It’s simple: Be the first person to complete Tower Defense Tycoon with a final score of over $1,000,000!
To cash in on this contest, you must save a replay of your successful attempt. Send the replay to me, you can PM me here at sc2mapster.com, or you can e-mail me at [email protected]. If you’re the first person who can accomplish this, you’ll win the top prize! The second and third people to do this will also get a little something, so don’t despair.
1st Prize: $100 (U.S. currency), and a 1-year curse premium membership (WINNER: Andrenden)
Each prize will be sent to only ONE person. The money can be sent to the winner via pay pal, or I can issue it through something else like an e-mailed Amazon gift certificate. Winner’s choice.
As you may have guessed by now, given that the top prize is one hundred actual U.S. American dollars, this is challenge is not easy! I will leave this contest going for as long as it takes, but I’ll post back here with some hints in a few weeks if no one has won yet.
UPDATE 5-13: This contest is now closed! I have a winner for all ranks, but I'm still sorting out the second and third prizes. Just in time too, the next update will be adding more difficulty that also increases your final score so it will be much easier to breach 1 million in v1.11.
Man.. 2300 spectators at the end but one of the waves got me at -13% popularity. I assume that effects the buyout. Because I got $0 buyout. >.> I was playing on extreme. lol Ended up with 161k final score. XD
This has to one of the best TD I've played. Seriously, well done. I want to get 1 mill though.
So a replay won't show totals = / I beat it on the hardest difficulty after afk for the last 6 or so rounds lol, is there a way to tell from a replay what my total SHOULD have been? *figuring tower assets manually, buyout price when beat on Bankrupt mode, ect* If there is could you let me know either by PM or otherwise? Got the replay in anycase
Just be sure to send me the replay if you make it. A replay shows me all the same text printouts that you see in the game, and when you earn your final payout it sets your $ resource (mineral slot) to your final score, and you can see that value at all times in a replay.

So here's how the game works. If you beat it on easy your final payout is $100,000, add an extra 100k per difficulty level up to a 500,000 payout for bankruptcy difficulty. If you play on "random upgrades" it will add an extra $100k + ($10k * difficulty).
Think I just cleared 1,000,000.... O.O Sent the replay and checked to make sure the tab worked, you can see it go from 900,000 into the 1,000,000 rollover!
Nm, sounds like when someone leaves my towers get sold, it could've been rollover from that = / I need to stop walking away from my pc lol
Just thought it would be funny to point out that I just finished a game on normal; ending with 5700 spectators; and a ticket price of 5.40 a person. Only a net worth of 210k though :( Someday, I will try to play on hard.
**Edit, was just in a game who claimed to have broken the 10k mark on spectators; very impressive.
Just stack towers that have high armor, spend money fast. get buildings that give you more spectators early; and try to invest in things that give more minerals.
I just set a new personal best of 850,000; hardest difficulty, random upgrades. I am wondering how possible 1 million is. My strat, WHICH DOES NOT REACH 1 MILLION; has been to just spam those flamethrower towers ASAP; build like, 200 of them; I pick a dozen or so to go into frenzy mode; or whatever it is called every round. I usually put a dozen siege tanks at the end of my lane; and 1 right in the middle; which I upgrade a lot and link to a flamethrower. Get the flamethrower upgrade ASAP that gives them "armor" as they score kills. The best I have had on 1 tower is like, 300 or so.
I have noticed that pretty much anyone in any game who does well on the hardest difficulty; does this same thing. I dont intend this as a spoiler; and if you want it removed, lemme know; or tell an admin to delete it. I dont think a failed strategy can be considered cheating.
Going to be nerfing the Burnout Tower kill bonus tonight, it's clearly too much. That was one of the few things I wasn't able to fully play test before release. Also going to be discouraging building tons of low level towers. However, I planned to do these things before I read any of this.
Also, to get a high score in this game, you need to figure out the most exploitative strategy. Really get those synergies working for you.
yeah; those burn out towers give way to much "armor". If you get the upgrade that doubles the kill effect thing, it gets pretty insane; between all of your towers 3000 "armor" isn't hard to get. While you nerf them in that manner, I would suggest also lowering their DPS while in "frenzy" mode. that 80% to 800% thing is a bit much; IMO the best DPS towers in the game; the fact that they give so much "armor" just makes them that much better.
My top incoming start has been to stick to only the starting towers; and max out on spectacular kills and uhh... the other type of kill there; while maxing all of my special building types. I havent tried that yet on the hardest difficulty; it might make it farther; but I know it will be a lot harder to win with; and with much less early game income from spectators; im not sure it would payout as well in the grand scheme...

That being said, you got in just under the wire. I'm making a fix to the game tonight to limit the towers to 50, and throttling crowd appeal for low level towers later in the game. You wouldn't have been able to use that strat tomorrow. On the other hand, this contest had an ulterior motive: To encourage people to send me replays on how they broke the game! YOU PLAYED RIGHT INTO MY HANDS.
Anyways, there's ways in the game to break 1,000,000 without cheesy strats. So, here's all I'm saying:
There are 4 possible endings to the game. One of those 4 endings would help you breach 1,000,000. ;)

Ha guess I did, the only way I could do it after trying to swap towers *mineral rushing for all buildings didnt work* was to boost the attendence through spitfire towers *with killing bonus upgrade for the double chance* along with some early crossfire towers to try and boost how much attendence would cost lol. I actually used alot of splitters in attempts to get more people for attendence boosts, seemed to work quite well. Also there seems to be a bug that if you build the concussion drones after the darkness curse they seem to have -3 range, not sure about any others but in the replay you actually see me try to build a few at the end to keep final boss slowed and it's a nogo
Edit: Does the investment perk count whats in your bank in the final total? I probably could've withdrew the 140,000 in there and upgraded the rest of my towers but figured it would count anyway. I actually couldn't withdraw from it all game
Also there seems to be a bug that if you build the concussion drones after the darkness curse they seem to have -3 range
Just patched that bug a few minutes ago, along with the other balance changes i mentioned. :)
Turns out if you ever built a tower after day 46 it would be cursed. I can't believe I played so many times without building new towers after that point. I tend to stick to my guns (literally).

You know what? It doesn't! I think I just forgot about that. Next patch you'll get it.
Oh and one more thing, I know you've been going for high scores and what not, but the bank was bugged so it wasn't saving high scores. Your incredible score is lost, buddy. :( It's ok though, the banked high score is irrelevant for this contest.

Oh man, that's a ton of money!
