. Also, Mozared had an amazing reply...my hat is off to him.
If you upload a map and become an author it blocks them all.

That is very debatable... Pretty sure no one else here really gives a shi*. Or they are smart and become an author.
Great to be back and part of the community again!
