@DEFILERRULEZ: Go You know many players can't finish WoL in Brutal, right? Me included. I've been crapping my pants to finish them and I don't even have the achievement for the last mission on Hard yet.
Last mission isn't so hard, banshee - kill nydus - kill kerrigan dodge the OP storm, some ground defenses and you won, the mission or achievement that gave me problems (really few between hots and wol) i watched someyoutube videos... I think that more hard of brutal wol should be OK, brutal must be brutal, i repeat not so dumb hard like enslavers or that horrible/impossible sc1 campaigns like antioch chronicles ( i never managed to defeat the mission number 4, and mission 3 take medays to be completed.
Most hard thigs ever on sc2 was the achievement to defeat the hyperion hots mission in less of 10 or 8 minutes
I think only few people doesn't finished wol on brutal, even a bronze or a top silver that did league only on the first 3 seasons like me could defeat it easily, i mean with some tries WoL is done personally
@GhostNova91: Go That would be pretty sweet, hell, was expecting HotS to be done that way.
Though, I hope LotV is just as/a little bit harder than WoL, with the last mission being something on the difficulty level of Omega from BW or the final level from WC3:TFT. :D
@DEFILERRULEZ: Go You gotta be kidding me. Hyperion mission was harder? Omega from BW? Well it seems different players have different difficulties in their lives, but for me I say that if LotV is any harder than WoL I'll leave Brutal unfinished for sure.
Omega was like this: Hydras and zergling with ultras on protoss base
Macro up all protoss base and do a lot of ultra, not even reaver can stand against ultra, then do ssome devourers and guardian to destroy strategic point of mengsk and attack with ultra ling with added sruvivors hydras, to this point make really few hydras, they are useless, from here you have to spam ultra ling hydra and keep sending units so mengsk base cannot rebuild anything
Macro all mengs base and go with devourer- guardians and all your spam of ground units, attack multiple locations, try to don't clump up units and go, swarm it, the number will overwhelm dugalle base (remember ultralisk and zergling will deal most of the damage) and then keep spamming units and keep attacking, use all your hathceries to spam units.
I was really in trouble when i bought sc1bw on 2010, but after 2 years of sc2 and campaigns of all type i reaped it easily, also watching how a korean or chinese guy defeat it on youtube, obviously i added some modifies that better fits my style :)
I must confes the last mission of WoL in brutal is BRUTAL, but not impossibile, I gotta ALL the achivements of WoL and HotS campaign, the HotS ones is very easy comparated to WoL, the most difficult was Gold Lost Viking -.-
'All In' (The name of the last WoL mission) was, so far, the only decent mission I could see on the campaign, but only because it was weighted and the waves and gimmicks (Air/Nydus/Mass Overlords) were pre-scripted, so it was predictable. Not to mention the artifact gimmick, which granted your extra-cripsy shockwave, save the exceptions (Leviathan and Kerrigan).
Still, it wasn't impossible, and note I've played on Brutal, high APM and I'm probably the only one in this forum whom takes gaming seriously. All you just needed was the right tech and right defense line. Always chose to neutralize air, because Worms are easy to deal with cloaked banshees and I like the space mission, was a last reminder of how Build & Destroy missions in Starcraft used to be. Also, the automatic refineries tend to help a lot in 'All In', as you can focus solely on mining and getting SCVs (With fast repair upgrade) to ready the bunker lines, Perdition Turrets and Siege Tanks. As well as a small contingent of Banshees and Science Vessels (For free repair) for microing worms and Kerrigan, also with upgrades.
That's explained because I've seen many LPs on YouTube, particularly people like Husky, IskatuMesk, Mahalo and many others, playing too casual, with low APM, always being caught by surprise on things they should've watched out for.
Yes. this is harsh and somehow it sounds like I'm bragging "Oh, I'm the best player", but you must see their playthrough to understand it, and then compare it to the professionals whom play the matches (Taeja, WhiteRa, TLO, Crank, Alicia, DeMuslim, and others). People whom actually compete against other human players. Set them against the AI and the mission is over in what, less than 13 minutes. Both HotS and WoL, that is.
He probably means the competitive nature of playing against others and/or figuring out how to complete an objective as clean as possible. The latter is basically figuring out a puzzle, coming up with a plan and executing it as fast as possible. That goes for all types of games.
Some people think they have to get all the achievements and beat a game on the hardest difficulty level. Everything else is considered "just for fun" or for "noobs". I think they forget that playing a game is just that ("playing" = "pretend", "test", or "tease"). There is nothing serious about it. Unless you do it for money, but then it's not playing anymore, it's a job. You must not fail your job.
So i take the Game seriously too, when i did the campaign i was rarely caught on surprise, and i don't like too Husky's playtrough, done in dumb difficulty and all like "oMg So CRaZy i NeVEr eXPeCt iT!", is like that they are saying "i don't mind to play well singleplayer, it's for noobs, i do it only because sub subscribers asked for it", if you look at PSY playtrough you can see that also single is done with strategy and high APM, i do the same, but on HotS i was bored, pratically 99% of missions was on a+click
Now what do you think about LotV missions that you are playing with an AI ally? I like the idea to have to control my base and control the AI with commands like "attack" "defend" "active the artifact" "open the gate" etc...
In other words, have the AI play just like in Red Alert 3? Thank you, but I'll pass that.
Now, if you talk about an AI whom participates in Build and Destroy missions (Play ACTIVE, not like the mess they did with Terrans in the HotS last mission), whom builds, expands to new sites, expands production, upgrades, masses waves and varies attack paths, THEN and only then, we'll be talking business. Otherwise, it's all just pre-scripted gimmicks all over again... Sorry, but I must say it.
Mmmmh they could use the AI that we see on Matchmaking, it scout, do various builds, macro like a boss and attack, unfotunately sometimes it go on retarded mode :D
Build and destroy is the WoL IMBArauder mission?
Anyway i would like too an active AI that di stuffs like a human player
The only B&D missions worthy enough I've seen so far were the Protoss in WoL. But then, the AI was wretched, it wouldn't defend itself and the attack waves were casualized.
An active AI that'd pretend to act like a human player would be too much effort for Blizzard. They always like to cut as much corners as possible instead of truly working on something other than marketing, that's also resorting to simple-minded tactics (Over-sexualized Kerrigan suit, Chuck Norris, Tenacious D and other stuff).
Ok, so it seems I can't be considered a serious player because I have low APM? Even though I have 5085 achievement points righ now and I've been crapping my pants to get the campaign ones I still don't have.
Go pull the "league card" on Blizz forums, this is mapster, if I need high APM to play the campaign too I'd rather go do something else because I will surely fail. Why not add to the mission an objective like "click all targets on screen (0/5000)"? We are one step away from that anyway.

Amon on his real form :D
Well, Artanis seem to have more pylons now that he's the boss. hehe
Whatever you do, wholeheartedly, moment by heartfelt moment, becomes a tool for the expression of your very soul.

If omega was hard try Enslavers 2, the mission 3 is impossible!!!!! Spam of siege tank on enemy base... Zerg base ultra defended... You kidding me???

I used this strategy too Delta ;)

Care to explain yourself?
