Blizzard just announced, there going to be shutting down both the Gold and Real Money auction houses. The catch is it won't take place until March 2014.
A step in the right direction by Blizzard I think, it sounds like their starting to listen more and more. Does this bode well for other games as well? Perhaps we'll see major updates to the Arcade in Lotv as well?
I saw this earlier. Blizzard is definitely moving in a good direction, and it looks like they're listening to feedback. I certainly hope we get some arcade updates as well- they've been reaching out to some extent to get our feedback, but I really hope to see that feedback make a difference :)
Bold move... I never thought they would ever do that as they kill a source of income shutting down the RMAH.
Inb4 Blizzard sells gambling chance improvements or raised xp/gold rewards in RoS to make up for that loss. :D
The only time I bought items from there, my char was killed some time later because the weapon made me play in areas that I couldn't handle. =/
So it's no loss for me... just good to see more self-found players in HC. :)
I'm surprised, never expected them to make such a big move. o_o
Anyway, it's good to see that now Inferno will be "the most difficult of difficult" like it was supposed to, rather than "go to the Auction House every 3 quests and you'll be fine" (haven't really checked it out before, but from what I heard that's why Inferno felt like a cakewalk for some people?)
I hope for a better campaign for LotV,not the same tutorial retarded-friendly campaign (also on brutal)
Brutal at HotS was easier than Brutal at WoL, they should make the difficulty like 'All In' or 'In Utter Darkness' with Amon from WoL. Sheesh completely destroying the challenge of SC2 due to 'Casuals'
Brutal on HotS was practically the same as 'Hard' on WoL, for me. Troubling at first, but, after the first playthrough, you get to outskill it because it's predictable. There's little to no challenge at all in missions that practically have everything from gimmicks like snowstorms that freeze units to predictable AI and a super-hero unit that can outmatch a base with enough micro. If there's any challenge, at all, is trying to get the normal and master achievements and that's about it, because the rest is practically a joke.
Blizzard's policy has been to casualize everything as of late, and I don't have any doubt they'll do it with LotV, too.
Damn you! I am afraid of the same thing, what about an "impossible" difficulty?? A thing not for casual gamers, for experts, like Enslavers 1 (enslavers 2 was impossible... And Anyway every missions took me more than an hour to complete it if i remember well"
That new difficulty should add new skins and other rewards,i am tired of guides that call "a big wave of unit" 2 Thor 2 viking and 2 tank... Are you kidding me?
I hope that all the whine about HotS storyline and difficulty will have some effects

Well, before everyone gets all happy with the idea that Blizzard is doing this out of their own self-awareness of what their company image has become (and relatively bad their games are), they were likely expending enormous amounts of money on legal fees, staffing, fraud, and ensuring SEC compliance with 301a/301b (and who knows what else) that it likely wasn't profitable (at least enough) to maintain it in the long-term.
I know I made almost 5 figures (much less after dealing with PayPal being a terribad company) from running an Auto-Hotkey bot on two computers during the first few weeks of the AH by botting Justice Lanterns/Lacuna Prowlers/String of Ears and reselling them and many other people did too, so Blizzard was definitely raking in the dough early on - however, most of that dried up quickly after the first month and wasn't worth the effort after that. I wouldn't be surprised if they were losing money on maintaining the RMAH after the first six months.
This just gives them the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone: redeem their name and claim that their making significant 'changes' while being able to get rid of something that isn't doing them much good anymore. That said, it's still a step in the right direction and many changes to RoS are good (ladder, better loot) but I'm skeptical until I see the final product a month at least a month out after release.
Edit: I should add that this doesn't bode well for those waiting on "Premium Map" system if they're getting rid of their RMAH infrastructure. I seriously hope people aren't mapping with the intent on making money directly from Blizzard's paid maps.
Main issue will be how to avoid the black market forming like D2. Unless they remove all trade completely and only donations are transferable/time given, it will be impossible to stop bots from taking over and third part sites.

Just out of curiosity, what major updates to the arcade do you think should be made?

As i started in another thread, blizzard seems to have pulled their SC2 positions from career completely. Seems to me they are about t gear down.

Anyways, looking forward to Reaper of Souls. :D
@Fullachain: Go
So that is the date the expansion(which from what Ive seen looks really impressive) will be released.
Well, I made enough out of it to buy HoTS... Can i make it to RoS in a year? DAMN. LETS GO.

Also D3 RoS will need new difficulties i think,mp10 guys with 70 level equip will rape all too easily i think
